ADOPTION FEE: $475. This fee INCLUDES spay/neuter and microchip. **Ask me about our many adoption benefits that include free exams, pet insurance, training and other discounts!
ESTIMATE WEIGHT FULL GROWN: 60 lbs
KNOWN WITH DOGS: Leo plays with other dogs just fine but is not really into sharing his food or having a dog be in his space.
KNOWN WITH CATS: Leo used to live with a cat and did some chasing of his kitty friend. We would not suggest having him live with another cat.
KNOWN WITH KIDS: Leo lived with three children previously under the age of 8 and did well with them.
KNOWN COMMANDS: Sit, stay, come, heel, shake
KNOWN HOUSEBREAKING &/OR CRATING: Leo settles nicely in his crate and is crate trained
KNOWN LIKES: Affection, training, walks, good sniffs, toys, running, foraging, digging holes
KNOWN DISLIKES: Some dogs and sharing space/food around other dogs, unfamiliar noises
ABOUT THIS ANIMAL: Leo was returned to Homeward Trails due to the extent of leash reactivity to other dogs. He previously came to us from one of our rural shelter partners when he was 7 months old. He is likely looking for a home where he can be an only dog with a fenced yard.
Leo is a sweet pup that is VERY selective for his other furry friends! He's been OK with a cat in the home once he got to know them, but chases/reacts to new cats!! He's great meeting a dog off leash in a controlled environment, but likes his home to himself, and gets nervous with leash meetings.
Leo has been great around kids, but older kids would be a better match so if he wants to protect his space, they can understand what he's telling them!
He loves his people, and to play with his humans. He has medium to high energy, and would love an exercise partner and happy to be a couch potato after a big day.
Leo is house trained!!!
