Meet Rocco!... A soon to be 8 year old housebroken Golden Doodle. Full of fluff and energy, Rocco enjoys long walks, playing fetch for hours and car rides! As active as he is, he’s fine being home alone during the work day. Rocco gets along well with other dogs, after a slow introduction. Rocco finds toddlers a little too exciting, so will do best in an adult home or one with teens. If you are interested in meeting Rocco, be sure to complete an application on lineIf. if you are interested in this dog, please submit an application directly to our website at www.ny-petrescue.org. Ollie is a 4 yr old, medium sized, lanky goldendoodle boy. He's very sweet, fun, and happy-go-lucky. He loves all people so don't expect a guard dog out of this never-met-a-stranger boy! He's housetrained, knows a few tricks and expects a few treats! He gets along well with other dogs and with children of all ages but hasn't been around cats. Ollie can't wait to be your new best friend! Ollie is located in Houston TX so can only do video chat meet n greets with approved adopters (i.e. you need to submit your application and be approved first). His fee is $850. Story
DAKOTA - 3 years, 73lbs, Goldendoodle, Spayed  This dog is joining Social Tees on 1/11 and is eligible to join our foster-to-adopt program starting that day. Please email fostertoadopt@socialteesnyc.org with the animal’s name in the subject line if you are interested! Want to straight up adopt? Submit an adoption application at socialteesnyc.org. Level of dog ownership experience needed:INTERMEDIATE: This dog will need significant structure and plenty of daily exercise, training, and mental stimulation – 90 consecutive minutes of movement in the morning plus potty break walks and brain games throughout the day. The adopter must have relevant primary care experience with a similar breed, temperament, and/or energy level. (Primary care experience includes ownership, fostering, or dog sitting as an adult, not a dog you grew up with.) Energy level:MEDIUM: Needs a daily 60-90 minute walk or window of quick paced exercise (minimum) in addition to potty break strolls (10-30 min each). Also needs significant socializing opportunities outside the home and mental stimulation at home like tricks training practice, chew items, and puzzle toys. (This is regardless of dog size – many small breeds were designed for lots of activity and will exhibit unwanted behavior when they’re understimulated.)  Potty trained?Probably! Adults usually are, but all will have transitional accidents for the first week or so. A consistent walking route and schedule plus finding spots with grass or dirt can help. Social with other dogs?Yes, but we don’t know to what degree yet. Some like to wrestle with every passing pup, others can coexist well but prefer to keep to themselves. We’ll learn more soon. Social with cats? Not sure yet! Some breed mixes that are generally NOT great matches for homes with cats include large hounds, huskies, and shepherds.  Comfortable with children?  (ALWAYS requires adult supervision)We’re not sure yet, but we try to err on the side of caution. Respectful kids ages 8 and up are probably a safe bet. Children must always be monitored and taught to interact with dogs of any age respectfully.  Okay in the city?We don’t know yet. Most adult dogs do well in the city after they’ve had time to adjust to a new environment, but some never adapt and need homes in the burbs.  Medical statusHealthy as far as we know. Up to date on their DHPP, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines; heartworm negative; spayed/neutered; microchipped; treated with dewormer upon intake  How this dog ended up with Social Tees:Most of our dogs come via partner groups who help us save them from shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia in Tennessee or St. Thomas. There are very few spay/neuter resources there and many more animals in those areas than there are people to adopt them. Rescue groups like ours bring them to the northeast where the desire for pets like these allows us to save their lives.  PLEASE NOTE: We cannot guarantee any breed mix, exact age, or full grown size (if the dog is under a year old). We do our best with very educated guesses though!  This animal is not at the Social Tees office, all are in foster homes. Story
I am putting up a labradoodle for adoption. We adopted him from another family a few weeks ago but unfortunately, my son is allergic to him. We previously had a poodle and we thought a labradoodle would be fine too but alas it wasn’t. Gucci is three years old, in good health, and is extremely friendly towards people. He has been a bit aggressive towards male dogs on a couple of occasions as he hasn’t been neutered but I imagine this could be addressed by neutering and it isn’t a frequent problem. There is no adoption fee. My only concern is to make sure that Gucci ends up in a good home. He is very attached to people and is always with me when I’m at home. (I work from home.) Also, he’s an energetic dog. I’d like to see him end up with someone who could give him a lot of attention and exercise.

Story
I have an Adoption Pending but hope you will consider one of our other dogs in need. Thank you! Beautiful Mya is an 18-month-old Goldendoodle whose owner had to move and could not take her with him. One of his co-workers took Mya, hoping to place her on their own, but then reached out to our rescue for assistance. Mya has been well cared for and is a wonderful companion. She loves being outside and with daily walks, she is happy to settle inside and chill. She is friendly to everyone she meets and enjoys playing with children. She has a very "golden" personality and even gives that famous "golden paw" when she wants affection. Mya is housebroken and walks pretty well on the leash. She is good with other dogs but has no known history with cats. Mya loves to cuddle and is very affectionate, but her favorite thing to do is RETRIEVE! Mya is a tall girl and weighs about 60 pounds. She is up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed, microchipped, and heartworm negative. She will be ready to come north from AL in mid-January to be directly adopted. Rescued dogs come with a range of needs - from behavioral to emotional to medical. When approved applicants adopt such dogs, they agree to become an important, forever part of their life journey by continuing the rehabilitation we have begun. If you are approved to adopt through SGRR, have a physically fenced yard, and an active lifestyle, please contact Cheryl Kewley to be considered to adopt Mya. If not yet approved for adoption, please visit our website to learn more and to submit an online application. Click here to visit our website. Please contact us with any questions regarding your application status. PLEASE APPLY by submitting an application via this online link: Click for Adoption Application About Our Rescue Before being approved to adopt, all potential adopters need to complete our online application and participate in our pre-adoption review process. The process includes the completion of an online application, a reference from the applicants' vet, a phone interview, and a visit to the applicants' home. The application process helps us determine what type of Golden would be best suited for the applicants' life style. In some cases, the specific dog you are interested in may have found a home before this process is complete or further assessment may find that this dog is not the right match for your family. We are regularly getting new Goldens in need of a home, so we encourage you to apply and get approved so that when the right dog comes along you will be ready. The information provided on each dog is based on observations of our vets, volunteers, fosters and when available, trainers. While we do our best to report any and all issues, SGRR does not make any guarantees as to the health or temperament of any dog. Dogs evolve differently in different environments and we cannot predict with any certainty how the dog you adopt will act in your home. ADOPTION FEES - Effective of October 1, 2024 PUREBRED DOGS Purebred puppies, up to 6 months $1000 Purebred dogs, 6 months - 6 years $800 Purebred dogs, 7 - 9 years $650 Purebred dogs, 10 years and up $550 Young dogs with special needs $650 Senior dogs with special needs $500 Pairs of Purebred Puppies, up to 6 months $1600 Bonded pair - young purebred dogs $1400 Bonded pair - senior dogs 7 years & up $1000 MIXED BREED DOGS Up to 6 months $850 6 months - 6 years $750 7 - 9 years $650 10 years and up $550 Young dogs with special needs $650 Senior dogs with special needs $500 Bonded pair - young dogs $1000 Bonded pair - senior dogs 7 years & up $900 A contract is signed the day of adoption. Under the terms of the contract, all adopters are required to bring the rescue to a vet within 7 business days. The dogs receive basic veterinary care prior to adoption. If your vet identifies an illness that an adopter is not willing to treat, then the dog is returned and a full refund is provided. Many of our dogs are fostered in private homes and we do not have a facility to visit. We are committed to our dogs before, during, and after adoption! The rescue retains title to the dog and can never be released or sold. Should the adopters no longer be able to keep the dog, SGRR must be notified so that we can take the dog back into rescue and place it into another home. We reserve the right to remove a dog at any time should we find the adopter is no longer caring for their Golden in a way we see fit. Adopters then have to agree to follow up visits as needed. Please be a ray of light for this Sunshine dog and make a tax deductible donation toward medical and other expenses. Every cent of your generosity goes directly toward the care of a Sunshine dog.
