Story
Meet Audrey! Audrey is a sweet lady! She’s always down for whatever. She loves a good snuggle just as much as a good hike. She’s very well-mannered both on and off-leash. She enjoys the company of humans and animals, and she has a special fascination for farm animals.  She is large with a disarming bark, but she is very gentle. She loves to communicate and typically asks for what she wants with sighs and body language. She sleeps a lot, always on the softest surface she can find. July 13, 2024, 5:16 pm

Story
Oreo is the definition of a big baby. He loves being around people, thinks he is a lap dog, and has done great with other dogs.  Oreo was rescued from New Mexico. Meet and greets are by appointment only.  An approved application is required to schedule a meeting. Check out our events page for upcoming open adoption events! We have no additional back story or update for this dog at this time.  When we do, it will be updated here.  This is all the information we have currently. Approved Applicants may make the adoption fee payment by clicking donate above.  Partial adoption fees will not hold a dog. Dogs adopted with our rescue come with FREE training from #GoodPup to help you build strong bonds from the start! If upon meeting the dog of your choosing at your scheduled pickup time you find that you aren't a good match, your deposit will be fully refunded. Adoption fees include vaccines up until time of adoption, microchip, spay/neuter and 1st 30 days of free Pet insurance.  We are not affiliated with Pet First pet insurance. (you have to sign up for the insurance or it will not go into effect).  Adoption fees help cover the medical care of the animals while he or she waits for a new home, as well as food and transportation costs. These fees help to provide care for the other animals in the shelter or rescue group who may have medical bills that are much higher than any possible adoption fee. The money also acts as a donation to help support the organization as a whole, allowing the group to continue its efforts to rescue and rehome pets. The dogs in our care are fostered in Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico.  While all dogs are picked up during our scheduled times, sometimes transport dates change due to unforeseen circumstances.   More questions?  Read our FAQs here: https://4p4l.org/faqs/  Breed labels are a "best guess" by a shelter veterinarian and cannot be guaranteed.  A new study has concluded that (in layman's terms), breed assumption is NOT indicative of behavior in mixed breed dogs.  Therefore, if a dog looks presumably to be a German Shepherd breed, one cannot assume the dog will have a high prey drive.  From the study: "Although many physical traits were associated with breeds, behavior was much more variable among individual dogs. In general, physical trait heritability was a greater predictor of breed but was not necessarily a predictor of breed ancestry in mutts. Among behavioral traits, biddability—how well dogs respond to human direction—was the most heritable by breed but varied significantly among individual dogs. Thus, dog breed is generally a poor predictor of individual behavior and should not be used to inform decisions relating to selection of a pet dog" - https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/science.abk0639 ##2096160##

Story
Hi there! My name is Stanley, or Stan. Whichever you prefer! Here’s a little bit about me: I walk beautifully on a leash, making our strolls enjoyable and easy. I love just being by my owner as I feel they protect me from the harsh world. No need to worry about accidents; I’m fully potty trained! Sometimes I get an upset stomach cause I love food! Can you blame me? I will let you know when I need to go out. I’m comfortable and well-behaved in my crate, making it a safe and cozy space for me. I get along wonderfully with other pets, so I’d fit right into a multi-pet household. Long walks and belly rubs are my favorite! I’m always up for some outdoor fun and a good cuddle session.Treats are my weakness, and I’ll do anything for a tasty snack. This makes training a breeze! My foster mom also uses a slow feeder so I slow down and that I don’t get sick. I have a bubbly personality that will bring joy and laughter to your home. I’m a loving, loyal companion who adores everyone I meet. I just want to be by your side and make you smile every day. If you’re looking for a devoted friend to share your life with, I’m your dog! Let’s meet soon and start our adventure together. ##2090358##

Story
Meet Commander! This gentle giant is coming July 2. We are accepting applications now but will need to get him medically cleared first, before adoption. He is great with humans and dog friendly. He will be fostered by our founder in Boulder, who will work on his leash and crate training. Will you give him the home he deserves? Commander has been diagnosed with heartworm, a condition caused by parasitic worms living in the heart and lungs. However, it's important to note that heartworm is not contagious, meaning it cannot be transmitted directly from one animal to another. The disease spreads through the bite of an infected mosquito, not through direct contact. Fortunately, his treatment will be paid for by POSO and he has already started the pill treatment. Comes with 2 free dog training sessions
