Story
Meet Jax, the Great Pyrenees Anatolian Shepherd mix. Jax previously lived in a home with children of all ages (from infant to 8 years old) and loved being around them. Staff have observed that Jax walks nicely on leash for being such a large dog. Jax has history living with another large breed dog and has met dogs at the Shelter. A home with a canine companion may be a fit but Jax should do a meet and greet with any residents at the Shelter prior to adoption. From March 10th to March 17th, this dog’s adoption fee is reduced to $50 during the Get Lucky Adoption Special. Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.

Story
Meet Honeybee, the Great Pyrenees! This five year old gal previously was a livestock guardian through and through – working with horses and cattles on a ranch. She has since retired and prefers a companion dog life-style. She is crate trained and house trained. Honeybee has lived with other dogs and cats and is more of a coexister than actively playing. Walks and playing fetch with the grandchildren are on the list of things that Honeybee enjoys. Her resume includes knowing “sit”, “shake”, “lay down” and “tummy”. Honeybee has been a soft, gentle girl since her arrival and would love to blossom in a home. From March 10th to March 17th, this dog’s adoption fee is reduced to $50 during the Get Lucky Adoption Special. Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Story
I am writing on behalf of our aging parents who are facing a difficult decision regarding their dog, Kuuper due to some recent challenges. Unfortunately, they find themselves unable to manage his size and strength, as they are both in retirement age, will be going on disability, and moving to a small apartment complex. Kuuper is a 5 year old, great pyrenese mix, an incredibly sweet, timid, and obedient dog, and is kind and playful with other animals and children when properly introduced. He is house trained, crate trained, and gentle with humans as he’s been living with our senior parents his whole life.  He has been a beloved part of our family since he was a puppy and this is a very difficult decision for all of us. We hope that he finds a family that will continue the love we’ve given him.

Story
Moana is a 14mo 1/2 silver lab and 1/2 Great Pyrenees unaltered female up for adoption. I have met both parents and while she looks like other breeds she is indeed the above mix called a “Pyrador” Moana is an extremely loving girl with a ton of lab energy! She is crate and potty trained great with dogs and kids, but probably kids that are taller than her because she is at just the right height and keeps knocking down our younger kids hard. She needs to be able to get out and run to bring down that energy and with 4 kids a job and a house it’s just too much for our family.
