Story
Meet Koda, the adorable adolescent adoptable cloud! He is a 6 month old Great Pyrenees mix with a sunny disposition. Staff have observed that he gives kisses and is easy to handle all over. Koda has previously lived with a family who he enjoyed going for walks with. He lived with and interacted with about five dogs of various sizes in the previous home and may be open to canine friends in the future. He also lived with two kitties! Koda knows “sit” and “paw” and is a big fan of chicken and squeaky toys – which could serve as great forms of reward when working on positive reinforcement training with his new family. From March 10th to March 17th, this dog’s adoption fee is reduced to $50 during the Get Lucky Adoption Special. Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.

Story
I am writing on behalf of our aging parents who are facing a difficult decision regarding their dog, Kuuper due to some recent challenges. Unfortunately, they find themselves unable to manage his size and strength, as they are both in retirement age, will be going on disability, and moving to a small apartment complex. Kuuper is a 5 year old, great pyrenese mix, an incredibly sweet, timid, and obedient dog, and is kind and playful with other animals and children when properly introduced. He is house trained, crate trained, and gentle with humans as he’s been living with our senior parents his whole life.  He has been a beloved part of our family since he was a puppy and this is a very difficult decision for all of us. We hope that he finds a family that will continue the love we’ve given him.
