Story
Needing to rehome due to upcoming move into the city. Currently lives on an acreage. Needs lots of space to run and be outside. Not house trained as he has been an outside dog majority of his life. 5 years old. Very friendly, good with dogs, people/kids, we do have barn cats that run around but he hasn’t been very close and personal with cats so unsure how he would be. Has been around horses, pigs, and goats in the past.

Story
- Enjoys spending time with dogs who have a similar play style - Prefers to explore and do their own thing here in the shelter, but will likely open up more once they're in a home environment and have had time to decompress - Does well on a leash - Tends to be socially awkward with other dogs (dog intro recommended) - Young, noisy or busy children can be too much for them (mature home recommended) - All adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and DA2PPV as appropriate for age- The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, and not breed label Primary Color: White Weight: 103 Age: 2yrs 1mths 0wks

Story
Hello, I'm Mo! I'm the sweetest, friendliest, most curious dog you'll ever meet. I've lived most of my life outdoors, so I could adapt again to that life or life inside loving you. I do good in a kennel and seem to be pretty well potty-trained. I'm selective about other dogs so a proper introduction is a must. I absolutely LOVE my belly rubbed.  If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2032005##

Story
Hi, I'm Luna Bear! I'm a 8 year old Great Pyrenese mix. I'm an older lady and have been in the shelter system for almost 3 years...I'm a lady of leisure and independence. I appreciate my own space, and while I may not be the life of the dog park, I offer a mellow companionship that's hard to find. I prefer a quiet home where I can relax and be myself. I'm not one for other dogs or cats, but I promise to fill your life with a unique kind of love. If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Story
Meet Max! He’s a lovable giant—a Great Pyrenees German shepherd mix. He’s 2 years old and about 65 pounds. He’s friendly and loving. This big boy has boundless energy and a cheerful personality that will bring joy to any home. He’s house trained and absolutely adores people, especially kids. He was surrendered to us because his previous owner didn’t have a fence and the neighbors were threatening to shoot him.Max is a social butterfly who loves hanging out with other dogs—as long as they mind their manners. He’s all about good vibes and gets along great with friendly, easygoing pups. Rude or pushy dogs? Not Max’s style! With his happy-go-lucky attitude, Max is ready for adventures, snuggles, and a family to call his own. If you’re looking for a loyal, fun-loving companion who’s as sweet as he is large, Max might just be your perfect match!IMPORTANT: Please read all below, especially if you live outside of Texas, which is where our rescue is located.Apply to adopt on our website: https://www.charmingpetrescue.org/adoptAll of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots.ALL of our animals are located in Boerne, TX, but transport after adoption is available to other states for a $300 fee for dogs or an additional fee varying by location for cats. If you are seeing our pets posted in your state, that's because you live near a transport stop, they are not currently at that location. Petfinder lists our pets as 'Out of Town' pets at other locations, and Adopt-a-Pet lists our location as a Transport stop. Those are currently the only options they offer to make this clear, so we put this description we've put at the bottom to explain it. You can read more about transport here: www.charmingpetrescue.org/transportWe understand transport is not an option for everyone, but we offer it at the cost we pay the transport company for those who wish to adopt from us.January 9, 2025, 8:48 pm

Story
Picasso came to us as a stray, but now that she is in foster, we know she had a home at some point. She is kennel trained, house trained (with the help of a dog door), knows sit and down, is accepting of other dogs with appropriate meeting, doesn`t mind cats. With her sweet temperament, we`re mostly sure she`d do well with older kids as well. She has a very unique look to her, to match her personality. She is even enrolled in an obedience class to get her home-ready. She is just a wonderful girl who deserves her forever home!
