Story
Introducing Salt, a charming 2-year-old Great Pyrenees and Lab mix who perfectly blends the lovable traits of both breeds. Weighing in as a big, sweet boy, he embodies the essence of a gentle giant. Salt’s calm and affectionate demeanor makes him not only a wonderful companion but also a source of comfort and joy for anyone lucky enough to share their life with him. Salt is incredibly sociable and does exceptionally well with children, making him a fantastic family pet. His patience and gentle nature mean he can handle the exuberance of young ones with grace. Additionally, he has a friendly disposition towards other animals; he gets along beautifully with both cats and dogs. This adaptability makes him an ideal candidate for a multi-pet household. One of Salt's standout qualities is his intelligence. He has already mastered house training, showcasing his eagerness to learn and please. This makes him an easier pet to manage, as he is well aware of household rules and routines. His playful spirit is complemented by a calm demeanor, making him equally happy to play fetch in the yard or snuggle up on the couch for a cozy movie night. Salt is not just looking for a home; he’s in search of a loving family to share his life with. He thrives on companionship and will undoubtedly bring warmth and happiness to his forever home. Story
“Meet Jaxon! This 3 year old Great Pyrenees, is large, in charge, and ready to rule your roost/couch! Jaxon can organize a toy mess in under 30 seconds and he can return a ball to you even faster. His favorite activities are making sure his people and home are safe, picking up litter on walks so you can discard it (cares about his environment!), and babysitting tennis balls. What he lacks in small-ness he makes up for in the puppy playfulness. He’s crate-trained, good on a leash with harness, and mostly house-trained (so close!). His foster home includes both cats and dogs and he prefers his kitty friends. Interested adopters should expect a couple rounds of dog-testing with any existing dogs (low energy females preferred) and some warm-up time with men.” Age: 3 years old approx Weight: approx 65 lbs Temperament: Gets along with adults, kids, dogs Training: house trained. Vetting: Spayed, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative For questions about Jaxon, please email. chelseacna@gmail.com To ensure we're meeting both pet and adopters' needs, we ask potential adopters to complete an Adoption Application (www.bit.ly/DH-Adoption) for caretakers to review. Once your application is approved, we will bring the adoptable pet to your home for a preliminary visit. We are 100% donation-funded and our fees are equivalent to (or less than) the cost to fully vet a new dog yourself

Story
Adoption donation $525 weight  79 lbs  Age: 2 years  as of 3/23/2025            Logan is a friendly and sweet boy who is the quintessential family dog, he adores children and just loves to be with his people. if you sit down, you will likely find his big head nestled on your lap. He loves toys and bones and is a very easy-going boy. Logan is 100% House trained.        Logan definitely needs a yard, this boy loves to be outside! He doesn’t go far, if you call him, he will come right over to you. he is leash trained and if you have a big enough crate, he will go in there for naps.      Logan’s father is a purebred Great Pyrenees and mom is a 35 lb mixed breed. His original owners in Mississippi put two of his sisters in a cardboard box in front of their house with a sign that said “free puppies.” Wags rescued the puppies and found them loving homes. The owners refused to give up Logan and his sister Lila but kept them tied up outdoors. Wags was finally able to  convince them to relinquish the two and Logan and Lila went to the rescue, enjoying freedom for the first time. Lila has just been adopted, now it’s time for Logan to find a loving home of his own.         Logan gets  along well with most dogs although he’s definitely the alpha male and does not like to be challenged by another male. In his foster home in the northeast Logan lived with three females, including a puppy who jumped all over him, and he just wagged his tail. We’ve noticed that he does fine with small and medium dogs but tends to get more alpha with dogs his size. For that reason, we would prefer a home with dogs smaller than him or at least not with a alpha male.   His foster mom speaking: of the hundreds of dogs I’ve taken in I can honestly say Logan is in my top three. He is so easy and so loving. He just falls madly in love with his people and is just so sweet! However, Logan can be mixed with strangers. Generally, he ignores everyone, but if someone he doesn’t know comes over to pet him he can get startled and may give a warning snap. He’s very much a Great Pyrenees, he really loves his family, but can be a little wary of others. For that reason, the ideal home for Logan would be a family that either doesn’t have a lot of visitors or is willing to just ask them to leave him alone, Or just put Logan behind a gate. He’ll just lay down and watch the activity. He won’t try to jump over, I don’t even think he could! He’s just a super mellow boy who just wants to be with his people.   Logan is a total homebody, he really doesn’t want to go out and about, he really loves his home and has an independent streak, you could leave him out in the yard, and he will very happily roam the perimeter (probably in his Great Pyrenees mode of protecting sheep!) And then lay out in the sun.     Logan is currently on Long Island spending a few weeks with a Dog Trainer who absolutely adores him too! His Dog Trainer would be happy to go over what Logan’s been learning, we’d love a home with someone is willing to keep up the training.    Logan has been neutered and is up-to-date on his vaccines. He is a healthy boy who is ready to make a lucky family a VERY loving companion. All Wags adoption fees include spay/neuter, vaccines, microchip  and transport to the northeast. Story
If you are searching for a great family pet who has the most soulful brown eyes, look no further! This gentle sweet girl is the answer and her name is Glory. Glory adores and worships kids and wants nothing more than to be near them. Her best days are spent running along side them, sitting under their chair and laying next to them as they play. She is mellow, laid back and loves being at home with her people. Glory is potty trained, knows “sit, wait, potty and go in” (come inside or go into a room). Currently, she does not use a crate, but would  revert to it easily. She sleeps in a small room with a gate simply propped at the door. A harness is used when walking her and she needs to improve on not reacting to other dogs. Not one to play with toys much ( unless taunted by another dog to tug), she loves bones, treats and kongs. At times, Glory may try to leave the house without permission. Glory has lived in a house (and yard) with a variety of visiting dogs and a “ sister”. She has no experience with cats and the barking of small dogs makes her nervous. She should not be homed with small animals. If you are looking for your new best buddy, you have found her and she’s waiting to go home with you! Glory is up to date on vaccines, h2 negative and spayed. Apply at forrescue.net
