Story
Zara is a cute young husky mix with a playful and affectionate nature, though she is usually scared of new situations and people. Once she has learned to trust her humans, she's very affectionate and loving with them. She's is great with most dogs and plays with dogs of all sizes at daycare, but can occasionally be dog-selective if the mood hits her. Zara tries to play with the cats in her foster home, but will eventually leave them alone when they don't reciprocate. She already knows sit, down, and automatically sits at doors. Zara's ideal home would be one where she gets regular attention, exercise, and brain stimulation, and lots toys (she likes all manner of toys). Zara would prefer a canine companion to help her learn to navigate new situations. Because of Zara's enthusiastic tendencies, Zara would do best in a home with children over 8yrs of age.

Story
Hi I'm Chloe, a beautiful 2 year old Husky German Shepard mix. I am scared of a lot of things in the world and need another dog to help be a bridge between myself and humans. I do not like to be handled and can be very timid. I am currently on behavior medications to help with my anxiety. I am potty and crate trained but I do have accidents when I am very scared. I definitely need another dog to help me out in the world. I love to play with my dog friends once I feel safe in an environment. I am very curious about cats and will bark at them sometimes, but I otherwise leave them alone. Because I am so nervous about the world and about humans, I would not do well in a home with children under 13 years of age. I like ice cubes, carrots treats, project toys, and appropriate chew toys. I LOVE food in general, especially human food, like pizza (pepperoni is the best!) and gravy.....I'm getting kind of spoiled with the finer food in life, while I work on being brave. My ideal home is one with another dog and a yard with a 6 foot fence. I am a flight risk when I get scared, so apartment living is not for me. I cannot be taken on regular walks since I will run if I get spooked. A home that will take things very slowly with me would be best. My adoption fee includes a personalized training program.

Story
Highlights: -Needs an experienced adopter-Would do best with kids aged 16+ #### Meet Sitka, a charming five-year-old male husky with a goofy personality as big as his stature. Sitka is a vocal companion who loves to sing and engage in conversations with those who visit his kennel. While he is pretty laid back, he also loves to play with humans, dogs of all sizes, and toys. He can often be seen collecting toys around the yard and piling them all in one spot to protect them. He bounces around with glee outside, soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the company. Sitka is leash-trained and finds joy in daily walks. While he's on a diet, Sitka happily indulges in tossed healthy treats. He would do best in a home with older children who can respect his space; he simply asks that no one disturbs him while he is eating or playing with his special toys. Sitka is a very special dog who has helped teach many of our fearful dogs the joys of life. His fondness for humans and his playful, good-natured personality has made him an excellent mentor to other dogs; he has helped bring many companions out of their shells and get them ready for a home. Now, Sitka is ready to find a forever home of his own. If you're looking for a hilariously sassy - yet sweet - buddy, Sitka is your guy! If you would like to meet Sitka, please apply at NMDR.org. ****Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have experienced minimal socialization. As a result, there is often an adjustment period when learning about life as a family pet. Because some of our dogs are very under socialized, they may not be a good fit for young children. Homes with older children will be considered on an individual basis. Common skills such as house training and leash walking will often take extra time. Patience, understanding and a gentle hand are a must. The great news is, many of these dogs come around with patience and being a part of their rehabilitation is an extremely rewarding experience. Hello!! I'm a beautiful red fella and my new friends at TCRAS keep telling me how handsome I am. I have a few special quirks that my friends would love to tell you about, but overall I'm a sweet boy. I trust a little slowly but I can be won over with cookies! I'm learning some manners right now, how to wait politely in my kennel...because I do love to dart out the door. I am also learning how to walk at the side of my handler, all the cookies make that super fun! If you've got the patience and experience for a dog like me than call 719-686-7707 to set up a time to meet me! Current weight 55 lbs.

Story
This white purebred Siberian Husky is completely house trained and obeys basic commands. She weighs 50 pounds and walks well on a leash. Must Rehome her because I travel for work. I live in a very remote area, and her only owner. She would do best as someone's only companion, she sleeps by people at night and is very much a pack animal. Loves long walks or runs, and dog parks. Not a howler or barker, but will sing for you if you howl first. Funny and smart. Very well behaved and excellent temperament. Eats dry food only, all shots up to date, fixed- easy to care for her. Requires daily walks and human companionship.

Story
Meet Cyber, a big, fun-loving puppy with an adventurous spirit! Cyber is always up for excitement and fun, making him a perfect companion for outdoor activities. He’s already mastered "sit" and is highly motivated by treats, which makes training a breeze. If you’re looking for a loyal adventure buddy who can keep up with your explorations and share in the thrill of the great outdoors, Cyber is your ideal match. Cyber was rescued from a shelter in New Mexico. Meet and greets are by appointment only.  An approved application is required to schedule a meeting. Check out our events page for upcoming open adoption events! We have no additional back story or update for this dog at this time.  When we do, it will be updated here.  This is all the information we have currently. Approved Applicants may make the adoption fee payment by clicking donate above.  Partial adoption fees will not hold a dog. Dogs adopted with our rescue come with FREE training from #GoodPup to help you build strong bonds from the start! If upon meeting the dog of your choosing at your scheduled pickup time you find that you aren't a good match, your deposit will be fully refunded. Adoption fees include vaccines up until time of adoption, microchip, spay/neuter and 1st 30 days of free Pet insurance.  We are not affiliated with Pet First pet insurance. (you have to sign up for the insurance or it will not go into effect).  Adoption fees help cover the medical care of the animals while he or she waits for a new home, as well as food and transportation costs. These fees help to provide care for the other animals in the shelter or rescue group who may have medical bills that are much higher than any possible adoption fee. The money also acts as a donation to help support the organization as a whole, allowing the group to continue its efforts to rescue and rehome pets. The dogs in our care are fostered in Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico.  While all dogs are picked up during our scheduled times, sometimes transport dates change due to unforeseen circumstances.   More questions?  Read our FAQs here: https://4p4l.org/faqs/  Breed labels are a "best guess" by a shelter veterinarian and cannot be guaranteed.  A new study has concluded that (in layman's terms), breed assumption is NOT indicative of behavior in mixed breed dogs.  Therefore, if a dog looks presumably to be a German Shepherd breed, one cannot assume the dog will have a high prey drive.  From the study: "Although many physical traits were associated with breeds, behavior was much more variable among individual dogs. In general, physical trait heritability was a greater predictor of breed but was not necessarily a predictor of breed ancestry in mutts. Among behavioral traits, biddability—how well dogs respond to human direction—was the most heritable by breed but varied significantly among individual dogs. Thus, dog breed is generally a poor predictor of individual behavior and should not be used to inform decisions relating to selection of a pet dog" - https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/science.abk0639 ##2099749##

Story
Adoption Fee: $475 All animals are fixed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines (may need boosters). From the Foster: I'm writing this bio while Bob rests his head in my lap. My 7-year-old son named him Bob after the minion with different colored eyes. My teenage son (who groans every time I say we're getting a foster dog), sums up Bob this way: "I like this one. He's part husky. He's well behaved. Mostly potty-trained. And cuddly. Can we keep him?" Bob has been happy to sleep in his crate at our house at night. He loves to play with our 1-year-old puppy. Sometimes he plays fetch. The other day, I was sitting on the bed. He jumped up on the bed, stood there for a few seconds, and then fell like a fainting goat into my lap. It was hilarious. Maybe you had to be there. Bob is sleeping in my lap now. He loves life, he is funny and very lovable. Learn how to adopt me: www.coloradopuppy.org/how-to-adopt
