Story
Hi, I'm Kenai, your next best friend! I'm a friendly 6 year old Siberian Husky with so much love to give. I have a tendancy to run off- as typical for Huskies, so I will need a fenced yard or a secure spot when I'm outside. I'm currently in a foster home, where my foster says I'm the best guy around! I'm looking for my next adventure, could it be with you? If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2334110##

Story
Neo is a beautiful 2+ year old husky.  He is housebroken and crate trained however he does not care for a crate and will let you know.   He can be okay with a cat with time but does like to chase them.  He loves his people and wants to be with them.  We are told he’s good with children but would likely be too much for toddlers.  He needs a fenced in yard but can climb a chain link fence but only seems to do it when trying to get to his people.   He is good with other dogs in a neutral environment, but he can   be dominate so tends to pick on the older and more submissive dogs in his foster home.  He’s affectionate and a good boy that needs the right home and someone who is familiar with huskies or have done their research on the breed .  If you are interested, complete the  Adoption Application  on our website at  www.NeedyPaws.org  and we will contact you.  Adopters must live within an hour’s drive of St. Louis, MO. Neo's adoption fee is $275.00, which includes up-to-date vaccinations, heartworm testing and preventative, spay/neuter and microchip. We are a 100% foster-based rescue and all of our dogs live in approved foster homes. We are dedicated to finding the best Forever Homes, and will perform home visits and conduct veterinarian and reference checks for each potential adopter. Story
Hi, I’m Teddy! My foster mom says I’m the total package. She brags about how highly intelligent, charming, loving, and gentle I am. She calls me Teddy Bear but tries not to embarrass me by saying it around my many friends. I love kids of all ages and adults! And dogs are my favorite. I love to sniff and wag at the sight of any new friends I come across. My foster mom knows that I already know how to sit and shake (and I may have a few more tricks up my paw). I pride myself on being calm and chill—I don’t bark unless I’m in high-play mode. My mornings consist of waking up in my foster sister’s bed—she’s a cool teen with a super soft bed. But sometimes I end up in my dog bed next to hers, if I feel like it. My foster dad takes me out on a leash to go potty and for a walk, and then we eat breakfast. I may also enjoy a treat at that time. I then proceed to find my favorite spot on the couch and sleep or rest quietly. I fold in well to the lazy routine of my young Sheltie friend who is sharing his house with me. He loves to play chase but mostly sleep.  When we do play, I catch him easily with a slight trot, and try to be very gentle with him. He also loves to snuggle with me and at first, he was invading my personal space, but I’m cool with it now. Even though he’s like a stage-five clinger, he is sharing his family with me, so I’m grateful. I walk well on a leash and am easy going. But my foster mom would tell you that I’m a master at escaping. I love to run (don’t judge me—it’s in my DNA). The times I have snuck out, despite their best efforts, I took a bit of a joy run around their neighborhood and came back to hang around the house after. It is hard to get me to come in after I’ve been out like that, but they have managed and can share a few tricks and lessons learned. Ideally, you have light foot traffic in and out due to this and live in a neighborhood that is not by busy roads. Taking me out on long walks is ideal and especially when I first arrive, so I can get the lay of the land and know how to find you if I ever do get out by accident. If you are interested, complete the  Adoption Application  on our website at  www.NeedyPaws.org  and we will contact you.  Adopters must live within an hour’s drive of St. Louis, MO. Teddy's adoption fee is $275.00, which includes up-to-date vaccinations, heartworm testing and preventative, spay/neuter and microchip. We are a 100% foster-based rescue and all of our dogs live in approved foster homes. Story
Nola was found in a shopping cart outside a Walmart in Texas while my family and I were on vacation. We decided we had to bring her home to St. Louis with us. Since that day she has been a part of our family, has had all shots and vaccinations, micro-chipped, she is approx 9-10 months old. She is husky mix, possibly mixed Belgiun mal. Nola has so much energy and is very playful and loving , extremely smart and has much potential, i picture her future working hard and smart as a police K-9 or a cadaver k-9, she def has the ability, she is in need of new home due to family's health issues, recently realizing family member highly allergic, also , we don't have the time or financial means it would take to properly educate Nola and give her all she deserves, we are heartbroken to learn we will have to surrender her but excited to find her perfect companion and home!! Police officers and military personnel searching for the perfect K-9 companion encouraged to reply.

Story
Chevy has been waiting almost a year for his forever home, and we can’t believe this lovable boy hasn’t been scooped up yet! This 7-year-old, 45-pound husky mix is the perfect combination of sweet, playful, and well-mannered.Chevy is a total gentleman—house-trained, kennel-trained, and respectful of your space. He’s affectionate but not pushy, loves belly rubs, and enjoys playing with stuffed toys. He gets along great with other dogs and knows basic commands like sit, down, and wait. He’s not food or toy aggressive, rarely barks, and isn’t a beggar at mealtime. He loves to ride in the car and gets in easily. While Chevy is wonderful in many ways, he does have a few quirks—he pulls a bit on the leash and has a strong instinct to chase squirrels and cats, so he’ll need a feline-free home. But with his loving personality, excellent manners, and gentle nature, Chevy is such a good boy who deserves a family of his own.Could you be the one to finally give Chevy the forever home he’s been waiting for?IMPORTANT: Please read all below, especially if you live outside of Texas, which is where our rescue is located.Apply to adopt on our website: https://www.charmingpetrescue.org/adoptAll of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots.ALL of our animals are located in Boerne, TX, but transport after adoption is available to other states for a $300 fee for dogs or an additional fee varying by location for cats.
