Story
Macy arrived at NCCR in mid-November after she was discarded by a breeder who had no further use for her. She is an approximately 10-year-old female Husky. Macy seems to be at least partially blind in her left eye. She is a friendly girl who seems to love attention and petting and enjoys being with people. She knows how to walk on-leash, but enjoys her down time as much as her walks. Macy is able to climb low fences, but seems to do well with the shelter’s 6’ fences. She may need work on house training, but seems to be doing very well with it as long as she is kept on a routine schedule. She does not seem to like other dogs much - probably a result of being a breeder mom, she had to always watch out for her pups! Typical of Huskies, she is a shedder, but she loves to be brushed, which makes grooming much easier! If you think you might be interested in adopting, your first step should be to complete an  Adoption Application.  *After you have completed your application, you will get a confirmation that we have received your application. It takes a lot of time to process the applications, so we ask for your patience while we do so. If you see that the dog you were interested in has been adopted it means there were many applications for that dog and we did not get as far as processing your application before a home was found. We welcome you to apply again if you see another dog that interests you.   If you have a question, please email your question to adoptions@caninerescue.org. It is much easier and quicker for us to respond by email as we receive many phone calls each day. We do adopt out of state, however we do not transport or ship dogs. Potential adopter must be able and willing to travel to the Rescue to meet the dog they are interested in. *PLEASE double check all of the phone numbers that you provide as if they are incorrect, we will be unable to process your application. Please also let your references know that someone from NCCR will be calling them. Most adoption team members call from their personal phone so advise your references that there may be an unknown number or a private number calling them. NYS Registration #RR028

Story
Kavic arrived at NCCR in mid-November after he was discarded by a breeder who had no further use for him. He is an 8-year-old neutered male Husky. He is quite friendly and loves attention from people. He also knows how to walk on-leash, and is enthusiastic about playing with his toys – he always has a ball in his mouth! He will need work on house training, but catches on quickly with supervision and consistency. Typical of his breed, Kavic can be quite vocal at times, and he enjoys digging a good hole to lie down in when it’s warm outside. He may be able to get along with other friendly dogs if introduced very gradually 1-on-1, but may do best as the only dog in the home. If you think you might be interested in adopting, your first step should be to complete an  Adoption Application found at caninerescue.org. *After you have completed your application, you will get a confirmation that we have received your application. Story
King is a 5 year old Husky mix weighing around 40lbs. His story is a tear jerker and when we heard it, we had to bring him along with another dog we pulled from a shelter in NJ. King was surrendered in March of 2023 after the families new landlord put in place a no dog policy leaving them no choice but to surrender their beloved dog or lose their home. The shelter manager said it was the most heartbreaking surrender she had ever witnessed and that it was clear how much this family loved their dog. Shortly after, King shut down completely. He stopped eating, wouldn’t go outside, and was incredibly distrusting of all people. Though he improved within his year there, he was still too nervous to be considered adoptable and despite reaching out to 20 some rescues, none stepped up for him. King is now the poster child for how much a different environment can do for a dog. By his second switch over on transport he was wagging his tail, greeting everyone, sniffing around confident as ever and ready to explore the world. King loves hanging out with other easygoing dogs, enjoys the company of cats, eats all of his food with a little bribe (a small amount of wet food mixed in) and has loved meeting new people. He is crate trained and potty trained when on a consistent routine. He loves going for walks but gets excited and is working on his loose leash walking skills. He sometimes wants to mark in new places but we anticipate this behavior will get better after his neuter in July. He does need an adopter who can listen to him and respect his space when needed (for example, he does not like to be picked up or pet/touched abruptly) so he is looking for a home without young children as his only requirement. Please note, King is only available on a foster to adopt basis until his neuter in July. If you’re interested in fostering or adopting, please fill out an application at www.rosebudrescue.com/adopt *If you have previously submitted an application for another dog who is pending or has been adopted, you can email us with your full name and phone number and ask us to process your application for another dog or general pre-approval instead*

Story
Bella is a 15-year-old husky. She is house trained and crate trained, she has experience with all animals, she loves children and she is exceptionally friendly. She's low maintenance very easy to care for. The reason why she is being rehomed because with the passing of my mother unexpectedly medical issues and financial obligations required me to have to move immediately and we are currently this place. At 15 years old she deserves a very consistent and stable life and to live her days very very happy with a loving family or a solo owner who is very kind and loving as well
