*ADOPTION FEE ENTIRELY SPONSORED*Holiday Q&AQ: How long has Holiday been looking for a home? A: Since March 31st, 2023--right now that's over 455 days! Q: Is Holiday friendly?A: Holiday LOVES meeting new people of all ages! Due to her length of stay, she is finding it harder to meet new dogs, although she does really well with her playgroup-mate, Romie! Q: How big is Holiday?A: She's only about 50 lbs, but it is all muscle! Q: Does Holiday struggle with any behaviors?A: Holiday is what we consider "same-sex aggressive" -- we have not had success in the shelter environment introducing her to other females. This could be exacerbated by a high stress and busy environment like the kennel's, or it could just be inherent. She'd also benefit from some brushing up on her leash skills. Q: What are Holiday's favorite activities?A: Zoomies, playing fetch, working for food, going on runs, playing in the pool, playing with her best doggie friends, cuddles, and games of chase with humans! Q: Exemplary traits Holiday possesses? A: I have watched Holiday play for hours with a 3 year old child--she was so tolerant and gentle, allowing the child to stumble over her, put hands inside her mouth, take toys from her, and throw them. From a dog with such intense bursts of energy and physical strength, it was very surprising and pleasant to observe! Q: What is Holiday's energy level like?A: Holiday exits the gate hot--her zoomies are fast, furious, and frenetic! We understand that she can appear overwhelming. However, she tires out very fast and is more than content to just sit and play with her toy once she's exhausted herself--about 15 minutes or under, especially in the summer. Q: What would be Holiday's ideal home placement? A: Holiday would do well in an active home. She has done a great job with every person she has ever met, all the way from a 3month old infant to clumsy toddlers to rowdy teenagers to older adults--we think she would love a home with kids. No other female dogs; however, she has proven that she will get along perfectly with many males! As long as her short bursts of energy are given an outlet, she should be a breeze. Q: Why is Holiday still at the shelter?A: While people have shown some interest in her, they are usually intimidated by her strength and speed. We wish people would give her some grace and allow her to calm down-- being in this shelter environment means that 23 out of 24 hours, she is locked inside with nothing to do besides listen to the other dogs bark, sleep, or chew on her Nylabone--now compound that by 455+ days STRAIGHT without any kind of break. Her energy explodes out loudly, but with a proper outlet, we think that she would be easy and pleasant to have around and do very well in a loving and patient home.

Story
Meeka was an owner surrender who came to our care when her previous owner (battling stage IV cancer) could no longer care for her. Meeka is an active, healthy, freshly 2 years old German Shepherd/Husky mix with bright blue eyes. Described as active and energetic, Meeka is also super affectionate. She is housebroken and crate trained and great with other dogs, big or small. Her favorite games are playing fetch with/catching balls, chasing her doggy and human friends, and playing in the water. She LOVES splashing in our kiddy pools, and she is obsessed with the hose even more! Her first owner said that she travels well. She is smart with a large capacity for learning and eager to train with you!
