Story
Nova is a beautiful 1-1/2 year old female Husky who arrived at the HSOV on December 5, 2023 after being picked up on Ohio Avenue in Belpre Ohio by the Washington County Ohio Dog Warden. Nova was wearing a nice pink 'girlie' collar, but there was neither an id tag nor a dog tag on her collar ... And she was not microchipped. Nova has a white/cream medium-haired coat with subtle black shading, a magnificent long curled fluffy tail, and a classic Husky face with a slender muzzle and large erect ears. Nova's left eye is brown and her right eye is pale blue. This little sweetheart has a happy, outgoing personality and was full of playful mischief when HSOV Lead Canine Kennel Tech Jared Nash accompanied her for outdoor glamour photos on December 6th. Nova was in good hands with Jared and Nova pranced around posed as though she was a wanna-be contestant in the Westminster 'Best of Show' competition. Nova weighs 47 lbs and walks fairly well on a leash. We've learned that Nova is NOT good cats. In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Nova was held for three days so that her family would have an opportunity to reclaim her with proof of ownership. Surprisingly nobody called or came looking for this beautiful girl. UPDATE: Nova went home with a foster family on February 7, 2024 who plans to adopt her after she is spayed. Nova was spayed on February 13, 2024 and was also given rabies vaccine. Nova came back to the HSOV on July 23, 2024 and is available for adoption. Nova was adopted on July 27, 2024 but, unfortunately, Nova was returned on July 29, 2024 because she was exhibiting food aggression behavior. This beautiful girl is looking for an experienced handler who can help her overcome her behavior around food.

Story
Iris is a beautiful 4-1/2 year old female Husky who was brought to the HSOV on August 5, 2024 after she was picked up by the Washington County Ohio Dog Warden. Iris was scanned and a microchip was detected, so she will be held for two-weeks since her owner has been identified and will hopefully be reclaimed. Iris has a stunning red-and-white medium-haired coat, a long fluffy curled tail, and a classic Husky face with pale blue eyes, a red-and-white mask, a liver-colored nose, and large erect ears. It turns out that this little beauty had been at HSOV in December 2021. Since Iris was not reclaimed at that time, she was spayed on January 31, 2022 and was also given rabies vaccine. She weighed 32.4 lbs. Iris was adopted on February 1, 2022. Note; These photos were taken on December 15, 2021. We will take updated photos if Iris is not reclaimed.

Story
Ember is an adorable female Husky mix puppy who was brought to the HSOV on March 6, 2024 along with her three siblings (Cicada fka Mira, Nani and Odin) and her mother (Skye). They were also accompanied by a handsome male Plott Hound (Rocky). Ember and her siblings were tiny 6-week old babies at that time. This little family was reportedly found in the Vincent, Ohio area at the Barlow Fairgrounds. This little sweetheart has a shiny black short smooth coat with tan/brindle shading on her legs/paws, a patch of white on her chest, a long tail, and a beautiful puppy face with with dark brown eyes, a black button nose on her slender muzzle, and extra-large erect ears. Ember and her sisters/brother were raised by their mother Skye in a quiet area of our shelter where they had their very own mini-apartment, and Skye was a good momma who knew when to discipline them and when to join in their silly puppy games to teach them to play and enjoy life. Ember has a lovable, affectionate disposition and a fun-loving, outgoing personality. These photos of Ember were taken on April 23, 2024 when HSOV Volunteer Emma Dahlgren helped her with 'big girl' glamour pictures. Ember was a delight to photograph and sooo photogenic! She weighed 12-15 lbs that day. Ember and her sister Cicada are currently in foster care and are ready (as of August 9, 2024) to begin interviewing candidates to be their forever family. Please submit an HSOV foster/adoption application for approval if you are interested in giving one or both of these girls a loving home. Ember and Cicada will be spayed before being officially adopted. Ember's siblings (Nani and Odin) are also in foster-to-adopt homes .. And her mother Skye went home with a foster family on May 3, 2024 who plans to adopt her after she is spayed.

Story
Harley was brought to the shelter on 7/22/2024 as a surrender. Despite being completely full of dogs, we couldn't turn her sweet face away. She was covered in ticks and needed our help. Sweet Harley has been tied outside since she was adopted from another shelter two months ago. She got a little curious about the chickens and ended up hurting some of them. This sweet girl is microchipped, spayed, and up to date on her vaccines. If you are interested in adopting little Harley, her fee is $200 with an approved application.
