THIS IS A COURTESY POST, not a Loved at Last dog. Please contact the person or group below for more info. For more info or to adopt, please contact Ralf at  ralfaggarwal@gmail.com. Adoption fee $100. Rafa was rescued from a Korean meat factory at around 3 months, and fostered until he was 7 months old, before he was adopted. He’s currently in Penticton, BC. Rafa is a sweet boy, but is in urgent need of an experienced owner that can direct him and provide a better home. He is good with people and has never shown any signs of aggression towards humans, but has shown reactive aggression towards other dogs and must be kept on a lead until he is taught to play with other dogs in a non-reactive manner. He loves being petted! Rafa has a high energy level and needs to have a space to run for at least 30 mins 3 times a day, preferably with other dogs. He truly enjoys swimming in the summer to fetch a frisbee and running to play fetch in large fields. He would be great in a home with a mature dog that is still active and playful. In fact he would benefit from it and hasn’t been exposed to cats. He has prey drive and will run after a flock of birds or deer, but will recall with the signal of clapping hands. He’s not a flight risk in general but gets easily distracted. He’s ok with leash walking but needs more work. With a training collar, he has learned to sit when he is forced to stop. Rafa is housetrained, but he doesn’t enjoy the crate. He barks and whines when left alone in the crate. No resource guarding and no destructive behaviour towards furniture – food of any kind on the counters is fair game for him. Rafa is a beautiful, loving dog and wants to play, please and cuddle. He is a very smart dog, and with an experienced, confident dog owner, he will flourish. Rafa is a dog's dog. He needs another alpha doggy companion brother or sister – a dog that can show him the ropes – plus an experienced owner with time. He wants direction and he is looking for it! He comes with a crate, 2 harnesses, 2 leashes, a training collar, his toys to play with and fetch, feeding dishes and food, even a cute set of socks for the winter...and a great BIG heart! If he sounds like your kind of companion, please contact Ralf at ralfaggarwal@gmail.com to set up an interview.  ##1783795##

Story
Hello, My name is Jim and here is a little info about me:Breed: Jack Russell Terrier/Maltese mixAge: 2 years oldGender: Male, neuteredWeight: 25 lbsHeight: 13 in I am a fun-loving dog with energy galore.  I know I will thrive on your love and affection as well as your guidance and direction.  I love to cuddle and hug and seek your affection and reassurance regularly. My care taker tells me about how much she is proud of me – and I like that.   I was found roaming the streets in a small village in the Middle East.  I was underweight, dirty and very hungry.  But then some people came along and rescued me! My rescuers are not sure if I had owners or not – but I've been in a shelter for some time now.   I love to play with other dogs and I am living with lots of dogs right now at the shelter. If you are a fun loving, experienced dog owner, please apply for me right away!  I want someone to love me for the rest of my life. I would do best in a home without cats.  The shelter staff are training me in social etiquette inside and outside the shelter and I’m getting lots of exposure to new situations; my training will need to be ongoing in my new home. Let’s have some fun!  I am a happy go lucky boy, with a moderate/high energy level, just perfect, right? Energy Level: Moderate/high I get along with:Dogs: YesCats: UnknownKids: Unknown Prey drive: My adopter needs to be willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise. Training: basicLeash skills: goodHouse trained: Yes but be prepared to train me in a new home My adoption fee is $850.00 CAD plus applicable taxes. Due to the present confrontational Middle East environment where this dog resides, airlines are minimally operating. He/She may therefore be delayed in arriving to Canada. He/She will eventually be sent, but we have no specified timeframe at this moment. If you are willing to wait, we and this dog appreciate your patience. Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems. Basic training should be taken seriously but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you. While most dogs find escorting passengers flying directly to Vancouver, some will find flights through Toronto or  Montreal. In that case, additional fees will apply to fly your dog to Vancouver by cargo. Unaccompanied cargo costs within Canada range from $350 - $550 depending on the size of the dog. LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs. Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if the dog is shown to be good with children we will approve homes with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website.  [MID EAST DOGS] *Vaccinations: Dogs from the Middle East are vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper, leptospirosis, adenovirus type 1 and para-influenza. (BONDED WITH XIAOMAN)My name is LIXIA and here is a little info about me:Breed: Terrier/Pekinese mixAge: 6 yrsGender: maleWeight: 13 lbsHeight: 8 inchesCountry of origin: ChinaHighlight(s): affectionate, cleanly, independent, gentle, quiet, obedient While independent, I also love affection. Since cleanliness is a big thing of mine, you can be assured you'll be snuggling a clean pup. My name means the beginning of Summer. Quite appropriate, wouldn't you say? As I will bring sunshine into your life.A person who lives in the neighborhood of where we were found as strays saw us. Over the past four years, we were witnessed living together, relying on occasional leftover food from neighbors. This person always felt sorry for us, but lacked the means, ability, and courage to rescue us, all the while feeling guilty and helpless. Earlier this year, this lovely person noticed our condition deteriorating. We were navigating busy streets, scavenging from trash cans, and drinking dirty water mixed with food scraps and garbage. Our fur started getting matted and falling out, and I developed a bloody eye growth.Determined to save us, our overseeing angel posted our situation on social media. A rescuer  saw the plea and decided to help rescue us. We were transported to a nearby hospital for checkups and treatment. We were both severely malnourished and had poor coat conditions. We were properly treated and I underwent surgery for my eye problem. After treatment, we were discharged. Now our rescuer has taken us back to her town for foster care, until we can find a home together. I have been shaved down to treat my skin and remove all the mats. No worries, it will grow back for new photos later. It was discovered I have hypothyroidism and am on Euthyrox medication for it. I was checked for Cushing's, but that was negative. I have lost a few teeth and have dental tartar, requiring a bit more dental follow up and possibly some extractions. Dental health is good overall otherwise, a detailed checkup is yet pending. My most recent vet visit, May 17, 2024, confirmed my health is up to par at this time otherwise.I am well-behaved on a leash. Though I can get anxious if I feel too much separation from my people and quickly try to catch up.Gentle and quiet is how my rescuer describes me. I am also an obedient pupper. My friend Xiaoman and I must be adopted together, as we are pretty bonded after surviving the streets together. We would likely adapt to most any home. We get along with other dogs, though we haven't been introduced to cats. Story
Hello, My name is Lynx and here is a little info about me: Breed: Terrier/Bichon mixAge: About 3 years old (born in February 2021)Gender: Male, neuteredWeight: 15 lbs / 6.8 kgHeight: 13 in Highlight(s): Good with other dogs, kids, people, very affectionate I was found roaming the streets in a small town in the Middle East. I was underweight, dirty, and very hungry.  Thankfully, it seemed I hadn't been abused by humans while surviving on the streets, as I readily accepted food from those kind enough to offer.  I've learned to love and accept human attention, it was really missing in my life.  My rescuer saw what a kind pup I was, and found it in her heart to provide me a chance at a new life off the streets and in a shelter, where I've received vet care, socialization with other displaced dogs, and love and attention by the humans who work/volunteer here. I'm a pretty cute guy-- have you noticed my sweet eyes?!  I love making new friends with the humans and shelter mates where I'm staying.  It's been a relief to be off the streets, however I know that there's a better life out there for me.  I am a very smart pup!  Eager to please, it doesn't take me long to understand commands with the right guidance.  Given the opportunity, I will learn all the tricks you have the patience to teach me. My rescue mom often tells me that I'm well-behaved and don't cause any trouble. I have not shown any signs of aggression towards people and other dogs. I really don't get a chance to run around at the shelter as I live in a small crowded yard with a small room but, being a young dog, I require daily activities and really want to be given the opportunity to run. It would be so amazing to go for walks and hikes with my forever family in Canada. I am looking forward to finding my forever home where I can settle down and make endless memories.  Energy Level: Medium/High I get along with:Dogs: YesCats: UnknownKids: Yes  Fears: Unknown/none observed. THIS IS A COURTESY POST. PLEASE CONTACT THE PERSON OR GROUP LISTED BELOW. THIS IS NOT A LOVED AT LAST DOG.  Please do NOT submit an application through LALDR. Please contact Robyn at 604-716-8204 or rfashler@gmail.com for more information or to adopt. Dog's name: PennyAge: 10Breed, if known (best guess): Jack Russell Terrier mixWeight: 12.9kg / 28lbsGender: Female **NEW FUR-EVER HOME OR LONG-TERM FOSTER NEEDED** Meet Miss Penny! Penny is a wonderful dog. She is smart, sweet, chill, and loves spending quality time with her humans, though she is not much of a cuddler. Some of her favourite activities are basking in the sunshine, sniffing through tall grass, gazing out windows, and joining her humans on car rides or road trips.  Penny is also extremely adaptable, flexible, and HIGHLY trainable. She's got all of her foundational commands down, plus some fancier ones, cooperative care protocol, and she's nice & polite walking on lead.  Penny is a VIP and needs to be in a one-dog, no-kid home. Penny is reactive to some situations and that does require management. Part of this is taking anti-anxiety medication (x3)/day. She would be best suited to someone who is experienced with behaviour modification and positive reinforcement training methods. I will be happy to have a full conversation regarding this with whoever is interested in adopting Penny. Penny is in excellent health, spayed, and is up to date on all of her shots.  We are asking for $150 which will be donated to the BCSPCA. Alternatively, for those who are interested in fostering her, the time frame we are looking for is ~1.5yr. Life with Penny is incredibly fulfilling, rewarding, fun, and heartwarming.  For those who are interested, please contact Robyn at 604-716-8204. THIS IS A COURTESY POST. Sitting on your lap giving you lovins is what I live for, as I am quite affectionate.I was being kept in a mechanic shop when I was just one month old. I was taken to the shelter after an injury cut my right paw. They probably didn't want to pay to have it cared for. The lovely rescuers at the shelter had my paw treated and it is all healed up.I have no problem walking or playing with my paw now, even though I have a couple less toes. My ankle is in need of better nutrition to strengthen up yet though. I may always have a bit of a limp, though it is hoped once I am in better care, it will lessen as a problem (as often these things have with other dogs over time.) I'm really too small to safely remain at the shelter, so need a home. Hoping that is with you.A quiet & smart girl is little me. I do like to play with other dogs and toys. I am good about following and listening to direction, as well as being easy to train.I'd love a home to match my personality, relaxed yet playful... semi-active yet willing to snuggle.
