Story
Meet Colby Jack! Colby is a happy 4 year old Jack RussellBoxer mix. Colby adores being with his people especially when he gets lots of cuddles. He leans into your leg when he's getting lovies and shows you his big smile! Colby enjoys hanging out with laid back dogs. He and his foster sister, Elly, enjoy rambling around the backyard finding new things to sniff.  He weighs approximately 35lbs which is a good, manageable size for your lap!. He loves to play with humans but may be a bit too playful for toddlers or younger children. He’s crate trained but it is not his favorite place to be. He walks well on a leash and would make a great hiking or running buddy. Colby spent the first year of his life on a chain and has really blossomed into a very loving dog who craves attention. We think Colby would do best with a family that doesn't live in a congested area with lots of noise and has another dog to play with. He doesn't care for delivery trucks entering his domain or lots of strangers. Colby is very smart but craves attention and stong leadership, He really needs a strong pack leader to help him along his journey. . He passed his professional obedience training with flying colors so he already knows the basics. He is up to date on vaccines, neutered, and microchipped. Colby is available for adoption at www.dirtroaddoggiesrescue.org         ##1087310##

Story
JosieBreed: Jack Russel TerrierFemaleDOB: 1/10/19Adoption Fee: $200Josie is a very sweet girl, who loves a snuggle and belly rubs. She was abandoned outside as a puppy, and has real anxiety about being outside. It is pretty sad to see, but we’re working through it. Inside though, she is a joyful dog that loves to lay by your side, play with toys, and is good with calmer dogs. She has a funny personality, and even likes to do a little dance for her supper. She understands sit, stay, shake, lay down, and is good on a leash. Josie is obviously a very smart dog, but the fear of going outside is her struggle in life, and as such, will need continued support in poty training. This is Josie's second time at the rescue. She has been in a foster home since October, where they are working to help her and love her, but she'll need someone to pick up where they leave off. She needs a patient and understanding adopter, who is able to work with her in a calm and loving environment. She really is a sweetheart, but so scared of being outside. This special dog needs a special someone to show her the way. Please read the animal bios completely before requesting additional information as we do our best to answer the most frequently ask questions in these bios. In order to adopt one of our animals an application must be submitted and approved. You can find these applications by going to http://humanemorgan.org/index.php?page=adoption ABOUT ADOPTING FROM THE HSMC: The shelter address is 1170 Fairground Rd. Madison, GA 30650. We are open 10am-5pm Monday-Saturday, we schedule our last adoption at 4pm everyday to allow our staff enough time to feed and walk dogs. We are an animal shelter and therefore are not able to individually potty train our residents. Many adult dogs do arrive “house broken” however due to animal behavior any change in environment will make an emotional impact on the animals and therefore initiate unwanted behaviors during the acclamation period. Please keep this in mind. Puppies do not have the biological maturity to maintain absolute bladder or bowel control and will require a certain degree of potty training and house breaking. Please consider the time and commitment it takes to provide the necessary building blocks for these special babies, prior to submitting your application. If you have any questions please email us at info@humanemorgan.org and provide name of the animal you are interested in, in the subject line. Story
Howdy, everyone! Dolly here. I’m an outgoing girl who is good with most dogs and people. I was just spayed Oct. 8, and am now UTD on my shots, microchipped, and ready to roll after recovery. I am a sweet girl about 2 years old and am the “beige version” of my already-adopted sister, Penny (now Cookie). I am learning to walk on a leash and am really getting the hang of it. Before, I would just lie there like a brick and stare at you. Now I know it means we’re going on adventures! Woohoo! As with all of the rescues here, I will require a secure, above-ground fenced yard to keep me safe. https://www.jackrusselladoptions.org/adopt-a-dog/

Story
Hi, everyone. I’m Katie and I’m a special girl! I am beautiful and happy to be with my favorite people but very independent as far as most human society is concerned. I have come a long way since I arrived here at rescue in 2023. I came from the same backyard breeder as Angel and her puppies (Grace and Blackberry), but luckily I escaped the terrible genetic defect that shortened little Blackberry’s life. I will probably never be a true cuddle pup, but I’m good with other dogs, I love my porch life and my Dogloo and I definitely enjoy Benebones to the fullest! I’m not a fan of leash walking — and yes, they are working on that with me, but so far I’m “winning.” As you know, there’s stubbornness and then there’s JRT stubborn. 😉 When you look in my eyes, you see that I was not given the life I should have had and now that it is available, I sometimes don’t quite believe in it. I’m about 3 years, old, UTD on my shots, microchipped, and, most importantly, spayed! I will make a great quiet companion … well, unless the delivery truck arrives! I would do best in a house without small children as I have never been around them and they might make me uncomfortable. As with all of the rescues here, I will need a secure, above-ground fence to keep me safe. https://www.jackrusselladoptions.org/adopt-a-dog/

Story
Sugar Plum is an approximately 8-9 month-old Hound mix. She was apparently hit by a car when she was younger but was not treated. After being rescued, her leg needed to be amputated due to the damage, but this little girl is doing great. Based on her behavior now, you can see how uncomfortable she must have been.  Sugar Plum was too thin when rescued, but she is now 32 pounds, a healthy weight. She loves to take walks and play (you wouldn't know she is a tripod). Sugar is very much a   big puppy and is making up for her lost puppyhood. She’s very smart and sweet but had little to no prior training. But now, she is house-trained and crate-trained, though she isn't a fan of the crate. She is also learning to walk on a leash and is still working on that. She now knows commands like sit, down, paw, and, if lucky, a short stay. She loves meeting new people and car rides. Sugar Plum does like children, but because of her size, energy, and being a big puppy, only older children should be considered.  Sugar is a good watchdog. Hence, she’ll bark at anything she hears, and, sometimes, when she’s had enough crate time. So no apartments or condos for her. Her  ideal home will be with an active family, where she can take long walks and has a fenced yard. She also loves to lie in the sun and would love to have another dog playmate. She wants to play with other dogs so badly, but she is still learning how to play. She was able to get her foster mom's grumpy, 12-year-old pup to play with her,  There is also some separation anxiety, so another dog would be helpful. She also needs an adopter who has dog experience and understands she needs further training and patience.  She’s truly a great dog with a lot of good qualities who just needs someone to help her grow up.           An Adoption Application for this dog can be found and submitted online. http://www.angelsrescue.org/adopt/adoption-forms  Please be sure to like our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/angelsrescue.  Email inquiry@angelsrescue.org  Note: Some apartments and neighborhoods have breed restrictions. We verify rental policies and adhere to any regulations. Please ensure you understand those restrictions before choosing a dog.          January 28, 2025, 9:59 am
