Story
Star is a playful, sweet, and friendly puppy who is always ready for an adventure! At about 5 Months Old and 10 lbs. He enjoys playing fetch indoors  and gets so excited to meet new dogs during walks. He’s still working on being a bit calmer around new people and dogs, but with his friendly nature, he’s a quick learner! Star is crate trained and and he’s super comfortable in his crate at night. He’s curious about the world, loves getting pets, and is eager to please, making him a joy to be around. His ideal home would be with someone who’s excited to keep up with his energy and help him continue his training—especially teaching him new things like sitting! ##2280091##

Story
RUBY - 1 year, 21.5lbs, Terrier Mix, Spayed  Their Foster Parent Says: "Ruby is a soft-spirited, sweet, and calm girl. I am very impressed with her relaxed and trusting personality, especially after all she has recently gone through. She starts her morning calmly, anticipating our wake-up, and enjoys a chin rub before going for a walk. She behaves well on a leash, listens to the command ‘sit,’ and works on ‘stay.’ She potties outside like a true pro. She gets along well with two dogs in my home: one large and one small. She loves affection and will follow ‘her person’ around the house. She does not have separation anxiety when we leave the house. She is the perfect house guest. She is beyond affectionate, the top cuddle bug who loves her people and enjoys belly rubs and kissing my dogs throughout the day." Level of dog ownership experience needed:BEGINNER: This means we predict this dog will be low on the challenge scale due to its breed/age combo. Potentially a good fit for someone who has relevant dog care experience (fostering, dog sitting) and is looking to adopt their first pup).  Energy levelMEDIUM: Needs a daily 60-90 minute walk or window of quick paced exercise (minimum) in addition to potty break strolls (10-30 min each). Also needs significant socializing opportunities outside the home and mental stimulation at home like tricks training practice, chew items, and puzzle toys. (This is regardless of dog size – many small breeds were designed for lots of activity and will exhibit unwanted behavior when they’re understimulated.)  Cuddle Bug Level: High Potty Trained: Yes  Comfy with Strangers: Yes but a little bit shyer  Comfy with Kids: (Always Requires Supervision): Would be okay for a home with respectful kids  Good with other dogs: Yes, she is good with my chocolate lab, my terrier mix, and my mother's Chihuahua. (Still, she prefers the company of humans.) Mouthy Behavior: past this stage of life, not mouthy   (Doesnt chew on anything, not even toys or treats)  Leash Behavior: old pro, great on leash Okay In The City: getting their (Walks okay on the leash but still needs time to adjust! She is positively curious about snow!) Jumping on People to Say High: Low, pretty good at keeping all 4 on the floor  Separation Anxiety: Nope, fine home alone  Crate Training: Working on it  (we keep one out, with the door open, though she prefers to sleep next to it.  Medical status:Healthy as far as we know. Up to date on their DHPP, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines; heartworm negative; spayed/neutered; microchipped; treated with dewormer upon intake How this dog ended up with Social Tees:Most of our dogs come via partner groups who help us save them from shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia in Tennessee, Puerto Rico or Southern California. There are very few spay/neuter resources there and many more animals in those areas than there are people to adopt them. Rescue groups like ours bring them to the northeast where the desire for pets like these allows us to save their lives. ##2284451##

Story
YARA - Terrier Mix, 1.5 years, 21lbs, Spayed  Her Foster Mom Says: Yara is a bundle of sweetness and energy. She is a companion dog through and through, wanting to be by your side 24/7. She needs her exercise, but wants her person involved by playing fetch, tug, or running around together. Once home, she wants to be touching her people. If she’s not sitting in your lap, she’s laying on your feet. Yara is house trained, great when left alone in her crate, loves all people she meets, and would be thrilled to have a canine companion. She is a true terrier so her prey drive is high. A home without small pets or cats would be best.  Energy LevelHigh— Requires lots of activity like jogging, long walks, would thrive with agility trainingCuddle Bug LevelHigh— Wants to be in your lap pretty much all the timePotty TrainedYes— Few or no accidentsComfy with strangers?Yep— Wants to be friends with everyone who walks by, super social butterfly, loves anyone who will stop to say hello.Comfortable with Children?Yes for 12 and up— **she can be super excitable and a bit pushy when she playing. Best if she’s with older kids that know when to help her chill out**Social with Other Dogs?Yes— Good with all other dogs (sizes, breeds, etc.) as far as we know and enjoys socializing with other caninesRespectful of Other Animals? (cats, small pets, etc.)Nope— **SUPER HIGH prey drive. Fixates on birds and squirrels and is hard to get her to continue on walks once she sees them. Has the stare on our cat anytime she can see her. Will not try to introduce them**Mouthy Behavior?Low– Little to no interest in chewing on stuff or putting things in its mouth that aren’t food. Doesn’t try to chew on hands, feet, etc. during playtime, doesn’t wreck your stuff — only chews on appropriate things like dog toys and bones.Leash Manners?Getting the Hang of it– Probably hasn’t been on a leash much in its life but he/she is figuring it out. Might be a mild puller but responds to correction.Okay in the city?Yes— Seems unfazed by the sights and sounds, they may as well have been born here.Jumping on People to Say Hi?High– Very excited to greet everyone and has no idea how to do so politely. Jumps up on most strangers or other dogs that go by. In puppy phase or wasn’t trained as a young adult.Separation Anxiety?Low– Completely fine being left home alone. Doesn’t cry or do anything shitty when you leave the apartment or house.Crate training?Yep/mostly– Seems comfortable in the crate, may whine a little at first but settles pretty quickly. Medical statusHealthy as far as we know. Story
RIVER - 2 years, 16lbs, Terrier Mix, Spayed Thier Foster Parent Says: "River is an incredibly sweet, certified good girl. She loves playing with toys, being around people, belly and head scratches, snuggling, and above all else - food! She's housebroken, good on a leash, knows her name, comfortable in her crate, good with other dogs of all sizes, doesn't chew on things she's not supposed to, and a people person through-and-through. Within hours of her arrival to our apartment, she made herself right at home – ate her dinner, played with toys, jumping into our laps for kisses and belly rubs. Her puppy energy manifests in excessive face kisses, following us around everywhere we go, and night zoomies. Things we're working on: digging her paws on the rug, not jumping up to give unsolicited face kisses, basic commands (sit and stay). We have seen her "mouth" (not biting or chewing) our hands or a blanket when we're playing and she's all riled up." Level of dog ownership experience needed:INTERMEDIATE: As an adult, this dog will need significant structure and plenty of daily exercise, training, and mental stimulation – 90 consecutive minutes of movement in the morning plus potty break walks and brain games throughout the day. The adopter must have relevant primary care experience with a similar breed, temperament, and/or energy level. (Primary care experience includes ownership, fostering, or dog sitting as an adult, not a dog you grew up with.) Relevant puppy care experience is a huge plus, but bare minimum the adopter must have TONS of time and patience. Raising a puppy can be a lot of fun, but it’s also  tremendous work. Puppies’ personalities and exercise/stimulation requirements change dramatically between now and when they’re a year old as their bodies and brains develop, so an active lifestyle and the ability to adapt to a pup’s evolving needs are a must. We strongly urge professional dog training with a rewards based trainer from the get go. Adults only or kids ages 8 and up – all puppies go through a mouthy, rambunctious phase and often accidentally hurt children when playing. PLEASE DO YOUR OWN BREED RESEARCH to make sure you have a better understanding of the kind of temperament and exercise requirements this dog may have as an adult. Energy levelMEDIUM: Very young puppies sleep and nap a lot, but their energy level skyrockets when they become teens (4 months to around a year). As an adult, this dog will need significant structure and plenty of daily exercise, training, and mental stimulation – 90 consecutive minutes of movement in the morning plus potty break walks and brain games throughout the day at a minimum. (This is regardless of dog size – many small breeds were designed for lots of activity and will exhibit unwanted behavior when they’re understimulated.)  Cuddle Bug Level High — Wants to be in your lap pretty much all the time Potty TrainedYes — Few or no accidents Comfy with strangers? Yep — Wants to be friends with everyone who walks by, super social butterfly, loves anyone who will stop to say hello.  Comfortable with Children? (cats, small pets, etc.) Somewhere between sort of and yesMouthy Behavior? Low – Little to no interest in chewing on stuff or putting things in its mouth that aren’t food. Might be a mild puller but responds to correction.  Okay in the city? Sort of — Spooked easily by loud noises and bustling areas but walks pretty well and probably just needs more time to adjust (may be a puppy or a brand new rescue) Jumping on People to Say Hi? High – Very excited to greet everyone and has no idea how to do so politely. Jumps up on most strangers or other dogs that go by. In puppy phase or wasn’t trained as a young adult. Separation Anxiety? Nope  – Completely fine being left home alone.
