Story
Possess may be smaller than his brother, Prisoners, but don’t let his size fool you—he’s twice as fierce! This 2-month-old, 6 pound (as of 3/15) Labradoodle/German Shepherd mix is full of personality, always ready to play, and not afraid to take charge. He loves to boss his brother around, but when playtime is over, he’s just as quick to snuggle up and smother him in kisses. This sweet and spunky boy loves being outside, playing with toys, cuddling, and getting all the pets. He enjoys romping around with other dogs and will happily soak up all the attention from people, including kids and adults. After burning off his puppy energy, he’ll melt right into your arms for some well-deserved snuggles. While he’s still working on potty training and crate training, Possess is smart and eager to learn. He does bark (because, well, he has things to say!), but he doesn’t resource guard and travels well. Possess is looking for a loving home that will give him the space to run, play, and cuddle to his heart’s content. Could that be you? Story
Pity is an adorable, playful 2 month old, 8 pound (as of 3/26) puppy with a sweet and curious nature. She has plenty of energy but also enjoys frequent naps, often curling up next to you for comfort. She loves cuddles, playing with toys, and exploring her surroundings, though she’s still getting used to loud noises. Pity is food-motivated and a quick learner—she mastered "sit" after just a few tries and is currently working on "stay." She is puppy pad trained and house trained, though she’s still perfecting her routine. She doesn’t bark excessively and remains calm when visitors arrive. Since Pity is still a young puppy, she will need continued training, especially when it comes to appropriate chewing. She hasn’t been leash trained yet due to her age but she’s been introduced to the outdoors. While she’s cautious with new sights and sounds, she stays calm when held and doesn’t react to people, vehicles, or animals. Pity would thrive in a loving home that can provide her with guidance and patience as she grows. She’s a sweet and affectionate pup who will make a wonderful companion! Story
Polaroid- 8 weeks, 6lbs, Doodle & GSD Mix, NeuteredWe know the parents: Mom is a 70lb doodle and Dad is GSD Expected full grown size is at least 70lbs   Want to adopt? Submit an adoption application at socialteesnyc.org. Level of dog ownership experience needed:INTERMEDIATE: As an adult, this dog will need significant structure and plenty of daily exercise, training, and mental stimulation – 90 consecutive minutes of movement in the morning plus potty break walks and brain games throughout the day. The adopter must have relevant primary care experience with a similar breed, temperament, and/or energy level. (Primary care experience includes ownership, fostering, or dog sitting as an adult, not a dog you grew up with.) Relevant puppy care experience is a huge plus, but bare minimum the adopter must have TONS of time and patience. Raising a puppy can be a lot of fun, but it’s also  tremendous work. Puppies’ personalities and exercise/stimulation requirements change dramatically between now and when they’re a year old as their bodies and brains develop, so an active lifestyle and the ability to adapt to a pup’s evolving needs are a must. We strongly urge professional dog training with a rewards based trainer from the get go. Adults only or kids ages 8 and up – all puppies go through a mouthy, rambunctious phase and often accidentally hurt children when playing. PLEASE DO YOUR OWN BREED RESEARCH to make sure you have a better understanding of the kind of temperament and exercise requirements this dog may have as an adult. Energy levelMEDIUM: Very young puppies sleep and nap a lot, but their energy level skyrockets when they become teens (4 months to around a year). As an adult, this dog will need significant structure and plenty of daily exercise, training, and mental stimulation – 90 consecutive minutes of movement in the morning plus potty break walks and brain games throughout the day at a minimum. (This is regardless of dog size – many small breeds were designed for lots of activity and will exhibit unwanted behavior when they’re understimulated.)  Potty trained?Working on this skill. Puppies under 12 weeks old are often on track with their wee pad skills, but they’re too young to walk outside in public NYC areas yet because they haven’t finished their puppy vaccine series. Puppies older than 12 weeks are usually learning to do their business outside. Potty training takes a lot of patience, consistency, and clean up.  Crate trained?Nope. None of our new puppies have been formally trained, but many of our foster parents/adopters choose to crate train. It can be a great way to keep puppies safe and teach them independence. Social with dogs?Yes. Some puppies are shy, others are bold, but all have the potential to be taught healthy socializing skills. It’s a huge part of raising a puppy and must be done carefully. How they interact with other dogs depends largely on how their humans help them learn to.  Social with children?  (ALWAYS requires adult supervision)Yes… but most puppies are not a great match for a home with kids under age 8 because they go through intense mouthy play and rambunctious phases and often accidentally hurt young kids while playing. Children must always be monitored and taught to interact with dogs of any age respectfully.   Social with cats?Yes. Almost all puppies have the potential to be friends with a cat. It’s on the adopter to know their cat’s temperament and preferences and to teach their puppy respectful manners.  Mouthy play: High! All puppies go through phases where they chew your stuff and grab your hands, arms, feet… puppies naturally explore the world, play, and test boundaries with their mouths. (It also happens when they’re teething.) Their teeth are super sharp though, so it can be a very painful phase for humans and other animals in the home. Proper training, outlets, and socialization are key. Leash manners:None. :) Will need to learn this skill.   Separation anxiety:MEDIUM: Most puppies have some level of separation anxiety as they learn to self soothe. Often they cry the first 10+ minutes when they are left home alone or in a crate. Consistent training and alone time is crucial. Medical status:Healthy as far as we know. Up to date on their DHPP and Bordetella vaccines (for dogs under 4 months old, adopters will need to finish the DHPP vaccine series and administer the Rabies vaccine at 16 weeks of age), spayed/neutered; microchipped; treated with dewormer upon How this dog ended up with Social Tees:Most of our dogs come via partner groups who help us save them from shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia in Tennessee or St. Thomas. There are very few spay/neuter resources there and many more animals in those areas than there are people to adopt them. Rescue groups like ours bring them to the northeast where the desire for pets like these allows us to save their lives.  PLEASE NOTE: We cannot guarantee any breed mix, exact age, or full grown size (if the dog is under a year old). We do our best with very educated guesses though!  This animal is not at the Social Tees office, all are in foster homes. Story
SEE VIDEO OF BENNYBenny- 60 lb, 12  months old, black with white paws, lab mix  Handsome Benny may look full grown but he's still just a playful, energetic puppy! Born This boy loves to play and wrestle with other dogs, he requires a fenced in yard where the fence is at least 5 ft high so he can run and explore. He needs a doggie playmate.  He's agile enough to jump a fence should he want to, even though he has not tried at his foster home. He knows commands like come, sit and paw. Benny is a quiet, very friendly pup and great with people. He looks forward to cuddling up on the couch with his family. We think he would do very well in a two dog household as he does get lonely and bored when left alone. Exercise is a must for this boy so an active family would be great for him. He is fully potty trained.    PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comApril 1, 2025, 12:43 am

Story
Santa Paws (Chief) is a sweet, happy, playful 10 month old lab mix. He was somehow adopted by an older couple looking for a "plug and play" addition to the family. But like any normal puppy, he needs a little training. He is good on housetraining, but he likes to jump up on people and the owner didn't want her clothes getting dirty. Yes we get dogs surrendered and abandoned for all kinds of reasons that make us scratch our heads. Santa Paws is currently with a trainer that will help with that so this sweet boy can be on good behavior for his new family. He is neutered, HW negative and UTD on all required vaccines. Santa paws has a significant scar across his face that was from some sort of puppy injury. We just want this sweet pup to have a safe, loving home where he will be cherished. He would be a great addition to a young, relatively active family. If you would like to be Santa Paws' hero this Christmas, please email omlc7@hotmail.com or dogs4mylife@gmail.com. and we will send our info and app. If you do not see a response, please check your spam folder.
