Story
Young Rudy, born Feb 2024 was found one morning as a very young puppy buried in dirt near the shelter. He was taken into the SPCA PV sanctuary, and they learned that he was buried to soothe burns on his back where his hair is now discoloured. He currently weighs approximately 40 lbs, we think he’ll grow to be about 50 lbs. He was lucky that one of our sweet mamma pups Keisha took him under her wing to give him the love he should still get as a young pup. He’s a playful boy that would love a yard and adventures, and maybe even a welcoming dog friend. He has been good with cats (though exposure is limited). Rudy is healthy and ready to fly. He is currently at the SPCA PV sanctuary in Mexico, and will be able to fly to Vancouver, Calgary or Edmonton (possibly also Vancouver island). If you think you might be the lucky home for him, write us at pvcaadoptions@gmail.com and tell us a little about yourself, or go direct to our application: https://forms.office.com/r/b1Fkq3u4zw

Story
Fran and her siblings are alive because a kind woman would go feed their pregnant mama who was living outside near a riverbank, shortly after being born there, mum and pups were taken to safety into the SPCA PV sanctuary. Now its time for them to find real families to love them. Fran is stunning with her sleek black coat and white toes in a squirmy puppy body. Fran was born with extra toes in her back legs, a condition that is not harmful (in fact some snow breeds were bred with them, so perhaps he was meant for a life in Canada!) Fran is healthy, vaccinated and ready to travel to her new home with flights available to Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, and less frequently to Vancouver island. We think Fran will grow to be about 55 lbs. Fran has been exposed to cat and is playful with dogs. Story
8 year old Yesenia is a lab x boxer looking for a home. Yesenia was surviving when kind strangers might feed her, but had to be a strong resilient girl. They suspect she may have been used for breeding and was subjected to having her tail docked. When they no longer wanted her they just left her to fend for herself. Yesenia reads people well and likes to be comforted by them. Yesenia prefers male dogs and isn’t a fan of cats. She is spayed and vaccinated, weighing a perfect 45 lbs. If you think you might be Yesenia’s second chance, she’d love to hear from you by emailing us at pvcaadoptions@gmail.com or going direct to our application: https://forms.office.com/r/b1Fkq3u4zw. Story
Rudy is an incredible dog - loved by all who meet him. He was found as very young puppy near the SPCA PV sanctuary in Puerto Vallarta burrowed in dirt. After he was taken into the shelter they would hear him crying in pain, which they realized was from burns on his back (which was probably why he was burrowed in dirt). Despite that tough start in life, Rudy has an incredible temperament and a joyful disposition. Rudy is in foster care in Pitt Meadows. He loves dogs and has enjoyed having another dog in the home and playing with other dogs he meets. Rudy is also good with cats. When he was at the shelter he'd visit the cats and his whole body would wiggle in excitement. Rudy is good with people. He loves a good game of chase with this dog friends, has enjoyed hiking in the woods, playing at the beach. In the home he just loves to cuddle. While not showing high prey drive when out, living with 2 parrots in a giant cage are far too much a curiousity for him. Rudy is house trained, super smart, with basic commands under his belt. This guy is a real gem of a dog. He is healthy (though has some scarring on his back from the burns he sustained very young). He is neutered and vaccinated and a great size at 35 lbs (big enough to adventure, but also small enough to pick up in an emergency). He would probably love another animal in the home (though birds no thank you), humans to cuddle with, and he'll be up for adventures. He is living in a home with a yard. Story
Hola! My name is ROBBIE (they call be "Rabito" in Mexico, which means "Little Tail") and here is some info about me: PHYSICAL INFO: Breed: Lab mix Age: 2+ years Gender: male Weight: 49 lbs (22.5 kg) Length (nose to butt): 82cm Height (paws to top of head): 74.5cm Current Location: MEXICO CITY RESCUE STORY - I was born on the streets of Mexico and was found severely malnourished, along with my two sisters (Mimosa and Carla) when we were only one month old. Living on the streets was so scary and we were so happy to have been rescued! You can learn more about my heartbreaking rescue by watching this video. I required extensive vet care after I was rescued. As you can see, I'm quite the little fighter to have survived all I went through!  TEMPERAMENT - I am told that I am a lovely, friendly and sweet doggo! I love to get affection from my humans and to play with my siblings and other dogs I meet. My foster mum has been working with me on my leash skills and I am really improving! I am calm and well-mannered when out for walks. Here I am - so happy and sweet! ENERGY LEVEL - Medium energy. I have matured and am out of my hyper-puppy phase, but still have energy to play with you! GETS ALONG WITH:  Kids – Yes. I have met with kids on walks and am happy to receive pets! Dogs –  I get along well with the other dogs at my foster. Check out my videos to see! I would do best in a home with another friendly dog playmate to help me build my confidence! Cats – Unknown PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I’m not too sure how I’ll react around cats/squirrels/rabbits etc., so my adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise. TRAINING: Leash skills – Good. I have been working with my foster on leash skills and am calm and well mannered in walks. I currently live in a suburban environment and so don't have much exposure to busy urban settings. A well-fitted harness and some dedicated leash training will help me to continue my success! Here I am going for a walk! House training – Work in progress. Frequent potty breaks and positive reinforcement will help me learn housetraining in my new home :) Please Note: WCP highly encourages adopters to do some research and training on their own before their dog arrives.  HEALTH NOTES: When I was first rescued, I was severely malnourished and had parasites. My tail had been cut off on the streets. I had wounds and incredibly swollen glands. My chance of survival was low, however my foster family made sure I got all the care I needed. Although my progress was slow, I got stronger and stronger every day and somehow, I survived! I am a healthy boy now, don't worry.  I am neutered and have received all of my puppy vaccinations! I will come to Canada with proof of all my vaccines and test records. I will be tested for Heartworm etc. before flying North. NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter. ADOPTION FEE: My adoption fee is $840.00 including taxes (5% GST, 7% PST), which includes my airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver. ------------------------------------- DISCLAIMER: Please visit wcpdogrescue.com to read about West Coast Paws Dog Rescue and its adoption process. WCP does not have in-person access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions, although we ask for video proof of a dog's attributes wherever possible. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person(s) adopting them and the environment in which they live.  WCP is unable to guarantee the accuracy of a dogs age and/or breed. Hiya! My name is MIMOSA and here is some info about me: PHYSICAL INFO: Breed: Lab mix Age: Approx. 2 years Gender: Female Weight: 51 lbs (23 kg) I may grow a bit more! Length (nose to butt): 76 cm Height (paws to top of head): 66 cm Current Location: Mexico City RESCUE STORY - My siblings and I were rescued off the streets of Mexico around one month old, my Rescuer thinks we were born there! What scary place for us wee pups! We were found with severe malnutrition and anemia, in pretty sad shape. You can learn more about my heartbreaking rescue by watching this video. I’m so thankful we were rescued and transported to the doggy shelter, where we’re now safe and in tip-top shape! TEMPERAMENT - Like most puppies, I have lots of energy and just LOVE to play especially with my siblings (Carla and Robbie)! I adore affection from hoomans and can’t wait for all the belly rubs and snuggles from a family of my very own! I am looking for a patient, loving family who is ready for “all things puppy”! Hoomans who are open to working with timidity, potential play nipping, high energy, house training and leash skills. I promise to repay you with loads of cuddles, kisses (of course!), and tail wags! ENERGY LEVEL - Medium/High - While I'm getting a little older, I am still in my puppy years and have the energy and curiosity that comes with a pup! Being the silly girl that I am, I've been known to rip up cloth rope toys and sometimes blankets. I'm learning better manners with my foster, but nonetheless, my adopter will need to be patient with me when adding more structure into my day-to-day life! I love to play with my fellow pups and hoomans, and also looove to cuddle, show and receive affection (check out these videos: video, video2). I'm looking for a forever family, to play with and love on, of my very own!  GETS ALONG WITH: Kids – Yes, I do well playing with kiddos. Here's are videos of me greeting children: video, video2, video3, video4 Dogs –  Yes, I love my puppy family! Check us out in this video! Here's a video of me being a good girl around both hoomans and doggos, and here are videos of me playing at the dog park! Video, video2, video3, video4 Cats – Unknown. No exposure to cats just yet! And one more of me greeting a dog on a leash!  House trained – Work in progress. Story
Hi frenz! My name is JACKSON (they call be "Juven" down here in Mexico) and here is some info about me: PHYSICAL INFO: Breed: Black Lab/Shepherd mix Age: 1.5 years Gender: Male Weight: 45 lbs (20 kg)  Length (nose to butt): 86 cm Height (paws to top of head): 71 cm Height (floor to shoulders): 55 cm Neck Circumference: 42 cm Chest Circumference: 63 cm Current Location: MEXICO CITY RESCUE STORY - I was born in La Marquesa, a mountain near Mexico City. Although I had a field to run in, it was a dangerous place for a puppy like me. I don't know what happened to my mother, one day she went to look for food and didn't come back. I used to sleep in under the trees, it was really cold and getting food wasn't easy, sometimes some people would give me some of their quesadillas, so I had to make my own luck to survive. Last year I saw a family in the distance that came to La Marquesa with some other dogs, I was a brave boy and decided to approach them. The people were really nice to their dogs, they seemed happy. I started to play with their dogs and followed them all along the path through the mountains. Here are some videos of that day on the mountain (video 1, video 2, video 3). It started to get dark and I noticed we were heading back. Everyone started getting into their cars and I though "but what about me?" The kind people began to call me in a friendly way and then one of them put me in the car with the other dogs. I didn't know where I was going, but I felt happy. Soon, I arrived at a house where I have lived ever since! I went to the vet to get a check up and was the bestest boy (video). I now live in my foster home with lots of doggy friends. I am no longer cold and never have to skip a meal. I feel sooo lucky to have been rescued! TEMPERAMENT - I am told that I am a lovely, friendly and sweet boy! I love to get affection from my humans (check out my video!) and am such a tolerant boy when being handled by people I trust. I can sometimes be a bit shy with new people, but I warm up quickly once I know you won't hurt me. I am such a good boy at my foster home. I get along with all my doggy foster siblings, we even eat together. I love walking with my humans and doggy friends (video). I loveeee going on sniffari's (video). Although I am still a puppy, my foster parents say I am a very well behaved boy. I like meeting new friends, playing with toys, and receiving all the love I deserve! I also loveeee ice cream, hehe (video) ENERGY LEVEL - Medium energy. Your typical young lab mix energy - I play hard but I crash hard too!  GETS ALONG WITH:  Kids – Unknown. I am a young and energetic dog, as such, a home without young kids might be best for me (I'd hate to knock a kiddo over!) Dogs –  I get along well with the all the other doggies at my foster home. Check out my videos to see! I go to the dog park here too and I love to run around with the other dogs (video). I would likely do well in a home with another friendly dog playmate to help me build my confidence! Cats – Unknown PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I’m not too sure how I’ll react around cats/squirrels/rabbits etc., so my adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise. TRAINING: Leash skills – Work in progress (but not too bad!). Here are some videos of me on leash so you can see for yourself (video 1, video 2, video 3, video 4). I practice walking past other dogs on the street neutrally (video). I am still young and I will need an adopter who is happy to work with me on my leash manners. I currently live in a suburban environment and so don't have much exposure to busy urban settings. A well-fitted harness and some dedicated leash training will help set me up for success!  House training – Work in progress. Story
Ahoy there! My name is JACK (like Jack Sparrow, hehe, 'cuz down here in Mexico they call me Pirate) and here is some info about me: PHYSICAL INFO: Breed: Lab/Pittie Mix Age: approx. 6 Years Gender: Male Weight: 60 lbs (27 kg)  Height: 30 inches (from paws to the top of my head)  Current Location: MEXICO CITY RESCUE STORY - I was found tied up to a lamp post next to the local dog shelter here in Mexico City two years ago. I was in relatively good condition and had pretty good manners, so my rescuers think that maybe I had an owner in the past. Luckily, the owner of the dog shelter welcomed me in and has given me a safe place to live ever since. I know I'm so lucky to have been rescued, but I have been living in the shelter for two years now and I am SO ready to find a real home! TEMPERAMENT - I am a friendly boy who gets along with allll the humans. I LOVE getting attention and cuddles and I am just such a good boy. I often meet children and we get along just fine (although I'm a big dogg-o, so small kids might be at risk for getting knocked over unintentionally!). I am playful with other dogs and truly don't have an aggressive bone in my (big) body. I sometimes bark and may get jealous if another dog gets attention near me, but it's just because I'm so eager for love and affection. I love to go for walks and boy do I ever love playing at the dog park! I am a receptive boy who understands when I have done something wrong. I obey commands and am so eager to please; I'm also one of the favourites of the volunteers here at the shelter hehe (don't tell the others!). I do have some leash reactivity towards other dogs-- I will sometimes bark at other dogs as we walk past. I think I can work through this behaviour with a patient adopter dedicated to working on my leash manners :) Truly, all I want is to have a human to love and who loves me in return! Oh ya... I also love tortillas, apples, and carrots.  ENERGY LEVEL - Medium - I play hard but I crash hard too. Once I've had sufficient daily exercise, I am a pretty chill guy who is eager for affection and love. I am made for adventuring and I'm sure I would LOVE an active family who takes me on lots of walkies and hikes.  GETS ALONG WITH: Kids – Unknown. I am a gentle, albeit sometimes exuberant, boy. I don't have an aggressive bone in my body, however I'd probably do best in a home without young children as I can be a bit "bouncy" and would hate to knock over a li'l human.  Dogs – I'm good at wrestling and playing with other dogs. I'm sure I'd love the dog park for some good wrestle sessions with fellow furry friends. Here is a video of me having a play session with my shelter siblings. NOTE: I get along great with dogs I'm familiar with, but full disclosure, I do occasionally try to mount dogs who I haven't met before. I am never aggressive, this is just my poorly mannered way of saying hello to new dogs!   Cats – Unknown. I haven't been cat tested. PREY DRIVE - I am fine with small dogs however I haven't been tested with cats. I’m not too sure how I’ll react around squirrels/rabbits etc. My adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise. TRAINING: Leash skills – Pretty good! I am a pretty good boy on leash however I can be excitable and will literally follow my nose anywhere! I also can be a bit reactive when walking past other dogs (my rescuer says I will bark at other dogs). I will need a patient adopter who is willing to help me continue learn leash manners in my new home (a harness and some treats will likely help!). Here are a fe videos of me walking on leash (video1 , video 2, video 3). Not too shabby, eh?  House trained – Work in progress! Please be patient with me and help me continue to learn in my forever home. Frequent potty breaks and positive reinforcement will help me learn :) I'm one smart cookie so I'm sure I'll learn real quick! Please Note: WCP highly encourages adopters to do some research and training on their own before their dog arrives.  HEALTH NOTES: I am neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. I will come to Canada with proof of all my vaccines and test records. I will be tested for Heartworm etc. before flying North. ADOPTION FEE: My adoption fee is $728.00 CAD ($650.00 CAD + GST and PST), which includes my airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver. ------------------------------------- DISCLAIMER: Please visit wcpdogrescue.com to read about West Coast Paws Dog Rescue and it's adoption process. Meet Frankie! ❤️🐾 Frankie is a lovable, energetic sweetheart who adores people and plays great with other dogs! His playful spirit and big heart make him the perfect companion for an active home filled with love, fun, and adventure. ❤Name: Frankie ❤Age: Estimated 2-3 years old ❤Gender: Male ❤Weight: 30kg (65 Lbs) ❤Breed: Golden Retriever ❤Vaccinations/Neutered: Completed 👉Personality & Temperament Frankie is an affectionate and social dog who absolutely loves people. He enjoys playing with both adults and children, but due to his high energy level and tendency to playfully mouth hands and arms, he may not be suitable for very young children who could find him overwhelming. 👉Behavior with Other Animals 🦴Dogs: Frankie gets along great with other dogs and loves to play! He can be a bit rough when playing with larger dogs but is very gentle and adjusts his play style when interacting with small dogs. 🦴Cats: He has not been exposed to cats, but based on his personality, he is likely to approach them fearlessly and try to initiate play rather than avoiding them. 👉House Training Frankie is partially house-trained. He is used to relieving himself indoors but tends to only go in specific areas. If provided with pee pads in those spots, he will use them. He previously lived in a foster home where he preferred indoor potty breaks, likely due to limited early exposure to outdoor walks. However, his habits may have changed now that he is staying at a shelter. 👉Energy Level: 9-10 (High Energy) 👉Separation Anxiety & Barking 🦴No separation anxiety 🦴Vocal when he wants attention or playtime—he may bark at people or other dogs to express his excitement or needs. 👉Touch Sensitivity Frankie loves being petted and handled—he craves human touch and has no fear of hands. 👉Walking & Leash Behavior 🦴Strong leash pulling, especially when excited. 🦴Easily distracted and eager to approach people and dogs he encounters. 🦴Knows basic commands like "sit" and "wait" but struggles to respond in high-energy outdoor environments. 👉Escape Behavior No known escape tendencies; he does not attempt to run away from home or during walks.

Story
Currently in a Toronto foster home! Hello! My name is Hoya, and I’m a 4-year-old female Golden Retriever-Jindo mix, weighing 27 kg (59 lbs). With my large, sturdy frame and calm, friendly nature, I’m a truly special companion. Rescued from a shelter in Korea just before being euthanized, I’ve been given a second chance at life and can’t wait to share it with my forever family. I’m a quiet dog who rarely barks, and I’m incredibly friendly with people—even strangers. I trust humans completely and am happy to let them pet me. While I get along with other dogs, I tend to prefer spending time alone or enjoying one-on-one attention with my humans. I’m non-aggressive and absolutely adore showing affection—it’s in my nature to love and be loved. I’m well-trained and know commands like “sit,” “wait,” and “house,” which I follow with ease. On walks, I’m the perfect gentleman: I stay calm, walk steadily beside my human, and don’t pull on the leash. I enjoy exploring the world at my own pace, sniffing around with curiosity, but loud noises or sudden movements don’t faze me. I love treats and am cooperative with grooming activities like baths and brushing. My greatest joy comes from being close to people and feeling their love and care. My gentle personality and warm heart make me a wonderful addition to any home. Are you ready to welcome a loyal, sweet, and affectionate dog into your life? I’m Hoya, and I can’t wait to meet you and brighten your days with my love!

Story
Meet Margaret, a 1-year-old spayed female with a heart as golden as her fur! This sweet girl is a delightful mix of Golden Retriever and Welsh Corgi, with the gentle, expressive face of a Retriever and the charming, compact body of a Corgi. Weighing in at 16kg, she’s the perfect mid-sized companion for just about any home. Margaret’s journey hasn’t been easy—she was found alone in a deserted field where she was sadly being raised for meat consumption. Thankfully, a kind-hearted local stepped in and got her the help she needed. Despite her past, Margaret is full of love and trust, eager to share her affection with the world. She’s a social butterfly who adores people, whether familiar or new. Margaret loves to nuzzle up to everyone she meets, happily accepting pets and belly rubs—even offering up her belly to strangers with zero hesitation. She’s just as friendly with men as she is with women, and although she hasn’t spent time with children under 13, her sweet, affectionate nature suggests she’d do great with kids. You can even scoop her up by placing your arms under her belly—though fair warning, she may flop over in anticipation of being picked up! Margaret’s friendliness extends to her fellow canines too. She joyfully greets other dogs, whether they’re old pals or brand-new acquaintances, and invites them to play with her cheerful energy. She’s so popular that some dogs can’t help but follow her around, but Margaret never minds. Even if a dog pesters her or tries to stir trouble, she simply walks away—no drama here! She especially enjoys the company of dogs similar in size to her and has a knack for making friends wherever she goes. As for cats, Margaret hasn’t lived with one yet, but she’s gentle and non-aggressive, so a feline sibling could be a possibility with proper introductions. Margaret has a moderate energy level—she enjoys outdoor adventures but knows how to relax once she’s had her fun. She absolutely loves going on walks and gets a little excited at first, which might mean some light pulling, but overall, she follows her human well and is a joy to stroll with. This lovely girl doesn’t guard her food from people or other dogs, has no separation anxiety, and rarely barks. She’s calm in a kennel, does her business outside, and is ready to bring joy, laughter, and lots of cuddles to her forever home.
