Story
Runners, Joggers, Hikers and outdoor enthusiasts; Are you looking for an active boy to keep you exploring? This lovable lab is looking to find a home that has lots of time for exercise and adventures. He was not often walked on a leash and is learning leash manners that his new guardian will need to continue working on. He does have a strong pull, but with proper equipment (harness), we are currently working on "Focus" and "Wait", which he is responding to very well. Food and balls are the keys to his heart. He is young, highly food motivated and eager to learn. Loki would prefer a home with a nice big yard where he can run and play. He LOVES to fetch and is doing really well learning basic commands (sit, stay etc). If Loki could speak, his favorite word would be "BALL". He is absolutely fetch obsessed, is great with retrieving and releasing and would chase after that thing all day if he was allowed to.Loki has really blossomed in shelter and loves to be with people. He can be a bit shy at first, but with a little praise and toys, this boy will be your instant best friend. He is very affectionate and enjoys full body pets. He listens well, and won't jump on the couch even when asked. He is very polite in a home setting, and although very food motivated, has shown great restraint when food has been on the counter and nobody is watching! He is a typical excitable lab and can be chatty when left alone, so an apartment style living wouldn't be ideal for him. Loki would be okay with older children (12+) and would be best as the only dog in the home. Loki used to live with cats and would be okay with cats provided safe introductions are done. Do you think you could be Loki's person? Here are some ways to find out: 1.) Visit our centre to meet this pet during adoption viewings Friday to Wednesday noon to 3pm, learn more about their ideal match, and apply to adopt in person; or 2.) Submit an online application adopt.spca.bc.ca and staff will contact the first suitable adopter to set-up a visit! Kindly note that due to the high number of applications and the availability of walk-in adoptions an online applicant would have to be available to come in for a meet within 24 hrs. Story
Hello, my name is Taesik! Here is a little info about me: Breed: Labrador/Pointer mixAge: 8 months (born Jan 2024)Gender: male    Weight: 50 lbHighlight(s): Calm, Friendly I may be young, but I have already been through quite an adventure in my short life. I was born on January 15, 2024, to a mom who was tied up outside next to busy roads during the cold winter. Thankfully, kind people noticed our situation and brought my mom to a shelter to safely deliver me and my siblings. I am still growing and developing, with the potential to be even bigger than my 21kg mom. I didn't have much time with my mom before we were separated, but I learned some valuable social skills from her. She is a people dog, and I like to think I inherited her friendly personality. I am eager to learn and explore the world around me, from meeting new people to going on car rides and walks on a leash. I recently had my first encounter with a kind person who gave me treats and pets. I may have been shy at first, but I am learning to trust and enjoy human companionship. I get along well with other dogs at the shelter, but I have yet to meet a cat. While I am still a bit unsure and nervous on walks, I am working on building my confidence and wagging my tail more often. I have not shown any signs of aggression and am open to new experiences and challenges. I may growl when eating and other dogs approach, but I am working on my manners. While I am not yet fully house trained, I am eager to learn and improve with the help of a patient and loving family. I am excited for the opportunity to find my forever home and continue to grow, learn, and explore the world with my new family by my side. Will you be the one to give me a chance at a happy and fulfilling life? I get along with:Dogs: YesCats: Unsure (though likely per encounter he is probably ok with cats) Kids:Unsure Health notes: I have been neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped No aggressive behaviours or resource gaurding noted. My adoption fee is $800.00 CAD plus applicable taxes. This includes my transportation to Canada, if I am able to be accompanied by a flight volunteer directly to Vancouver. Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems. ##2122916##

Story
Hi friends! My name is Baloo (yup! I'm a cuddly bear) and here's more about me:  PHYSICAL INFO: Breed: Labrador/staffordshire mix Age: Approx. 4 - 5 years old Gender: Male Weight: 45lbs (20 kg)  Current Location: Guadalajara Mexico RESCUE STORY - I was left in a busy part of town by my family...I was very confused because they left me alone as they all got into their car and drove away! I thought maybe they forgot me by accident so I chased after them. They were driving on a busy road and I was dodging cars to try to get to them before they disappeared! A very nice family saw me running in the traffic and got very worried for my safety. They asked my family to pull over and that's when we learned that they didn't want me any more...so I was put in the car with these other nice humans (my now rescuers, the people who saw me on the street!). Despite previously having a 'family', it seems I never really lived in a home before. My rescuer doesn't think I was taken care of very well and I have now been living in a boarding facility for 1.5 years. I'm ready to find my furever family and be in a cozy home!! Please note that because of my previous living conditions, I have some scars on my skin and my front right paw is crooked. It doesn't bother me at all though! I think I broke my leg when I was a puppy and it grew out not so pawfect.  TEMPERAMENT - I'm very calm, noble, and a sweet and loving doggo. Being loving means that I enjoy receiving and giving lotssss of love (aka hugs and cuddles) and care. My favourite thing ever is my walks and being with hoomans. I enjoy being with other calm doggoss, although I'm very social and I will play with young and active dogs too (I'm not too picky)! I am usually quiet at the shelter but sometimes strange noises at night might startle me and I bark to alert the hoomans. I haven't had the chance to live in a home yet, but I bet I would make a great cuddle-buddy couch potato! ENERGY LEVEL - Moderate. I'm calm but I love my walks and I do get excited for treats, especially sausages!  GETS ALONG WITH: Kids – Yes! I have been tested with older kids. An 8 year old boy at the shelter takes me walking all the time and he's my pal.  Dogs – Yes! I get along well with other pups and currently live with many other doggos at the shelter. I sleep beside my friend Rocco every night.  Cats – Unknown but can be tested upon request. PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I’m not too sure how I’ll react around squirrels/rabbits etc. My adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise. TRAINING: Leash skills – I do great with my leash skills and am very used to going on leashed adventures. However, I may need some additional training and patience once I get to my new home.  House trained – My rescuer says I am okay with this and know to go on my walks or in the garden outside. However, I may need some additional training and patience once I get to my new home.  Crate trained – My rescuer says I am good in my crate. However, I may need some additional training and patience once I get to my new home.  Car rides – My rescuer says I get nervous but do stay seated. I feel calmer if the windows are closed and it's not too noiisy. I may need some additional training and patience.  Please Note: WCP highly encourages adopters to do some research and training on their own before their dog arrives.  HEALTH NOTES:  I am neutered and vaccinated. NOTE: dogs from Guadalajara are not microchipped. NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter. ADOPTION FEE: My adoption fee is $728.00 CAD including tax (5% GST, 7% PST), which includes my airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver. ------------------------------------- DISCLAIMER: Please visit wcpdogrescue.com to read about West Coast Paws Dog Rescue and it's adoption process. The info included in each WCP bio is provided to us from the international rescuer. WCP does not have in-person access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions, although we ask for video proof of a dog's attributes wherever possible. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person(s) adopting them and the environment in which they live.  WCP is unable to guarantee the accuracy of a dogs age and/or breed. Meet Maya!Maya is a sweet and energetic girl looking for her forever home. She came into our care after her previous owners could no longer care for her and is now ready to start a new chapter with a family who will include her in all their adventures. Maya thrives on companionship and will need adopters who can be with her most of the day, as she experiences separation anxiety. She can be jumpy when she's excited, so adopters who can handle her enthusiasm would be the best match. This playful pup loves staying active and is happiest when tagging along for any activities. She especially enjoys playing with a frisbee and would make a fantastic adventure buddy for a family that can match her energy and love for fun. If you're looking for a loyal companion to share your life with, Maya might be the perfect match! 💖🐾Do you think you could be Maya's person? Here's how to meet her:1.) Story
Miss Ida was recently surrendered to us, due to no fault of her own. She is an active girl, who could chase her ball all day long! A home that could provide her with lots of fetch time, would be ideal for her. Although Ida is coming into her senior years, she is still a very active girl, who has a need for speed. She absolutely loves her walks and, once bonded with her person, stays close during off-leash adventures. One of her favorite summer activities is definitely swimming, with her ball of course!Ida has lived with both cats and children, and enjoys her playdates with other dogs, especially her fellow lab friends! She has mastered her basic obedience skills and is a very good, easy girl, however she gets quite anxious in a vehicle and may be best-suited for a home that doesn't plan to travel with her often. If you would like to welcome Miss Ida into your home, please submit an application to the Shuswap branch through the link below!https://spca.bc.ca/adoption/dog-pre-adoption-questionnaire/ Primary Color: Chocolate Weight: 34.8 Age: 7yrs 0mths 3wks
