MEET SKY Sky is a female Labrador Retriever mix. She approximately 14 months old and weighs around 50 pounds. Sky is extremely loving and enjoys love and affection from her human companion. She is active but also loves to chill wherever you are. Sky is great on car rides and claims shotgun whenever the opportunity arises. Sky’s ideal person is someone who is patient and kind. She is very friendly however she does not seem to recognize that small humans or small dogs do not match her size and strength. We feel Sky will be best suited for a home with adults only or adults with older teenage children. We feel Sky will do best in a one dog only home or with another friendly dog that is equally as large as she is. If Sky seems like she could be the pup for you please contact her foster. Meet Venus, a 9-year-old Labrador mix named after the goddess of love and beauty.  Venus’s journey hasn’t been easy, but her resilience and sweetness shine through every day. Originally, Venus went to the vet for boarding while her owner refinished their floors. Sadly, her owners decided they preferred a fur-free home and chose not to take her back, leaving Venus to spend an entire month at the vet. But fate had better plans for this lovely girl. A compassionate Good Samaritan at the vet sponsored her, ensuring she had the care she needed until our rescue organization discovered her. Now, Venus is blossoming in a loving foster home, where she enjoys the comfort of soft couches, cozy dog beds, and a spacious yard. She walks well on a leash. As a houseguest, she is polite and well-behaved and loves to lounge on couches.  Venus will protect you from your gardeners and mail-carriers with a strong bark ;-) Venus is slowly learning to trust people again, and her progress is heartwarming. She needs a patient and loving forever home that can offer her the stability and affection she craves. With the right family,Venus will thrive. Are you ready to open your heart and home to Venus? If this goddess of love and beauty is the right girl for you please complete an adoption application at roversretreat.org Questions can be sent to Danelle@roversretreat.org Venus's adoption fee is $400

Story
Hi there! I'm Sky Jo, but my foster parents call me Sky, and when I hear my name, I come to you right away! I am an 8 year old Labrador Mix and weigh about 80 lbs. Sadly, I found myself in a shelter in 110 degree heat, for over a month...extremely underweight with a horrible ear infection that ruptured my eardrums and made me sick. Thankfully, I was a shelter employee favorite and they called SCLRR who came for me and saved my life! My foster mom says I'm a gentle, easy going old soul, who is happy enough just being home and spending time with my people. Whether you're outside cleaning the patio, gardening, tending the chickens, or watering the ponies...I'll be there. I am excellent on the leash and enjoy going for walks. I am calm and have good manners inside the home as well. I don't mess with anything or chew up things and I can be left alone for hours with no drama. I do like to come over for pets, and when you're done, I will go lay down on my bed... always closest to you. I currently share a home with 5 other dogs and a cat, as well as some farm animals. Other than the cat (who I chase!), I mostly mind my business, but would be most happy being an only dog, or maybe one other mellow dog friend. You may have noticed my tail - or lack thereof. This is how I have always been and it doesn't bother me. I am hoping it won't bother you either. I think it makes me look unique! I'm looking for a home with no small children, as I am 80+ lbs. and could accidentally knock them down. Because I am a little older girl, I am on supplements and medication for arthritis and I should stay on them for the rest of my life. I just want to be warm in the winter and cool in the summer and hang with my people...maybe have a splashy pool to play in (it's my Labrador blood!). If I sound like the girl for you, please reach out to your Family Rep. Thank you for listening and I will be patently waiting until you find me. If you are interested in making this Lab part of your family, please contact your SCLRR family representative. If you have not yet applied with us, please submit an online application to adopt; an SCLRR volunteer will then contact you. Please note that your homecheck must be approved in order for you to be put in touch with the dog's foster home.

Story
Hey There! My name is Zeppy! I am a sweet and loving 7 year old and a big boy at about 88 lbs.! I have to say I have a bit of a colorful past and when my Dad passed away recently, I found myself without a home. Fortunately his family reached out to SCLRR and here I am! I love to go on walks and my foster mom says I am good on the leash and don't pull at all! I get along with my foster brothers, but they don't love me so much. When they bark at me I am passive and just walk away. It makes me kind of sad. I would really like to be their buddy. I would love to have some friends. I like to play and run in the backyard and chase tennis balls, but my absolute favorite thing in the world is playing Tug of War! I will play all day, everyday! My foster mom says I am pretty mouthy and forget my manners sometimes. I am working on that. I also forget how big I am and don't know my own strength. I tend to want to be the first one out the door and will knock my smaller foster brothers out of the way. So, it would be best if my new family doesn't have anyone younger than 10. I am told I do have a couple weaknesses. Don't we all? I am a professional counter surfer! I think I am pretty amazing at it, but my foster mom isn't amused or impressed. I help unload the groceries while she is getting the rest out of the car. Sometimes I am so good at it, she doesn't even realize something is missing until she finds the empty wrapper! Like I said, I am a professional! All in all, I am just your typical Labrador! I am a medium energy boy and am told I am a young 7 year old. I can been left in the house alone and have only had 2 accidents. I will tell you when I need to go out. I am a love bug with a tail that never stops wagging. I like to be near you and will follow you everywhere in the house. I have a rich, dark black coat of fur that will just envelope your hands when you pet me. And I love that! I am a diamond in the rough who just needs a little polish. I would just love to become a member of a family who will love me forever. I guarantee I will brighten your life! My foster mom says I have already done that for her and it has only been a few short weeks! If you are my family, please reach out to your foster rep. I will be waiting for you to come play tug of war with me! If you are interested in making this Lab part of your family, please contact your SCLRR family representative. If you have not yet applied with us, please submit an online application to adopt; an SCLRR volunteer will then contact you. Please note that your homecheck must be approved in order for you to be put in touch with the dog's foster home.

Story
FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME NEEDED! Malcolm is a sweet and mellow 2-year-old Lab mix. He's very well socialized, so we think he was kept in somebody's backyard before he was found scavenging for scraps on the street. Neighbors say he had been living for weeks in the area, drinking from the gutter to survive. Malcolm is so friendly, he came right up to us and asked to be saved. We searched for an owner, but without a collar or chip, we didn't have any luck. Now, Malcolm is getting used to living in a house and sleeping on a warm, cozy bed. He's very smart and is responding well to training. He already knows many basic commands. Malcolm is a good boy and walks well on a leash, which is pretty amazing for a big dog! Malcolm likes other dogs and gets along well with dogs in the home as well as those he sees on the street. He's still getting used to cats but should go to a home without cats. Malcolm is super friendly to everyone he meets and loves to cuddle. He'd make a great companion for long walks, jogging or hiking. He really is a great dog! We've had Malcolm examined by our vet, neutered, fully vaccinated and microchipped. If you'd like to meet this healthy, happy boy, please complete our adoption application found on dexterfoundation.com Malcolm needs a foster or forever home. We're adopting out to the Southern California area

Story
Hi my name is LUNA and I am in the market for a FOSTER or ADOPTIVE home! ♥️ My Mama Starlight got dumped at the already super filled pound while she was pregnant-what is wrong with humans?? She had us there and there was no room so they stuck us all in a teeny tiny shower stall 😡 We all got really sick and weren't gonna make it out the front door, but somehow we got SO LUCKY that this rescue came and got us out and to the animal hospital to save us. This rescue really had NO ROOM but they scrambled and got us into a few spots and even tho we had to keep being moved, it's all good, they somehow made it work thanks to a few different kind humans who let us stay with them for a bit-THANK YOU TEMP FOSTERS! 😇😇😇 I'm 4 months old and SO READY to find my forever home! I'm am a SUPER CUTE white female Lab/pitbull pup and like a typical puppy I like to eat, play, poop, sleep, rinse and repeat ha! 🐶🐶🐶 If you think I'm cute and want to adopt me head on over to www.bulliesandbuddies.com and fill out an application cool? I am in the Southern CA area-sorry but my rescue does NOT adopt out of state
