He would do best with another confident dog in the house or with someone who is active and home a lot. He loves other dogs. We prefer a home with no young kids as children make him nervous. Once Theo knows you he can’t give you enough affection but strangers do make him nervous especially men so a house without much traffic would be best.    This handsome boy is obsessed with tennis balls, loves running around at dog parks and playing with other pups big or small. He also loves bones or nylon toys but tends to enjoy pulling out the stuffing on stuffed animals. :)  Once you earn his trust he has nothing but love, cuddles, and kisses to give!  He loves to sleep in bed with you, especially under the covers… we understand that’s not for everyone but who can resist those soulful eyes?!   Theo is a Quick learner and loves to learn new tricks.  Bottom line… Theo has so many dimensions to him but once he is settled and trusts you, he is AMAZING!    If you would like to meet this handsome boy please fill out an application: https://www.muttsinneed.org/adoption-application.htmlNovember 3, 2024, 7:15 pm

Her sister who also came with her, was able to adjust faster and she got adopted.  Unfortunately, Electra's been in boarding now for a couple of years waiting for her forever home. She is very shy and the world outside of the kennel can be a scary place, especially after all of these years but the more you come to walk her the more comfortable you will see she is. She is phenomenal with other dogs. That’s truly her comfort zone is hanging out with the other dogs.  Dogs like Electra are not for everyone.  She needs someone who is going to be patient and give her the love and affection that she so desperately wants. Story
Hi! My name is Lincoln, and I'm looking for a happy ending in a loving, furever home! I used to live with my human mama in Mississippi. She died suddenly and unexpectedly. 😢 I was confiscated by animal control there when the police found her and was taken to a local high-kill shelter. 😢😢 While my mom's family was here taking care of her home and affairs, they got me out of the shelter and drove for 3.5 days cross-country back to California. I am a 2-year-old lab/pit mix. I still have my puppy energy. I have been working on his leash manners and commands. I LOVE to cuddle, think I'm a lap dog. I am crate-tained and potty trained. I would be best in a multi-person home with older kids (10+) where I can get a lot of stimulation and exercise. Because of my size, strength, and energy, I probably wouldn't be good in a home with little kids. I am good with mellow/submissive medium-to-large-breed dogs. I have a high prey drive, so small dogs, cats, or other small animals. I am an EXCELLENT gopher hunter, though! I am being fostered in Paso Robles, CA. 🍷

Story
Please contact Kerri for more information about this pet.Brody Male - Age 1.5 years young Good with Kids: Yes Good with Cats: Unknown Good with Dogs: Yes     Sweet Brody is a Lab mix looking for a family of his own. He is a goofy boy and still very much puppy like. He gets along good with my two other dogs (boxer and boxer/husky girls), and loves his people he bonds with and learns to trust. He is a curious shy boy at first but once he warms up, he is ready to play and he loves his toys! He can use some help walking better on a leash and to not be so scared but I can see as he builds his confidence, he is only going to get better! He is very treat motivated and wants to please. He is a happy pup that is house trained and pee pee pad trained.     He can use some support/training to learn to not jump up when he gets extra excited when he sees his people. He loves to be inside and also likes his time in the yard. He currently has his own setup in the garage that he seems to appreciate. He is somewhat crate trained, I leave the door open for him to his crate but that is where he sleeps and where he goes if he feels uncomfortable or scared. R&R Boxer Rescue has committed to supporting Brody, and finding him his forever family after his previous "rescue" abandoned all dogs they had pulled. If you are interested in meeting Brody and making a part of your family, please complete an adoption application. PictureNovember 6, 2024, 12:12 am

Story
This little cutie is Calvin. He's a 3 year old, 50 lb, neutered lab, border collie, chow mix. He LOVES PEOPLE and meets everyone with the most happy & GENTLE, kindness. He can be very chill and CUDDLY, but he's also not needy, clingy, or nervous. He's happy to just watch tv with you, or get out and about on a good walk. Calvin loved the pit bull he was rescued with and the two of them had lots of fun playing, but she got adopted. The dogs Calvin has met and likes, were introduced to him with walking beforehand and they were respectful and friendly. He also has a new buddy he loves who is a Great Pyrenese puppy. Calvin just loves him! Poor Calvin was in a crowded shelter and his time was up. He was set to be killed, but his good samaritan decided to save his life and help him find a home through a rescue representative. Come out and meet Calvin! He will melt your heart.

Story
Ronin, a lively and affectionate young lab whose heart is as big as his 88-pound frame! This energetic young pup is a playful spirit who loves nothing more than spending time with his favorite people, enjoying every toy in sight, and soaking up affection. Ronin is the perfect mix of fun and sweetness—he’s full of energy when it’s playtime, but when the excitement settles, he just wants to be by your side. Whether it’s a game of fetch, a long walk, or simply lounging next to you, Ronin’s happiest when he’s part of the action. He knows a few basic commands like sit, stay, and shake, but he’s still learning the ropes when it comes to obedience training. Since he’s eager to please, he’d thrive in a home where he gets consistent guidance, structure, and positive reinforcement.

Story
Meet Rosie! This 1 year old, 68lbs golden retriever/lab mix came to us from the Riverside Shelter after being found wandering alone wearing a harness and leash. Her people never came for her, which is wild because she is SUCH a sweet girl! She will be adopted out with a spay appointment in early April, so she needs a home willing to get her through her recovery. Rosie already knows sit, down, come, and kennel. She is super loving and very people-oriented. She appears to be potty trained in her foster home. So far she's been good in a kennel for a couple of hours, but we haven't left her for longer. This cutie is VERY strong and needs work on a leash. She's making improvements in her foster home, but she will need a furever home that can keep working with her. She also does have some protective/fearful tendencies that cause her to bark (loudly), so a family that can help her learn she doesn't need to protect them and that they will protect her will be key for this angel. Rosie was kenneled with two other dogs at the shelter and is very interested in the dogs in her foster home. However, when we tried to have her play with another dog outside of the shelter, her play style was very rough and bitey. She would probably be very overwhelming for smaller dogs or dogs that get overwhelmed by a lot of energy. For families with children, we are only recommending Rosie to homes with kids over the age of 10 due to her size. Overall, Rosie is a sweetheart and will make a wonderful addition to a very lucky home. If you are interested in adopting Rosie and live in Orange County, please fill out an application on our website. We are only able to accept applications from families living in Orange County at this time since Rosie is recovering from kennel cough and needs to be spayed by our vet in Costa Mesa once she's fully recovered.
