Story
Meet Byron! We believe he is a 3 year-old hound lab possibly staffy mix. He’s absolutely a super mutt mix and an amazing one too! He is young and active, playful and can be stubborn but ever so sweet and loving. He loves all he meets, he knows no stranger ever. . He is great with dogs, and cats, and best with older children as he is goofy and uncoordinated at times. Byron is friendly and outgoing and his joy is contagious. Byron can be mischievous if left to do his doing. He’s still very much a young dog with so much to smell, learn, meet, learn, and explore. Byron enjoys his daily routine exercise, playgroup, pack walks, and car rides as well as his training time. Byron is eager to please and extremely food and praise motivated. Fun is the key to his heart. He is very smart and easily picks up training. Byron also enjoys swimming, car rides, will never complain if his person wants to snuggle or cuddle either. Overall Byron is a very simple happy, fun pup. who enjoys life. Byron was originally from Puerto Rico but after a week in his new adopted home, the family decided they did not want a pup. Sadly he made it to the state just to be rejected. Byron is house and crate trained, up to date on all appropriate core vaccines including lepto, corona, and rabies shot, dewormed, fecal tested negative, microchipped, neutered, and current on monthly heartworm flea/tick prevention. Updated: 3/25/2023 www.animalhousesanctuary.org We believe training is an ongoing process that needs to be worked on daily. New issues that arise, need to be addressed and/or rewarded. Understanding that continued training is a lifetime commitment, is very important. Out-of-state adopters are welcome at the adopter's expense. Meet & Greets are a required before proceeding with an adoption. We DO NOT ship any of our pets.

Story
Meet Holmes!!! Holmes is believed to be a 4-year-old, Yellow Lab hound mix. He is amazing with dogs and cats and devoted and in love with all humans he meets. Holmes is extremely gentle but clingy and very praise and food driven. But his biggest motivation is people. Holmes has learned most of his basic commands including learning “not to bark excessively when excited or the need to communicate his needs/wants. He does need to be reminded to use his indoor voice, but overall he is eager to please and easily continues to learn with positive reinforcement and praise and lots of love and affection. His biggest motivation is his peoples' attention and love. All hounds are amazing but Holmes is extraordinarily awesome because he leads with his heart. Holmes is house and crate trained. He walks well on a leash. His recall is actually pretty good for a hound. Holmes will need a fully fenced-in yard and daily walks to let his sniffer work. The occasional car ride as needed is ok but definitely not his favorite as it does cause him some anxiety. He enjoys urban life and being surrounded by people makes him happy. Especially short drives to the drive through in town and down the road. An active, hands-on home with daily outdoor walks/adventures and someone home often would be best for Holmes. He thrives with all human companionship. I dare to say Holmes can be stage 5 clinger. Not the worse but clingy enough to honor the label.Holmes is house and crate trained, not distructive, up to date on all appropriate core vaccines including lepto and corona, as well as rabies, de-wormed, fecal tested negative, micro-chipped including free registration to adopters, neutered, and current on monthly heart-worm flea/tick prevention. Story
Meet Mouse! A 2 yr old super happy mutt mix. Mouse weighs 29 pounds and she’s some kind of lab collie hound mix. Her mom was a pit mix and her siblings are all 75 plus pounds. Her bark is barely heard, but she is quick even for being a paraplegic dog. Mouse is dog cat, and every breathing animal friendly. Mouse suffered a spinal and neck trauma injury as a puppy that prohibits her from walking but that doesn’t stop her. Mouse does wear diapers as needed. She is active, playful, outgoing, and will give it her all to keep up with any dog. She does not have a off button so we make sure to monitor her activity and time spent on her drag bag, wheelchair/scooter/walker time. This girl has the spirit of a pack of wolves. Mouse is fully grown, we think. Last time the vet said so she gain another 10 pounds. Mouse does have limitations but nothing that she can’t overcome with help and the right family. We do so daily since she was 4 weeks old. She has all items above that come with her and a 2 months of all needed supplies upon adoption. Mouse microchipped, up to date on all appropriate core vaccines including lepto, rabies, dewormed, fecal tested negative, microchipped, neutered, and on monthly heartworm flea/tick prevention. Story
Barkley is a sweet senior Lab with a precious "sugar sprinkled face. He has earned his grey hair over the years! Barkley came to us as a stray and we never figured out how in the world this sweet boy ended up out there all alone. He is not too sure of the shelter, it's very stressful on a senior dog. He has been a picky eater so far and seems to prefer wet food. Barkley is housebroken and he isn't about moving too fast. He likes to take his time sniffing around outside, but will most likely end up right beside you. Need a sidekick to help enjoy the finer things in life and sit together on the couch watching movies? Barkley is your guy! Apply here: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/TIP-A-225

Story
Nash is a lovable, goofy dog. He has the biggest smile and tail wags when he greets people. He is very much an inside dog (even though he is a lab) because cars and busy city noises make him very anxious. He will play outside if you are outside with him. He is not a great walker, though (pulls on the leash to get back home). Nash also has allergies which require a daily dose of cyclosporine (which he takes very well when wrapped in a piece of bread with peanut butter), a Cytopoint shot about every 3 months, and a weekly bath. He’s had a doggie sister for 2 years and gets along well with her. He knows how to sit, shake, and lay - very good motivated and learns quickly when treats are involved. He really is a great dog who requires a little more medical attention because of his allergies. We have started new jobs that require travel most of the time and it isn’t feasible to board him that much.

Story
"Personal space? What's that?" - Elva Elva is our resident Wiggle Queen and master of the zoomies! This playful pup needs more room to run and a family that can keep up with her energy. She's housebroken and crate trained, and she's got her commands down pat - sit, down, leave it, and off. When it comes to playtime, Elva is a toy enthusiast! Her favorite? Tennis balls, which she can turn into confetti faster than you can say "fetch!"Here's what her foster has to say:"Elva is hands-down the sweetest dog I've ever met. Her approach to cuddles is delightfully chaotic - imagine a wiggle-worm with an unending supply of energy trying to figure out how to settle in for a snuggle. She's got the heart of a lover, even if her technique needs some work. Just keep petting, and she'll eventually find her groove! And forget about ‘me-time'. Elva believes that if you're on the other side of a door, something's gone terribly wrong. Whether you're in the bathroom or taking a nap, she'll be right there, demanding full-time, doorless togetherness. When it comes to playtime, tennis balls are her jam! She's got a knack for turning them into confetti in no time. I had to keep a stockpile because her sad puppy eyes are impossible to resist when she's managed to shred another one. I mean, look at that face! Elva's energy levels are off the charts. She could run a marathon, take a power nap, and be ready for round two before you've even caught your breath. She's a whirlwind of fun, and with her around, life is one endless adventure!"Elva's been known to get the craziest zoomies when she's happy, zipping around with pure joy. While she's lived with other dogs before, she would probably love to be an only dog and be spoiled rotten! She's also had her fill of cats, so a feline-free home would be perfect for her. Elva's ideal family will have kids who are 14 years old or older, ready to join in on the fun and keep up with her antics.Elva can't wait to start her new life with you - it's going to be an adventure packed with love, laughter, and a whole lot of zoomies!

Story
Meet Sunny short for Sunflower. She is believed to be a bloodhound shepherd mix possibly retriever. a year old at most. Sunny was pulled from a local shelter Christmas of 2021 after a hoarding abandonment case of 27 plus fearful feral dogs left behind in a property. The home was condemned, disgusting filthy. A home in such condition, no animal or human should have to live in. Sunny and 3 others call the sanctuary home for the time being, all are doing amazing with their rehab, learning what life as a loved pet should be. Sunny struggles to settle in and takes more time then the others. She is the one that stresses easily when meeting new people but with a playful active dog mentoring her she does so much better. She slowly warms up some when it comes to people, still unsure if she wants human affection at first but will always take a treat, moves in for petting, willing to snuggle and even cuddle. Sunny loves all the dogs, is good with cats and small critters too. A 100% secured fenced in yard is a must, A home with other pets is required. At least 1 other balance playful, outgoing dog for her to follow/gravitate toward. Sunny has an amazing personality she herself is still learning about who she is. Always best to approach her slow at first. Sunny needs a lot of confidence still, and that requires a lot of patience with no set time frame and expectations ever. Allow her to live life 1 day at a time. Sunny walks amazing on leash, barks very little but barks. is very playful, loves treats, and eventually settles in. Sunny is house and crate trained, up to date on all appropriate core vaccines including lepto, rabies, de-wormed, fecal tested negative, micro-chipped, neutered, and on monthly heart-worm flea/tick prevention.
