Story
Breed(s): Labrador Retriever/German Shepherd Mix Age: 3 years Weight: 65 pounds Vetting Status: Neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, heartworm negative & maintained on preventatives. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Looking for a dog that is all about YOU? A best friend, a loyal companion? Trevor may just be your guy! This handsome, eager to please fella was found as a stray, completely emaciated. He gained over 25 pounds and looks like a completely different dog! Trevor is crate trained, but much prefers having less restrictions and more freedom. His house manners have been stellar in his foster home -- no accidents or incidents. Trevor loves people, a love bug that wants to be the center of someone's world! Hanging out and being in your presence & playing with his K-9 companions fulfills his days. Stuffed Kongs are certainly on the favorites list too. This sweet boy is a highly intelligent and rapidly picked up on learning an array of commands to include sit, lay, paw, kennel, down and no. Trevor also enjoys going for a car ride & will gladly offer to ride shot gun on all your important trips... petstore, mcd's, bank with a drive thru giving out cookies, etc. Trevor has been exposed to a vast array of other dogs, both big & small. He would love to have K-9 companions, but surely would not argue with being a SHD (single hound dog) & the center of attention. Cats seem super fun to chase (eek!) and would NOT be recommended. If you think Trevor may be the pup for you, please visit the link below to fill out an application. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ TREVOR is available for adoption through K-9 Rescue of the Eastern Shore. An adoption process is required to include filling out an online adoption application available at the following link -- https://www.k9rescuees.org/info/adoption Veterinary and personal reference checks, and a home visit/meet-n-greet are required PRIOR to being approved to adopt. The time frame for completing this process depends largely on how quickly references respond, your vet office is able to speak to us (some want written permission first), your landlord or HOA (if applicable) confirms their approval for a pet, & how your schedule aligns with that of our volunteer(s) for the Home Visit. ~~~~~~~~~~ PLEASE NOTE ~ All of our rescue members are volunteers with many obligations. While we may not be capable of immediate response, we will respond to all inquiries and application submissions as soon as possible. Thank you for thinking adoption!

Story
Lola is all the fun of a puppy without the work of puppy training. Fully housebroken and crate-trained, she knows commands sit, fetch, get into crate. She's spayed and up to date on all shots. Lola is a loving dog who wags her tail whenever she sees you. She's just grown but still has a lot of puppy energy. She walks on a leash but needs more practice to not tug on leash. She will stay in a fenced yard. She's fine with cats and other young dogs, eager to make friends and play. We're fostering Lola for a neighbor who loved her, but couldn't keep her. We can't adopt her ourselves because such a young, playful dog is not a good match for our very elderly, timid dogs and cats. She's been loving and friendly with our teenager and elementary school kids. She hasn't been around toddlers. We'll include her collar, crate, bowls, and enough dog food to get started for 2 weeks. The adoption fee will be donated to the city animal shelter.

Story
Introducing the newest sweet and savory sensation from McDonald's-meet McMuffin! This delightful treat is here to warm your heart and fill your home with fun and love! McMuffin is a lovely female Labrador Retriever mix, and she's got the energy of a firework ready to burst! Her absolute favorite snack? English muffins, the kind you use to whip up those delicious breakfast egg sandwiches. But, watch out! Her tummy can get a tad grumbly if she indulges too much. As she's matured, McMuffin likes to take life at a leisurely pace, being kind to her joints and bones. But when it comes to showing you affection, she's all in-wet kisses and wiggly butt wags galore! Now, McMuffin can be a bit nervous when she first meets her family, so she's looking for her forever home right in the heart of Texas. She's discovered true happiness in her foster home and would thrive best with another calm, confident dog as a companion. Or, if you're up for it, she'd be over the moon to be reunited with her sister, McFlurry! So, if you're craving a special addition to your life, don't miss out on the delightful McMuffin. Swing by and let her add a sprinkle of joy to your days! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX)

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. This is a courtesy posting. Please call 410-627-6563 for information. Moose McDougal (Moose, Gary Moosie), Retriever Mix, 2 yo in October 2024, 65 lbs Moose McDougal, the humble dog overflowing with personality. He’s spectacular. He is house and crate trained. He knows basic commands and walks well on a leash. Smarts? Yes! He has brains and beauty. You can get him to do anything for a treat! Good with other dogs? We are so happy to add to Moose’s bio that he could live with another dog. He made fast friends with another foster dog who is smaller and female. He does not need a doggie friend but he has truly enjoyed making a new friend. Favorite things? RUNNING! Investigating! Playing with other dogs. Cutie will play ball by himself by throwing the ball in the air with a flick of his head. No words for the goofiness on display. Personality? Goofy. Caring. Independent. Curious. Background? Moose was adopted as a pup when his original owners were visiting Turks & Caicos. He was brought back to NYC. The bustling city life was not his style. He’s meant to be running free in a yard and not stressed by strangers coming at him from every angle. Ideal Family? Moose needs an adult-only, quiet home. New people scare him. He warms up over time after he feels safe. Totally do-able with patience. Ask us about him getting acquainted with his dog walker. <3 Ideal Home? Give this speedster a good, fenced yard where he can fulfill his fantasy of being the graceful, Axis deer, running through endless fields. We have one strict requirement for Moose’s adoptive family. They must agree to continue his persona of Moose McDougal, investigative reporter, complete with a very specific voice. Chesney's guardian explains why she has made the decision to rehome him:  A family friend adopted Chesney and subsequently another puppy and it proved too much for Chesney, so his current guardians are temporarily fostering him during the rehome search. BITE INCIDENT:  More than 10 days ago, in Bel Air, MD, Chesney bit a human family member.  The bite broke the skin but medical attention was not required.  While Chesney was sleeping on his place board, someone reached over to grab something which startled him.  He also guards his resources, so he's snapped on previous occasions. Chesney's guardian states the following regarding children:  Chesney hasn't lived with children, so his guardian doesn't recommend his living with children, stating "He is neutral." Chesney's guardian states the following regarding dogs:  Chesney has lived with dogs, so his guardian recommends his living with dogs, stating "He enjoys playing with other dogs." Chesney's guardian states the following regarding cats:  Chesney hasn't lived with cats, so his guardian doesn't recommend his living with cats, stating "Never been around cats." We advise that adopters do not send payment or deposits for pets prior to adopting.  ***** Arya is a lab/boxer/pit mix, is 8yo, weighs 50lbs, is spayed, is up to date on her vaccines, and is microchipped.  Arya's guardians offers:  "Arya is extremely loyal, loves attention and to be petted and lobved.  She listens extrenmely well and is very trainable.  She loves to sleep and snuggle in bed/couch, but will only do so if prompted to.  She also loves to steal socks out of the laundry and snuggle with them!  Knows all basic commands (sit, stay, lay, come).  Does good in car.  She is territorial toward the house so will bark and jump at the door with delivery drivers." Arya's guardians explain why they have made the difficult decision to rehome her: "Arya has been protective of the house since we adopted her.  She see's red when someone comes to the door or stops in the drive way from delivery or family members.  If a stranger comes to the door, she sees red and goes after whatever is near her aka our other dog.  She has NEVER gone after a person.  We  have an one year old that has started walking and the fear of her attacking him if someone comes near the door is a major safety concern. She also has a high small prey drive.  She has lunged at two smaller children once when she was 8 months and when she was 6 years old.  She recently in December angrily barked and angrily lunged at a one year old.  Teeth out.  She was outside and the child was by the sliding door.  She attacked the glass sliding door. We have worked with four trainers and worked with our vet on medications" BITE/LUNGE/ATTACK INCIDENTS:  Prior to 10 days ago, Arya lunged/attacked/bit her canine siblings, which broke the skin, which needed medical intervention, but animal control was not involved.  Arya's guardians explain:  "She has broken skin to our other dogs in the household.  She has  broken skin on bear (bleeding) and puncture wounds etc.  She has broken skin thats resulted in emergency surgery for our dog Remington who needed 10 stitches."  Arya's guardians offer a brief medical history:  Arya is taking 1 tab of Prozac each day; Gabapentin and Trazadone are administered as needed. Arya's guardians state the following regarding children:  Although Arya has lived with (until recently) a 1yo child, her guardians don't recommend her living with younger children, stating "We keep separated but tolerates baby". Arya's guardians state the following regarding dogs:  Although Arya has lived with (until recently) dogs, her guardians don't recommend her living with dogs, stating "She does great at doggy daycare.  Gets along with other dogs outside the home". We advise that adopters do not send payment or deposits for pets prior to adopting.  ***** Cap (originally Cap'n - Captain), is 10-12yo, weighs 65lbs, is spayed, is up to date on her vaccines, and is microchipped.  She knows 'sit', 'stay', and 'go out'; she dislikes nail trims/touching her paws, thunder, fireworks and vacuums; also, she does well during car ridees.  Cap's guardian adds:  "Cap is a very sweet, loyal dog but she is just not good with little children.  It breaks our hearts to have to do this - we have a 15-month-old little girl.  Cap has nipped at her before, so we have been keeping them separated since.  Anytime they've been around each other since then, either me or my husband has been right there." Cap's guardian explains why she has made the difficult decision to rehome her:  Sadly, Cap recently bit her very young human sibling's face; guardian believes the event arose from jealousy and feels she is not good with little children.   Bite incident:  On 14 February 2024, in Galena, MD, Cap bit her 15-mo-old human sibling in the face; the bite broke the skin; animal control was not involved.  Cap's guardian further explains:   "On Valentine's Day, our daughter was playing with clothes in a laundry basket and Cap was sitting between her and the bed where my husband was sleeping.  I turned around for a second and heard Cap bark/sort of growl and my daughter start crying.  Cap bit our daughter's face - got underneath her eye, her chin, cheek and lip.  I did not see exactly what happened but I think it was a jealousy thing since she was between my daughter and my husband.  I honestly don’t even think she meant to bite her, I think it was more a nip/warning and happened to get her.  Our daughter did not need stitches, but got her tetanus booster early and a round of antibiotics just to be safe." Cap's guardian states the following regarding children:  Cap lives with a child (since birth until 15 months of age), but her guardian doesn't recommend her living with young children, stating "Cap has been okay with children outside the home.  We fully believe this was a jealousy thing as she is very attached to my husband". Cap's guardian states the following regarding dogs:  Cap doesn't lived with dogs, so her guardian doesn't recommend her living with dogs, stating "Cap is typically find with dogs but she can come off a little strong/excited, which sometimes scares other dogs.  Has done well in group play settings but is usually more interested in people.  Since she's never lived with a dog, we're not sure how she'd be as she does get jealous". Cap's guardan states the following regarding cats:  Cap lives with a cat, so her guardian recommends her living with cats, stating "Wants to chase but not aggressive.  She has lived with out cat since 2018 and they do very well together". Story
Old Yeller, is that a new trend? Old stuff made NEW?? Cause I am NOT old, although I am Yeller, a really pretty YELLER COLOR!!! :) I am a Yeller Chesapeake bay retriever/ YELLER lab mix, it is important for my new family to know about the Chesapeake bay breed. We can be very stubborn, smart and independent and I really like to be in charge, so my new family needs to be strong leaders too. I am a handsome bloke, with swirls of yellow and white all through my coat. I am very smart and very sweet. I can from a high kill shelter with no hope- Now I EXUDE hope!! And LOVE!!! I WAS heartworm positive but have already finished the treatment and am NEGATIVE and just stay on prevention for the rest of my life. I am good with other dogs, but really would be best in an only dog home, cause I want all the attention :) I LOVE MY people and I tend to take "control" of my home so have to have a couple of things... 1) STRONG leadership owner, 2) I have to have an owner who will be wiling to not let me meet everyone who visits.. I want to protect my home a little too much... and 3) I have to stay in the San Antonio/TX area so my rescue friends can keep close tabs on me and how i am doing :) I have been running and playing since I am safe, but really am a couch potato. I am a bigger boy and about 65-70#. Look me up, get my number, text or call me OR just APPLY to ADOPT ME!!! I will be waiting by the phone!!! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX)
We'll also keep you updated on Truffles BW's adoption status with email updates.

Story
Meet Truffles! Truffles is an adorable & exuberant puppy with huge stick up bat signal ears. When not receiving transmissions, her giant receivers crisscross atop her head. She loves long walks on her leash, zooming, playing with balls & stuffies, tug-of-war and of course, cuddling. She has a genetic condition that requires a bit of extra time & special steps at meals. She has a custom chair that allows her to eat in an upright position. Truffles eagerly gets into her chair as she is quite food motivated. She is intelligent, active, affectionate, and eager to please. She is ideal for an active family or individual. Local adoption fee is $250 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $500 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)
