Story
Katie is currently looking for a forever home for her golden years. Katie's owner passed and had nowhere to go. She is currently in a foster home, learning to live, love and trust again. She has done amazing in her foster home. Katie needs structure in her life as she sometimes can have accidents in the home if you don't catch her "outside" cue's. She loves to play! She's not much of a toy play dog but would rather play with her people and get loving!  Katie sleeps through the night and does not have any existing medical needs. She would do best as an only dog but seems to do better with smaller, respectable dogs. She has not been cat tested but judging on her reaction to small wildlife, we think cats would be a no. Older kids would suit her best as well.  She walks great on a leash and doesn't need a crate when left alone (as long as you don't leave food out as she will try to counter surf to the best of her abilities and usually succeeds!) Katie's hearing is not the best but her vision is still good! She may do well in an apartment but would definitely need to be a first floor apartment ONLY.November 4, 2024, 7:46 pm

Story
Boe is 5 years old and is a black lab mix. He was adopted in August of 2019 from the Cuyahoga County Animal Shelter in Valley View Ohio when he was only 3 months old. Doctors estimated he was born around May 30, 2019. He was found roaming the streets of Garfield Heights, OH. He is a loving, playful, and highly energetic doggie! He is crate and potty trained. He was already neutered when we adopted him and he is microchipped. He is our only pet and has never been around cats. He has been around dogs because we sometimes board him at Barks & Recreation in Macedonia, OH when we go out of town. He seems to do pretty good there. He loves to play! Boe received his yearly vaccines on July 6, 2024.Boe loves car rides!November 19, 2024, 1:32 pm

Story
Say hello to Pepper! Pepper is a male lab mix that weighs 76 pounds and is approximately 8 months old. Pepper was found abandoned at a truck stop by a good Samaritan. Pepper is a popular friendly guy at the shelter. He loves everyone. He is super strong and will need help with his leash manners and walking straight on leash. He will definitely benefit from general obedience training and leash manners. He is very food motivated which should make training a breeze. He is playful, loving, affectionate, and always happy. He would love a home with a fenced in yard because this boy loves to play outside. No young children because this guy does not know his size. Pepper is perfect for an active patient family who is willing to put in the work to train him. Pepper has shown great potential with other dogs. As always, a meet and greet with resident dogs is required. Since Pepper is a high energy guy, another high energy big dog would be best for him. Cat compatibility is unknown. He is available for our foster to adopt program which means you can foster him in your home until he finishes vetting which includes updated vaccines and heartworm testing. Pepper is already neutered and microchipped. Please email dogadoptions@parmashelter.org and fill out an adoption application online to meet Pepper. Pepper’s adoption fee is $160. Pepper is so handsome and he knows it.

Story
Hello, my name is Duke. I moved to Ohio from New York to live with my foster family. My family was very sorry to let me go because I am a good boy. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen life circumstances they could not keep me. My foster family takes good care of me. I live with 6 other dogs and 6 kids that I love to play with! I am good with all sizes of dogs, but my foster parents say I need to learn my boundaries better. I don’t take the hint very well when my furry friends say they have had enough. I am a big cuddle bug and love sleeping with people if I am allowed. Mom and Dad say I don’t understand how big and strong I am, so I am sorry if I accidentally knock my kids down or hurt someone jumping into their lap. I love to chew so chew toys are a must. My old Mom said my old Dad was very mean to me, so sometimes I cower when I it seems like I am in trouble and could be hit. I am very afraid of corrective collars, please don’t put one on me. If I bark, it is because I need attention, or I see or hear something outside. I don’t bark unnecessarily. My foster parents say I need more training. I know sit and come but I don’t always listen. I am very food motivated so that is a benefit for training. I currently eat my lunch and dinner in my crate because I have foster siblings that don't like to share food and my foster parents don't want anyone to get in a fight. My Mom gets up at 6 in the morning for work, so I am used to going out in the morning at 6:30 and then being in my crate until 5. I do well in my crate, but my favorite time is when they come home, and I can be out to run the yard and play with my family and friends. I eat 1.5 cups of food 2x a day and I always have water in my crate when my parents are gone. I am a really good boy with lots of energy and love to share. Please consider giving me my furever home!

Story
River is 2 years old. He lives with his 4 year old sister, Maggie a German shepherd golden retriever mix. He is neutered, house trained, and up to date on vaccines. He uses a harness on a leash in order to take out, can get very excited when meeting new people and barks alot at other dogs. He is a sweetheart in the house and would do ok with another dog introduced correctly. He is submissive compared to his sister. I do not have the necessary time anymore to take care of him and will rehome only if he will be going to someone who can care and train him more than me.

Story
Every now and then you just meet a dog you just can't understand how anyone could have let go of. Lennon is definitely one of those dogs! She is absolutely stunning with her soft, chocolate coat and amber eyes. Out of her kennel she is sweet, cuddly, and ignores the other dogs passing by. She is listed at approximately a year old and a Labrador Retriever mix. She would really like a home for the holidays! Come meet her today! A meet and greet is required with other dogs that live in your home prior to adoption. The shelter is open Tuesdays through Fridays 3:30-6:30pm AND Saturdays & Sundays 1pm-4pm. No appointments are needed during those times. Thank you for considering the adoption of a shelter animal in need!
