Story
Meet Rossi! He has been waiting for his family since 2017! This young adult boy is ready to join your active lifestyle.  He had a tough start in his life, vet said that he had a broken leg at some point, but you would never know it.  He is extremely happy and so loving.  Rossi has basic obedience training and is already house and crate trained. He loves to spend his days at doggy day care.  If you are looking for a handsome running companion -- he, is it!!  Rossi currently lives with other dogs, but he would be best as a solo dog as he takes time to warm up to other 4-legged friends.  He loves attention and is selective as to who he shares it with. Why would he not— look at him, a ladies' man for sure!   Rossi's  adoption fee is $100 in Houston, Tx or I can be transported for $350 out of state, which includes neuter, current vaccinations, health certificate, transport fees and microchip. He is heartworm negative.  Apply to adopt  him at  https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=DCMHRQZTAugust 20, 2024, 2:58 pm

Story
Gia doesn`t seem to have spent much time around people before and was very scared and nervous when she first came into the shelter. We`ve been working with her and are slowly showing her that humans are her friends. She`s already come so far - we`re so proud of her! She`s still wary of people and tries to back away from them at first, but if you`re gentle and patient and go slowly with her she`ll let you pet and touch her now. You can tell she has no idea what to make of the gesture , and she`s very nervous about it. Despite her fear she`s never shown any signs of aggression. We`re also working with her on the leash - she`ll let you put it on now, but has no idea what she`s supposed to do after that, and she`s too nervous to walk on it. She still doesn`t feel comfortable taking treats from your hand, but you can bet as soon as you leave her kennel she`s eating them. She loves treats! Gia is thriving in her current short term foster home. Her leash skills are improving, and she has started trusting her fosters enough to take treats from their hands. She`s living well with other dogs and is slowly gaining confidence!

Story
Domino is a fun-loving kind of guy. He`s always got a grin on his face and he loves to run around and play! He`s both playful and puppyish, and finds everything to be exciting and fun! He`s got lots of energy and likes to keep active. He enjoys chasing after toys when you throw them, but he won`t bring them back. He`ll make his own fun by batting them around by himself sometimes though! Another great love of his is treats. They make him VERY happy! He`s done great spending time with kids on a doggy day out, and the 9YO had no problem handling him on leash! He knows to be laidback around children, and loved them hugging and kissing on him. He`s also gotten along well with other dogs in shelter playgroups. Who wouldn`t want a handsome boy like this around to liven things up?!Domino es un tipo amante de la diversión.

Story
Giblet has been campaigning to be your new bet friend since he came into the shelter on 11/7/22. His campaign slogan is `No treat left behind!` and he takes that very seriously. There`s not a crumb left when Giblet`s done with it! With his handsome face and friendly personality he`s sure to swing the polls in his favor. He really deserves to win your vote after having been in an overcrowded shelter for so long! Giblet is very serious about finding someone to foster, adopt, or rescue him…but his mission hasn`t left him boring! He`s still a very happy and playful boy who`s so much fun to be around. He likes to be pet and play, and he`s very gentle with his toys. He has an average energy level meaning he`s got the best of both worlds. He gets along great with his constituents (other dogs) in shelter playgroups and loves the company. So vote for Giblet and share his message so that he can find that new best friend position he`s so deserving of!

Story
You know how they say don’t judge a book by its cover? Shelters have a version of that too. Don’t judge a dog by how they act when you walk by their kennel. Our dogs get so excited when people walk by – a lot of times they bark and jump to try and get your attention. They don’t realize they’re scaring you off! Braxton is a perfect example of this. He barks and it sounds really alarming when people are close to his kennel – it’s just a barrier thing. He’s actually very calm and chill. Just let us take him out for you to meet, then you’re sure to fall in love!Loose in the play yard Braxton has a lower energy level. He’s not much for toys or playing, he just enjoys relaxing. He’s independent too and can keep himself entertained. His favorite hobby is sniffing around. After he’s smelt everything he’s likely to just sit down and accept some pets. Braxton has a huge love of treats. While he doesn’t know any tricks yet he always takes them nicely from your hand. He walks well on a leash too without pulling.

Tucker is such a party pup. He turns everything into a good time and always wants to play. He never takes things too seriously…except for treats. That`s very serious business and he`ll sit on command for one. When there`s no treats on the line Tucker just wants to goof around and have fun!Tucker is a 3YO Lab mix who came into the shelter as a stray on 12/19/22. He`s very happy and outgoing, and consider everyone he`s ever met a friend. He can get a little too excited to see those friends though and has a habit of jumping on them. He just wants you to be as excited to see him as he is to see you! Tucker is both energetic and playful. He has a higher energy level and is prone to the zoomies.

If you're looking for a couch potato milo is the one. He loves his dog bed to be where you are and wants to relax most of his day away. Hes around 8 years old and has done great with dogs, cats, and kids. He's a sweet gentle dog who loves to cuddle and lay around the house. He prefers to be indoors relaxing in the cool air rather than outside. He's a lazy pup but will be right for you if you prefer a low energy but affectionate dog.

Story
Hello future adopter! This is Piper - a black lab mix with some white on her chest. She is approximately 8 months old and we found her abandoned on the side of a road with no owner in sight. With the Texas heat being so unforgiving, we simply could not leave Piper to just fend by herself. So we took her in to care for her and foster her as we find her a new home. Unfortunately, I cannot keep her because of my cancer. With my fatigue levels and cancer treatments, I physically cannot provide her the best she deserves. In addition, I may be moving out of state soon to receive more advanced treatments. At the moment, she is living in our home with our 4-year-old cat. We've crate-trained and house-trained her. She loves to play fetch, catch lasers, and enjoys long walks outside. She deserves a home with a family that can give her more than I am able to. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask! Thanks for stopping by.

Story
Junie is a sweet and energetic 7 month old lab mix. We adopted her about 4 months ago after our son’s repeated requests and promises that he would “do everything” for a puppy. Unfortunately, this has not been the case and we (mom and dad) do not have the time to give her the attention she deserves. Junie is a great dog. She knows sit, down, leave it/drop it, and shake. She is GREAT at fetch and loves to run and play. She is mostly house and crate trained. She is up to date on all shots. She loves kids and is working on keeping all paws on the floor when meeting new people. She gets along well with other dogs —again, loves to play. Our cats find her energy annoying 😂 but she only seeks them out to try and play. We are happy to send Junie with her food, toys, and crate. She would be an amazing addition to an active adult, couple, or family! Please reach out if interested! Thank you for reading.

Story
We found Duggie abandoned at our ranch. From the beginning, he has had a sweet and playful temperament. He loves attention and thinks he is a lap dog. He has proven to be house trained but could use some work on his table manners. His favorite toy is his Kong toy (especially when filled with squirt cheese). He rides well in a car. He also enjoyed getting a bath, letting you wash his paws and tail. We have had him neutered and vaccinated. He is also confirmed heartworm free. We think he would do best with a loving family and some room to run.

Story
Meet Betty, our senior lady black Staffordshire Terrier mix. Staffordshire Terriers are a breed known for their loyalty, affection, and muscular build. Despite her age, Betty still loves to go for walks and be outside. She came in overweight and has been on a diet to help her lose some of those extra pounds; she has lost 30 pounds already! She also has hypo-thyroid, which can make her a bit temperamental at times. However, we are working with her veterinarian to find the right medication dosage to keep her happy and healthy.Betty craves attention and loves nothing more than being by your side. She`s a loyal friend who will stick with you through thick and thin, and she`ll always be there to offer you comfort and support. If you`re looking for a loving and devoted companion who will fill your days with love and joy, Betty is the perfect pup for you. Come meet her today and see for yourself what a wonderful addition she would make to your family! All of our dogs come with: vaccinations including Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella; heartworm test, treatment if positive, and prevention; flea treatment and prevention; deworming and fecal float; spayed/neutered; microchipping; and adoption counselling by a medical staff member.

Story
Est. dob: 3/18/23,  expected to be a medium adult  Hi I’m Daisey and I was found scared and curled up along the side of the road on Westpark Tollway near Highway 6. I could be shy at first but am very sweet, friendly, social pup who loves to play and lounge. I’m very wiggly and still trying to learn to not jump as much, so a home with some one that works from home and older kids would probably be best. Currently live with other dogs and cats (although I also think I can play with them). Still working on potty and crate training Daisey is in a foster home with other dogs that she does well with. We are looking for a home where someone is home a majority of the time and there are no children under 5. Daisey is looking for a cat free home. Please consider making this adorable girl a member of your family. As we are a foster based rescue, we do require a completed application to be submitted before we arrange a meet.  This can be found on our website at : and https://almosthomepetrescue.org/apply-now-1   $200 adoption fee includes core vaccinations, rabies vaccination, heart worm test (in dogs over 6 months of age), microchip and registration, spay/neuter, wormer and flea and heart worm prevention while the dog is in our care. All breed and size categorizations are estimates.    If transporting out of state, the total adoption cost will be $500. This amount is inclusive of adoption fee, transport fee, health certificate, and taxes.      August 8, 2024, 5:50 pm
