Story
Est. DOB: 12/17/2023, male, neutered, chipped, and UTD on vaccinations  King Huff is a super smart, lovable pup who loves playing hard as much as he loves snuggling up with you. He loves running around, exploring, playing tug with his foster sister, and chewing on his toys. He knows sit, down, wait, and touch, and he is learning leave it, drop it, and come. He loves walks, but we're still working on leash manners. And if you call his name, he comes running! This little guy didn't have the easiest start in life. At just three months old, he ended up at BARC with a broken leg, which he got when his last owner kicked him. Despite it all, he was a champ throughout his recovery, never letting it get him down. &#226&#150&#182&#239&#184&#143 Crate-Trained: King settles quickly in his crate, especially if he has his snuggle puppy and a treat or lick mat to occupy him. No issues with accidents as long as he goes outside after meals and every time he comes out of his crate. He sleeps through the night in his crate. He's also crated during the workday but needs a mid-day potty break. &#226&#150&#182&#239&#184&#143 Treat Motivated: This little guy is eager to please and will do just about anything for a treat. When it's dinner or treat time, he will sit and wait in the kitchen while you get things ready and then go straight into his crate to wait for you to give it to him. &#226&#150&#182&#239&#184&#143 Dogs/Cats: Charlie is a rambunctious young puppy with lots of energy so he is still learning some of his playtime manners and working on socialization. He did great in play groups during boarding and enjoys playing chase and tug with his bigger foster sister in short, supervised sessions. He has had limited exposure to cats, seeming mostly curious and wanting to sniff and lick. &#226&#150&#182&#239&#184&#143 People/Kids: He can be apprehensive and vocal around new people. But if you give him a chance to approach on his terms or toss him a treat, he will be your buddy. He hasn't had any exposure to young children. King Huff is in a foster home with other dogs that he does well with. We are looking for a home where no children are under 10 years old.  Please consider making this gorgeous boy a member of your family. As we are a foster based rescue, we require a completed application to be submitted before we arrange a meet.  This can be found on our website at :    Apply Now (almosthomepetrescue.org) $200 adoption fee includes core vaccinations, rabies vaccination, heart worm test (in dogs over 6 months of age), microchip and registration, spay/neuter, wormer and flea and heart worm prevention while the dog is in our care. All breed and size categorizations are estimates .  If transporting out of state, the total adoption cost will be $500. Story
Est. dob: 3/18/23,  expected to be a medium adult  Hi I’m Daisey and I was found scared and curled up along the side of the road on Westpark Tollway near Highway 6. I could be shy at first but am very sweet, friendly, social pup who loves to play and lounge. I’m very wiggly and still trying to learn to not jump as much, so a home with some one that works from home and older kids would probably be best. Currently live with other dogs and cats (although I also think I can play with them). Still working on potty and crate training Daisey is in a foster home with other dogs that she does well with. We are looking for a home where someone is home a majority of the time and there are no children under 5. Daisey is looking for a cat free home. Please consider making this adorable girl a member of your family. As we are a foster based rescue, we do require a completed application to be submitted before we arrange a meet.  This can be found on our website at : and https://almosthomepetrescue.org/apply-now-1   $200 adoption fee includes core vaccinations, rabies vaccination, heart worm test (in dogs over 6 months of age), microchip and registration, spay/neuter, wormer and flea and heart worm prevention while the dog is in our care. Story
Boots is an older dog but in good health. We are getting close to leaving for overseas and our family arrangements for him fell through, it would be cruel to take him with us as he would have to travel cargo. Please help us find him a caring person or family to give him the love and attention he deserves! Boots is a sweet mix. He acts more Labrador than Rottweiler, but he is a calm dog. He is very social and is used to living in our relatively small house with a lot of people, other dogs and cats. Boots enjoys walks, having his coat brushed, back scratches. He does not jump up or get on furniture and will sit politely at the door to ask to go out. Boots barks when people are at/near the door, but he has never been aggressive. He loves family life and attention! He ideally he would need a stronger person to walk him, preferably with a yard. **I am offering to pay for pet insurance from Lemonade for his remaining years to the right family. **

Story
Kosta Browne is a 6 year old chocolate lab and has been a part of our family since birth. A family friend called us in the summer of 2018 to let us know her dog had puppies and we had first pick of the liter. Kosta stood out among his siblings as the only chocolate lab among the sea of black and white pups. His mom was a black lab and dad a golden retriever. Kosta has the classic traits of both breeds. His favorite exercise is playing fetch with any thing...a ball...a frisbee...even a stuffed toy. There is no tiring out this guy. He's also a great walking/running companion. But most of all, Kosta enjoys laying next to you and receiving affection. Kosta loves children. Especially if they can throw a ball. Having four children has made it very difficult to provide Kosta with the attention and affection he deserves. Kosta enjoys car rides and does well traveling long distances. We're looking for a new family for Kosta that can provide him the love and affection he deserves

Story
I was dropped off at a veterinary clinic with my sister so the breeds of mom and dad are not known. The DNA test for my sister came back as lab/chihuahua mix. Go figure. I'm a happy and active puppy. It may take a few minutes for me to get comfortable, and then I'm ready to play.

Story
Meet Bowser, a spirited goofy, bundle of joy who loves life`s simple pleasures. His playful energy is infectious, turning any ordinary day into an adventure. His goofy antics bring smiles to everyone around him. He likes toys, pets, agility, running, walks, and car rides. With other dogs he is friendly, rambunctious and respectful. He might be too much for small dogs. Bowser has a soft spot for children, engaging in easygoing, friendly play that warms the heart. Because of his size and enthusiasm we do suggest children to be about 12 or older. He`s also a cuddle bug, always ready to snuggle up and give affection but not overly needy. He`s a 70-pound lap dog and is house trained. Bowser`s bravery is unmatched, he`s not afraid to explore new places or meet new friends. Bowser is obedient and quick to learn new tricks, proving he`s not just a pretty face. He already knows sit, stay, and no.Bowser came to the shelter as a stray and has been at the shelter and in a foster home. In his foster home he lived with 2 other dogs (60lb, senior and 30lb) and was respectful with both of them. He rarely barks and has not had any accidents in the house. He is working on his leash walking but is improving greatly. He does get excited when he sees other dogs or cats. We do not think he would be good in a home with cats. He had 3-4 walks a day and let outside regularly to play in the yard. He had free roam of the house day and night even when people were not home with no problems. He`s the happiest when he`s with people who love him. He needs to live inside not outside with his people. He`s affectionate, lovable, and waiting for his forever home. Adopt Bowser and let his joy and love fill your home with happiness. For questions, please email his foster mom, Wendy, wpmarkgraf@gmail.com. (tw, wm 11/23/2024)Click `Play` to meet Bowser,This animal has been available at the shelter for more than 30 days and is now considered a VIP. The adoption fee is 50% off! -jc (12/4/24)

Story
Meet Bert, an older pup with a heart full of love. His energy is infectious, his curiosity endearing. He`s the type of dog that will turn any ordinary day into an adventure. His favorite activities are agility, running, and walks. He`s always ready to play, his excitement palpable at the sight of a new toy or a game of fetch. Yet, Bert also loves a good cuddle. He`s the perfect lap dog weighing a mere 40 pounds, his affectionate nature shining through with every wag of his tail. Despite his past, Bert remains incredibly friendly, always eager to meet new people and make friends. He may be a little jumpy, but that`s just his intense personality shining through. He`s a dog who loves life, and he`s ready to share that love with a family of his own. He`ll need some help with leash walking and house training and he`s eager to learn. Bert is always eager to make new friends, especially with other dogs whom he finds fascinating. However, his rough playful nature can sometimes be a bit too much for our feline friends. We haven`t seen him interact with children yet but his activity level might be a bit much for little ones. Adopt Bert, and let his sweet, playful spirit bring a touch of joy to your everyday life. Story
Meet Noah, a young puppy full of life and energy. His curiosity knows no bounds, and his playful nature makes every day an adventure. He`s always ready for a game of fetch or a romp in the park. This 16-pound pup has already learned the joys of running, toys, agility, chase, and wrestling. Despite his energetic personality, Noah is also incredibly sweet and cuddly. He loves nothing more than snuggling up after a long day of exploration. Noah`s easygoing nature makes him a joy to be around, but he is still a puppy and will need some training. Leash walking and house training are things he is looking forward to perfecting. His excitable spirit is ready to learn and grow with the right guidance. He has no experience with children or other dogs yet. This friendly pup is looking for a loving home where he can continue to blossom. Why should you adopt Noah? Because his boundless energy, curiosity, and love will fill your home with joy and laughter. (tw 1/23/2025)
