Story
Four-year-old Queenie rules her foster mom’s heart with sweetness and grace. The curly-coated 10-pound cutie loves snuggling and cuddling with her, resting her head on her, hiding under the covers and then dancing daintily about. Easygoing with a touch of independence, she also enjoys curling up on her foster mom’s lap or sitting contentedly by her chair on the floor. Occasionally playing with small toys and chewing bones, she especially enjoys going for long walks, expressing her joy at being out and about by the happy bounce in her step! She calmly ignores the other dogs they pass, and although she’s gentle with youngsters, older children are more Queenie’s “cup of tea.” Motivated by food and love, eager to please and to learn, she currently knows “come” and “no,” and is diligently at work on both her crate and house-training. Now all this petite queen of hearts needs is a loving home, preferably with other playful pups, and patient adopters to complete her training, including her commands, and keep that happy bounce in her step fur-ever.   Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure each pet finds the best possible home, we ask you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 48 hours (please check your spam folder for our emails). If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives!  A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you.  The adoption fee for this pet is $600. Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog.  Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for all vaccinations after adoption. Please fill out an adoption application by clicking  here . Please give us 48 hours to review your application and respond to you. (Remember to check your spam folder for our emails!) We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process! Please email dogs@arrcolorado.org for more information, as we can't accept calls.PLEASE NOTE:  The breed listed is the information we've received from the shelter.  Shelters usually guess at the breed, so there is no guarantee, as we don't DNA test our foster pets.  Here is some interesting info on breed identification:  https://arrcolorado.org/category/puppy-dog-tips/ Our adoption process is: 1. Fill out our Adoption Application online.  We'll contact you within 48 hours to answer any questions you may have about the pet. 2. If the pet looks like a great match, we'll schedule a meet and greet and ask you to fill out our online Adoption Agreement if you'd like to proceed with adopting.  Once you've completed the Adoption Agreement and pay the pet's Adoption Fee, you can arrange to pick up your new furry family member! Story
Tony's a happy little guy who's being fostered after his original owner passed away. We've helped him with some medical issues (kidney, dental extractions, ongoing spinal/back pain). It doesn't appear his previous owners walked or potty-trained him, so we've been keeping him in male wraps. He'll benefit from someone who can keep an eye on his medical issues. He also is fairly reactive (he doesn't do well on patios, for instance, due to barking at all the other dogs around) and can get bite-y, particularly when he's surprised or if he's playing with a treat/toy, so he'll need someone who's comfortable working with a dog with some behavioral issues. (Happy to provide more details if you're interested!) Most of the time though, he just wants to follow you around the house and sleep in a little doggy bed by your side. He loves to be held like a baby, and likes to flop on his back so he can get belly rubs. He's a special guy and would be great for someone wanting to dote on him.

Story
Highlights:-Needs confident, canine sibling-Needs fenced-in yardMeet Macy, a 10-pound Maltese Chihuahua Poodle mix whose journey from shyness to spunk is nothing short of inspiring. When she first arrived, Macy was very shy and nervous, but she is growing more confident every day as she learns that her new environment is safe and kind.Macy will need some time to warm up to people, but with patience and love, she will surely come around. She would greatly benefit from having a more confident dog in her new adoptive home to show her the ropes and help her build her own confidence. As she does not walk on a leash yet, a fenced yard is essential to keep her safe. This spunky little girl isn't afraid to tell you what she wants and has the cutest little elf ears that seem independent from her body, turning around like satellite dishes to take in every ounce of her environment. Macy is one of the cutest dogs you'll ever see, and her charming personality is sure to win you over. Are you ready to offer Macy the loving and patient home she needs? This adorable pup is eager to find her forever family and share her unique blend of sweetness and spunk.- - - - -Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have experienced minimal socialization. As a result, there is often an adjustment period when learning about life as a family pet. We typically do not adopt to homes with young children. Homes with older children will be considered on an individual basis. Common skills such as house training and leash walking will often take a little extra time. Patience, understanding and a gentle hand are a must. The great news is, most of these dogs come around rather quickly and being a part of their rehabilitation is an extremely rewarding experience.
