Story
This little pretty chocolate dappled girl is called Mazie and goodness what a cracker jack she is.  Don’t for minute let those green eyes and chocolate marbled coat fool you to think she is gentle or easy.  She is the CEO of dogs and will run the show at your house if given the chance.  Mazie is 30 pounds and 9 months old.  She is a breed mix of Dachshund and Basset Hound we are told.  Her pics make her look big but she is a “tiny but mighty” little girl.  Mazie is not a fan of any other female dogs in her life or around her.  We don’t know where that came from but the dislike is there so we say…don’t ignore the warning.  She is great with big male dogs, not good with other small dogs or cats, but loves people deeply and wants to be around them.  She needs a fenced yard because she is a runner as most Dachshunds can be and she needs to be able to run and play and get her energy out daily.  Older children would be better for her and she is crate trained, 90% housebroken and she adores going for walks; a very good girl on a leash we can say.  She is beautiful but a “tad” bit complicated, which is why we have outlined the Likes and Dislikes of this girl to a TEE!  We want the right and perfect home and there are lots out there that can give her that.  Tiny but Mighty little Mazie is ready for a home NOW!  Please email us at Critter Cavalry Rescue : ccrnewengland@gmail.com  Tell us where you live when you email asking for information and an application. PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.August 19, 2024, 2:03 pm

Please contact Lowell Nelson (lowelln@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.Maggie-moo! MAGGIE NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name:   Maggie      Best Guess for Breed:    Basset Hound Best Guess for Age:   2 yrs 4 months as of July 2024     Gender:    Female Approximate Weight:    34 lbs Gets Along With: Other dogs;  not sure about kids and cats yet, but we can find out!  Currently Living At: Shelter, needs a foster or forever home!  Special Adoption Considerations: Maggie  is heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs.  All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care.  After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months.  We are happy to discuss this treatment and which phase of the study this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left! Maggie is Looking For: A loving family ready to keep a big  smile on that wonderful hound face!  Maggie's up for anything--ready to run and play with you and any dogs she meets,  and relax on the couch when the playing is done.   She's ready to give sloppy basset hound kisses if you'd like to give her home!   What My Foster Says About Me: will update when she has a foster!  Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption.
