Story
DOB 5-5-2024 Gideon is a very handsome kid! He loves to play with the other little dogs, likes toys and of course attention! Gideon is up to date on all shots and medical for his age. His tail has been docked and dew claws removed but has beautiful all natural ears! When Gideon grows up he will be around 10 to 12 pounds. His adoption fee is 400.00 and his transport charge is 165.00. HEARTS is our transport service and they are wonderful! They run every other week and all delivery stops on the East Coast are on Saturday. The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an online adoption application. You can find a copy of that application here. We sometimes receive a lot of interest on an animal and can't always reply to each email in a timely manner. An application does not obligate you to adopt from us, but it does show that you are serious about the adoption process. Please remember we are all volunteers. After you submit your application please allow a few days for a volunteer to review your application. During this time your vet reference will be checked and a volunteer with determine if it is the best match for you and the animal. Applications are not approved on a first come, first serve basis. We match up the best home for the animal, so even if the pet has other applications, this does not mean he/she will be adopted to that home. Once your application has been approved a volunteer with contact you to set up a phone interview. This is the perfect time for you to ask any questions you have about the adoption process and the animal you are interested in.

Story
Gordon Ramsey prefers to be referred to as Gordie. He seeks a home where he is respected as Gordie - a home that does not desire to change him or his name. Gordie is a unique guy - and as many Chihuahuas he has had to get comfortable as a small dog in a large world. He has all of the Chihuahua insecurities in his small - admittedly not as small as it should be - body. Gordie has medical and personality challenges that should be noted. Handicaps: Gordie’s eye sight is failing him. He has cataracts and some eye inflammation that was treated on a recent visit. This has made an already unsure guy, a bit more unsure. Gordie has separation anxiety that he takes Prozac for. His anxiety presents itself as whimpering, low howling and searching for the humans. Gordie is doing much better since starting Prozac.Gordie is afraid of going down stairs - and will whimper for help. Gordie has specific rules about how you can and cannot touch him. Since his eye sight is failing, he prefers to have his name spoken, a hand put out for smelling and then you can pick him up from his side. He does not do well when startled- and will give a warning nip. His definition of startled includes when you fall asleep on the couch with him and he awakes on the couch with you. He votes one star- do not recommend. He may sit with you for a few moments, but he really prefers to have all four of his paws firmly on the ground unless you are providing him elevator service (see above for stairs). Gordie needs trazadone prior to a vet visit if the vet would like to touch him. While you and I know that doctors do things that seem mean but are to help, Gordie has not learned this. He does not understand why you are poking him and will use all of his forces to have you stop. Gordie has a cough. He has been diagnosed and recovered from kennel cough, and he has a cough that remains. He is on a weight loss plan and he did have X-rays taken to check for a heart or lung condition. Neither were present. Gordie’s cough does not bother him. Gordie’s hobbies include: Napping - as often as possible. Sunbathing - he really loves it. He even plays “dead” with his tongue out. Gordie spends much of his awake hours finding the humans. Due to his sight issues, this can result in him getting stuck behind furniture. Gordie was built without a reverse feature - so him turning around is reminiscent of an Austin Powers scene. Giving grateful, loving kisses to his foster mom. Ultimately, Gordie is looking for a home that will accept him as he is - warts and all. You must follow Gordie’s rules on how he wants to be held. He would like someone who is not out of the home for long periods, as his separation anxiety is early in management. He should not be in a home with children or another vision challenged dog (he thinks it’s very rude when his blind foster sister bumps into him, when he couldn’t see her coming…). He lives well with vision-gifted dogs. Story
Dobby is a seven month old Min Pin mix who is sitting around fifteen pounds as of right now. As with any hungry puppy, he's sure to grow a bit more! He's a lovely little guy who wants nothing more than to stick to your side like velcro. Goofiness runs in his blood and toys get him into a wild mood! He's snuggly, eager to please, and the type of pup who'll be your friend for life. It doesn't seem like he's had a whole lot of exposure to the world in his seven months of life, as he's a sensitive little guy. Other dogs scare him, the leash scares him, new people scare him, even his own shadow will give him a spook now and then. If you take the time to get on his level, give him time to feel you out, and treat him with patience and respect, he'll show you the lovable puppy he can be! His earliest years are very important in socializing him with people, places, and things, so we highly encourage any potential adopters to do so once he's acclimated to the new home. He has amazing potential and has opened up with some staff already, so time will only tell how much more he'll come out of his shell once he's found his people! As it stands, other dogs seem to make him pretty nervous, cats should be okay. Kids we ask be over twelve due to his anxious disposition. To apply, visit foreverpaws.com and click adopt to download our application. Once complete, you can email it to us at fpas1@foreverpaws.com or fax it to us at 508-677-9175.

Story
Adoption Donation   $   499               Located:    MS     (Transportation costs included to the Northeast , plz ask for more details )    Age: approx   2   years old     Weight:   lbs Dora is a sweet little girl, she loves to play with other dogs .  If you are interested in adopting me, please fill out an application on our website  www.fohari.org  and email my foster parent for more information:  friendsoha@yahoo.com Please verify the location and readiness of this dog with us.  Because we save lives from various locations through out the United States, some dogs may not be in New England yet, nor ready for immediate adoption.   Our adoption application can be found here: https://fohari.org/application/  Our Adoption Process:   Go to our website and select the animal you are interested in. ALL animals are in foster homes as we do NOT have a  shelter where you can visit. Some animals are in foster care in New England, and some are located in other states. If the initials following the animals name are a state, then that is the state where the animal is located. If initials are not a state, then those are the initials of the foster home outside of New England and you will not be able to meet the animal ahead of time. Complete our online application You will be contacted by phone or email by the foster parent  or a member of our adoption team and will have the opportunity to find out more about the animal, and ask any questions that you have to ensure the animal is a good fit for your household. If the animal is local, you can meet the animal, but you would not be able to take the dog home until you are approved to adopt. If you feel comfortable that the animal is a good fit for your home, at this point, you would submit a sum of $200 as a partial payment of the adoption fee as we process your application. From our end, we will check references and schedule a home visit. If you are not approved to adopt, any payment sent to us would be promptly returned in full. At this point, we will remove the animal from our adoption sites and hold the animal for you while we check your references. If you live in an apartment, or a condo, we will need to verify permission to own the animal from your landlord or condo board. Please let your vet’s office and references know we will be contacting them. If your  references are positive, we will schedule a home visit by a volunteer. Please try to accommodate the home visit volunteer as most  have busy schedules. Delays in the visit will result in a delay in the adoption. Once you are approved, you will receive an e-mail with your  adoption contract attached. This e-mail will have details about pick up, the balance of the adoption fee that is owed, etc. Please email your signed & witnessed contract and pay your adoption fee in full, and for any animals located out of state, you will be contacted for details about transport to New England. Once you have paid your adoption fee in full and sent back your contract, you can make arrangement to pick up your animal from the foster home or from transport depending on where the animal is located. Please bring a harness, collar, ID tag and leash when you are picking up the dog unless otherwise instructed by the foster parent. Our extensive approval process is intended to ensure the best fit between our animals and adopters. Friends of Homeless Animals (FOHA) reserves the right to deny any adoption application with or without disclosure of cause.
