Story
Tommy is a 1-2 year old, 15lb Poodle.  Tommy is from Mexico.  Once he was rescued he was groomed, and fully vetted by a wonderful rescue in Mexico.  He was then transferred to us because his rescuers knew he could find a wonderful forever family in CO.   Tommy has now been in CO a couple weeks and is totalyl ready to find his forever family.  Tommy is a sweet boy.  He gets along great with other dogs and all people.  He is in a foster home with lot of other dogs, cats, and humans.  He does find cats fun to chase, so his forever home might be best without a cat, unless they know how to tolerate a dog constantly trying to play with them.  Simon loves to follow his foster Momma around the house all the time.  He is an incredibly snuggly little man and would prefer to sleep with his people in bed (probably as the little spoon).  For being a young pup who was found on the streets on Mexico he is pretty perfect.  He is truly such a great little guy.  Tommy will need regular grooming appointments since he is a non-shedding dog. Story
Meet Rosco! This adorable 3-year-old Miniature Poodle/Cocker Spaniel mix is eagerly waiting to find his forever family. With his happy, bouncy personality and a perfect petite size of around 18 pounds, Rosco is irresistibly cute, especially with his charmingly big noggin! Rosco is making great progress with basic commands and has already mastered "sit." He's housetrained and uses the doggie door like a pro. On a leash, Rosco is very manageable and is learning to stay by his handler's side. He loves long walks, prancing along, and enjoying the sights and smells of the great outdoors. Rosco gets along wonderfully with dogs of all sizes in his foster home. He loves to run and play and even thinks he's one of the big dogs. Rosco is a vocal fellow who enjoys singing with the husky in his foster home, and he is always alert and ready to notify you of any approaching visitors. Rosco loves treats, playing with toys, and snuggling up for ear scratches and belly rubs. His joyful wiggles and bows when he's happy to see you are heart-melting, and he loves being close to his people. Rosco thrives with leadership, structure, and routine. He will do best in a home with adults only or with kids who can provide these elements and hold him accountable. An ideal home for Rosco would be one without shared walls. Regular grooming is a must for Rosco, but no worries—he’s a star client! He willingly participates in brushing sessions, knowing they'll make him look his best. He is up to date on vaccinations, neutered, and microchipped. Rosco can't wait to meet his forever family. Apply today to bring this charming boy home! Adoption fee includes the following: Spay/Neuter Rabies Vaccination Distemper / Parvo Vaccines (includes series of 3 for puppies) Bordetella Microchip with prepaid lifetime registration Deworming ##2084758##

Story
UPDATE 4-21-24: Check out Remy's new video on our SummitDogRescue.org website! https://www.summitdogrescue.org/meet-remy.html - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Meet Remy! He is, according to his DNA, a mix of Poodle, Chihuahua, Pomeranian, Pekingese, Papillion and Rat Terrier (with maybe a touch of American Eskimo). Chihuahua and Poodle are his dominant breeds (over 25% each), and then the others are splattered in there. Despite his size, he would love an active lifestyle. This adorable little guy needs a patient, loving and calm home in order to live his best life! We suspect he was abused at some level as he has some trauma around being handled. He was adopted out but is being returned due to his handling issues, and he just isn't a right fit for his current home. Remy did great living with multiple dogs in his foster home and seems to really like dogs. He has lived with a cat and did okay, but it should be a fairly confident cat. Remy is 16 lbs. of cuteness. He's young, neutered and up to date on his vaccines. We suspect that his time before coming to rescue was not so great... He's easily startled by quick hand movements and will need people who are very conscious when petting him. He'll need a special adopter to go slowly and continue to help him feel safe. We think he'd love a quieter house, maybe with a dog or dog-savvy kitty who can hang out with him and help him learn that life is good, and that no one is going to hurt him ever again, nor will anyone force him to do anything. He doesn't like being picked up, and he doesn't feel comfortable at the veterinarian. This will take time, commitment and giving him confidence (please Google "cooperative care" to learn more). All that being said, despite being low in confidence, Remy loves being outside and going on sniff walks and exploring trails. We actually think this little guy would love to live in a rural setting and just run free on a farm, hiking and exploring trails, chasing squirrels, etc. but he could do well in suburbia with a large yard! Applicants will need to work with our behavior team to learn how to work with him and help him gain confidence (his human needs to be very open to learning!). This is included in his adoption fee of $125. For more info and/or to apply to adopt Remy, send us an email at SummitDogRescue@gmail.com, telling us a bit about yourself, your home environment and your lifestyle. A volunteer will get back to you as soon as they can. Thanks.

Story
This pup was originally rescued from a commercial breeding facility. They were on their euthanasia list as they were unable to be sold and was "taking up space". Another local rescue stepped in and rescued dozens of dogs scheduled for euthanasia, but did not have enough space for all of them, so a few were transferred into our care. We have been able to provide them with vet care and get them ready to be adopted.   We have no additional back story or update for this dog at this time.  When we do, it will be updated here.  This is all the information we have currently. Approved Applicants may make the adoption fee payment by clicking donate above.  Partial adoption fees will not hold a dog. Dogs adopted with our rescue come with FREE training from #GoodPup to help you build strong bonds from the start! If upon meeting the dog of your choosing at your scheduled pickup time you find that you aren't a good match, your deposit will be fully refunded. Adoption fees include vaccines up until time of adoption, microchip, spay/neuter and 1st 30 days of free Pet insurance.  We are not affiliated with Pet First pet insurance. (you have to sign up for the insurance or it will not go into effect).  Adoption fees help cover the medical care of the animals while he or she waits for a new home, as well as food and transportation costs. These fees help to provide care for the other animals in the shelter or rescue group who may have medical bills that are much higher than any possible adoption fee. The money also acts as a donation to help support the organization as a whole, allowing the group to continue its efforts to rescue and rehome pets. The dogs in our care are fostered in Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico.  While all dogs are picked up during our scheduled times, sometimes transport dates change due to unforeseen circumstances.   More questions?  Read our FAQs here: https://4p4l.org/faqs/  ##2135580##
