Story
Please contact Darlene at 302-312-5129 (fureverpawsdogrescue@gmail.com) for more information about this pet.  This dog is located in Newark, DE. Visit us on the web at https://fur-everpaws.com/fur-ever-paws-adoption-application/ to submit an application. Please contact the foster directly at 302-312-5129 (text or call) or via email at fureverpawsdogrescue@gmail.com Fur Ever Paws Dog Rescue is a small no kill rescue operating in the Delaware/Maryland area. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit that rescues and places homeless, neglected or abused dogs from high-kill shelters in the south into loving, responsible committed and permanent homes. We feel our comprehensive adoption process which includes not only taking the time to match the dog to the prospective new owner but helping to educate that owner in responsible dog care, allows us to find the best homes for our little buddies and the best companions for you! Each week we use USDA certified transports to bring dogs from high-kill shelters in the south to our fosters where they all receive the appropriate medical care and are placed in nurturing loving homes while they await placement in their forever homes. Interested in one of our dogs? Great! Now that you've seen them here you'll need to go to our website where you'll find our list of adoptable dogs (updated every week). Then, it's just a simple process of finding a dog you're interested in and filling out an application on our site. Once we receive your application, whoever is fostering that particular dog will contact you and do a short over the phone interview to complete your application process. If everything works out, they will set an appointment with you so come out and "visit" with the dog you're interested in (we want to make sure that not only are you a good fit for the dog but that the dog will fit with you). If everything works out, you'll be able to take rover (or spot, or jax) home with you that very day. A couple of things you should know: We can't hold dogs over the phone or via email. Adoption fees vary based on breed. All of our dogs have been vet checked and dewormed (if possible due to age, additional treatment may be needed). We provide a spay or neuter voucher to all of our adopters. &#226&#128&#139 March 17, 2025, 3:38 pm

Adoptions must be about within a reasonable commute from Wilmington, DE for our volunteers to be able to conduct an in-person home visit Meet Blackberry! Blackberry is a 10-year-old, 10 lb mini Poodle mix who was surrendered by his owner. He had been sadly neglected and it was time for a new beginning. Blackberry was brought into our care and immediately received a sedated shave and was neutered. It was discovered that one of his eyes was missing, and the other one was so damaged, it had to be removed. Although Blackberry is deaf as well as blind, he doesn’t miss a trick. This amazing pup can wake from a sound sleep, sniff his way across the room, and jump on the sofa to find his foster mom eating cereal without him! Blackberry is very close to being housebroken. He will wear diapers, but only if he needs to be alone for several hours. When he is kept on a schedule, he remains accident free! Blackberry can’t do stairs, but very quickly learned where the front door is and how to step down out of the house. Blackberry doesn’t require any monthly prescription medications but will take Trazadone on occasion when he needs to be alone for several hours to avoid separation anxiety. Due to being both blind and deaf, he would be happiest to have an owner who is home most of the time. He likes to know his people are near and will cry out if he feels lost. Blackberry gets along well with other dogs but doesn’t like cats. He would do best in an adult-only home or one with dog savvy children that are aware of his special needs. Blackberry walks on a leash but tends to criss cross and would be happier with a fenced-in yard. Blackberry is a super sweet pup who enjoys greeting people. He loves to have his belly rubbed, get picked up, and enjoys lots of cuddles. He happily sleeps in bed with his foster mom and is a certified couch potato. If you need an adorable, furry friend to keep you company and make you smile, please apply today!!

Max is a 15-year-old, 12 lb., Poodle mix who was surrendered when his owner’s health declined. Max was in good health and only required a dental and neuter. He has good vision and hearing and is fully potty trained. Max gets along well with other dogs and older children. He walks well on a leash and has no trouble with stairs. Max is a more independent dog. He loves being with people but isn’t into cuddling.  Max is a happy pup who enjoys going for walks and exploring the yard. He loves to be part of the family, but won’t require your attention every minute of the day. If you want a low-maintenance dog, please apply today!

Story
Silverado is being fostered in PA. I am a silver mini poodle that was born on 11/9/2024. I was born blind, but I do not know that. I go by the name of River because I go with the flow of life. Being blind has not stopped me from playing, running in the backyard, and learning how to go up and down stairs. Toys, did someone say toys? "I love toys!" I love everyone I meet, 4-legged and 2-legged, with a wagging wiggly butt. Snuggling is one of my favorite things to do, on laps, on the couch..... well just about anywhere. I would do well in a home with a confident, gentle dog that can help me adjust to my furever home. Older children will be ok but little kids will scare me. I sleep in my crate at night. I am quiet for 6-8 hours then I need to go out to pee and pooh. Then I go right back into my crate and sleep till my Foster Mom says it is time to get up and play with my foster sister. I have a gorgeous coat that will require regular grooming. I do not mind being left alone as long as I am safely in my crate. I am a quiet guy. I only have accidents when my Foster Mom is busy and not paying attention to me. "Hey, I am standing by the backdoor. Got to go out.” I am also working on walking on a leash. It is a work in progress. I am UTD on all vaccines. So, I am ready to find my furever home. I promise to love you with all my heart. So, if I sound like you could love me forever, please apply to adopt me. BDRA has voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately.
