Story
Hi, my name is Georgie.  I’m a fabulous little miniature poodle who is 7 years old, and I weigh 17 lbs.  I’m an awesome little guy who is used to being the center of attention.  I lived with my mom and dad, and then they got divorced so it was just mom and me.  She doted on me; I was too strong when she walked me so she got me a stroller – or carriage, as I prefer to call it.  She took such good care of me, but I got to be too much for her so she let Critter Cavalry Rescue find a foster home for me while I wait for my new forever home. I love my foster mom, but I have to share the attention with 4 other dogs and I do NOT like that at all (and they’re not too happy at me being here).  I’d love to find a couple in their 50’s or 60’s with no other dogs who would make me the center of their universe. I’m ok with older children occasionally, but would prefer a house with just adults.  I’m not being picky (well yes I am); I don’t ever want to go through the loss of my human again.  I know lots of tricks and would love to show you how smart I am.  I can shake hands, high five, lie down, roll over, and stand up and dance.  I am house trained, but will use a pad if I get desperate.  I prefer that you go outside with me and stay with me, or else I will just come inside with you; I need a fenced in back yard so I can do the zoomies outside.  I LOVE to go for walks, and walk well on a leash.  I was a picky eater when I first arrived, but after 3 days I was eating well.  I need to go to the groomer frequently, and need a new family that can afford to take care of me.  After all, I think I am a prince.  I like to be on the couch and sleep in the bed with you.  I demand petting, and will let you know when I’m unhappy.  I hope you have cried and then laughed at what I had to say, and you are now ready to apply to be my true forever family.  I’m neutered and am current on all my shots, heartworm negative and microchipped.  To be considered to be my forever family and to request an adoption application please contact Vivienne at viviennejames@comcast.net.  APPROVED APPLICATION AND ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED.  (I am currently in Tennessee but can be transported to my forever family upon adoption.)              March 20, 2025, 5:39 pm

Story
This handsome Miniature Poodle boy is called Wrigley and he is a young 3 year old, 14 pound sweetheart looking for a home.  His life started off with a breeder and he was purchased as a Christmas gift for young children who soon grew tired of the novelty puppy.  They were supposed to take care of him and the parents were not willing to pick up the slack for his care.  The solution was to put this poor 14 pound boy outside on a tie out in the cold elements of Winter.  A neighbor grew so concerned about him and asked if they would give him up to a rescue.  They fortunately agreed and soon this handsome Poodle was in the right hands that could change his life.  He needed to be neutered and it has been done with all other vetting.  Wrigley is a happy boy despite the lack of love and past care.  He seems to have been unfazed that he spent time alone outside and not receiving the real love and snuggles that he so freely gives now to his foster mom. He is back to working on being housebroken due to the tie-out time he spent outside but is crate trained and we have groomed him just before neutering him.  He has a whole new life ahead of him and we have polished him up to look as dapper as he could before leaving for a new forever home. If you have been looking for a young Poodle to rescue and love then this is a rare opportunity to get a fully vetted boy with no hidden issues or fears.  He is fine with other dogs, cats and gets along great with everyone he meets. Wrigley was wonderful to the children in the first home even though they did not appreciate him. This treasure is just waiting for a miracle family to love him.  Could that be you?  He is in Tennessee and we transport northward almost every weekend.  Please write to Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com if you are interested.   PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.March 14, 2025, 8:28 pm

Story
And yet another case of lack of spay/neuter leading to a huge overpopulation nightmare 🤯 These 4 poodle mixes were surrendered to us today locally. Their owner took in 4 year old mom Leah not knowing she was pregnant. They never took her or her puppies to the vet, and then her daughter got pregnant and had puppies, plus Leah and had another litter with her own grandson before realizing they should separate the male… some puppies were given away also unvetted and unaltered, and now here we are, with 4 unvetted, unsocialized matted dogs who have never been out of their former home. They were terrified by their first ever car ride and arrived covered in drool and vomit, barking and screaming at anyone approaching them. Once separated they all start to warm up and are sweet dogs, just scared and need time to adjust to the new world outside the only home they ever knew. All 4 went right to our vet for “the works” - shots, preventative, ear infections treated, mats shaved, and most importantly SPAY AND NEUTER to make sure there will be no more homeless dogs being created from this situation. They will be moving into foster homes to decompress and get to know their individual needs. Because of their lack of socialization and pack mentality from growing up with no structure or training, we will be placing them SEPARATELY from each other, but like most nervous dogs from breeding and hoarding situations, they may do best in homes with another friendly dog to help them adjust. We aren’t sure of their breed mix exactly, they look like some sort of poodle/mini doodle with maybe some wiry terrier, all about 15lbs full grown and aged 1-4 years old. They do NOT appear to have hypoallergenic coats and likely will shed. Email njwoof@cs.com for an application if you would like to meet one of these little ones when ready. Right now Leah, Nola, Gordy, and Nala are at our vets at Country Willow Veterinary Hospital getting their first ever vet exams and medical needs taken care of. Taking 4 dogs at once is a huge undertaking, on top of several other small dogs we have already committed to this week. Your donations toward these 4 are greatly appreciated and will help us continue to break the cycle of backyard breeding and neglect in our local communities Since COVID-19, we are no longer holding our Sunday adoption events until further notice, but we are scheduling meet and greet appointments with a specific dog or dogs at our meeting spots in Northern NJ. To streamline adoptions, all communication before, during, and after the adoption process is done through email only: we have limited volunteers able to return phone calls. Submit an application from our website www.secondchance.petfinder.com to speed up the adoption process and email any questions to us at njwoof@cs.com. Please check your email regularly for next steps. All our dogs reside in foster care in Northern NJ until adoption and we do not have a central shelter location. We are a small all-volunteer organization focused on rescuing local dogs from area shelters, as well as accepting some surrenders and puppy mill rescues.

Story
Meet Nola! She was the most matted of our recent group of intakes so unfortunately got the ugliest hair cut, but it will grow back and she will one day be cute and scruffy again. This 1 year old was undersocialized and never left the house or went to the vet before coming to us so she’s nervous and skittish at first but sweet once she’s warms up. She loves and follows other dogs and definitely needs a home with another doggie friend in the household to help her adjust. She’s 15lbs and some kind of poodle/scruffy terrier mix, tall and lean with long legs. She’s lower shed but probably not completely “hypoallergenic”, has been spayed and updated on shots and is ready for a home. Email njwoof@cs.com to meet Nola in Northern NJ Since COVID-19, we are no longer holding our Sunday adoption events until further notice, but we are scheduling meet and greet appointments with a specific dog or dogs at our meeting spots in Northern NJ.
