Story
Meet Kevin.... What a sweet little guy... *** Pics is before and after grooming Kevin and 2 brothers were recently pulled from a puppy mill in Wisconsin. The females were sold to pet stores, but the males were not. This is very typical for pet stores. They cherry pick thru litters and only take " The best sellers". That could be based on looks, breed, sex, size etc... We have no problem taking the " least sellers". Kevin is a 18 week old male Mini Goldendoodle. He is considered low shedding. Most people with allergies due well with this breed cross. We estimate his full growth weight to be around 15 - 20 pounds. Kevin is very sweet, but is nervous and shy when meeting new people. Typical mill behavior, he will come around quickly in foster while being handled often. Kevin is very comfortable around other dogs and he plays like crazy with them. Using a wee wee pad for potty training. Being fostered in Rockland County NY Send an email to Onepawatatimerescue@gmail.com and request an application *** That's the only way to get an application Adoption fee is $950 We adopt in the Tri State Area ONLY NY, NJ, PA, CT, MA, MD, RI, NH, VT, DE

Story
Sir Jeffie’s Backstory: Sir Jeffie was taken into an overcrowded animal control facility where they euthanize due to lack of space. Animal Saints Rescue Society was asked to get him out safely to give him a second chance at life. Breed and Hair Notes: Jeffie has hair and not fur. He appears to be a Poodle and Shih Tzu. Perhaps another breed is represented as well? What do you see? PLEASE NOTE: Jeffie’s hair will grow indefinitely, and he will need professional grooming every 4-8 weeks. Only apply if you understand the additional maintenance and cost that these dear hair-not-fur souls need and are willing to commit to life for such care. Get to Know Jeffie: Age: 1 Weight: 14 pounds Neutered: yes Current Vaccines and Tests: Rabies vaccine: yes Distemper vaccine: yes Bordetella vaccine: yes Flea and tick prevention: yes Heartworm test: yes, negative De-wormer treatment: yes Additional Care: Grooming: Jeffie was just de-matted and groomed. He was very sweet and patient about being groomed. He is very much in need of attention, and he was grateful to be getting a lot of it. Potty routine: Jeffie goes potty on pads in the sanctuary as well as goes outside during playtime. To get him settled into a routine based on your schedule and direction for where to go potty, you’ll need to keep him in a designated place with potty pads initially. Personality: Jeffie is very much in need of a person. When he is with our volunteers, he is more interested in them than the other dogs. He asks to get picked up so he can give and receive hugs. Jeffie is young, but he has a gentleness about him that is endearing. He is one of the quieter fosters in our sanctuary at present, and he seems to hang out with the older dogs in the group. He can certainly play with the more exuberant and youthful here, but he is finished playing when the others still continue. He starts to look for the humans again so he can get another hug. Jeffie’s most endearing quality is that he loves to dance. Any chance he gets, he will dance and walk about on his back legs! What Jeffie needs in his lifetime family. Is it you? Routine and Training Jeffie’s youth makes him in ideal student for positive reinforcement training classes. He is very sensitive and eager to please. Jeffie could be okay as an only dog in a home, provided he could meet dog friends nearby often. do see Jeffie enjoy the company of other dogs and sleeps in the same bed with other fosters here in our sanctuary. If you need to be gone for a few hours every day, having other dogs to cuddle with would be very good for him. Jeffie loves to run about in the sanctuary’s back garden, and we can see him loving walks. His youth is in want of exercise. Jeffie will be best in a home where there are older, respectful children and experienced adults, ready to guide a young dog into adulthood. Love and Commitment At Animal Saints Rescue Society, our goal is to keep dogs out of overcapacity animal control facilities and out of a re-homing cycle. We place the dogs we save into lifetime families. With this in mind, we seek families who understand that an adoption is a lifetime commitment. The families who adopt from us believe that love is not a feeling, it is a decision. Some humans still believe it’s okay to try out a dog for a few weeks, a few months, or even a few years — then discard when they get bored or don’t want to deal with emotional or physical ailments. We are looking for the empathetic, kind, and patient humans in this world who view these Animal Saints as family, and they will do whatever it takes to give them what they need. Will that family be you? We look forward to finding out and receiving your application! Requested adoption donation fee is a minimum of $650. This is to partly cover his medical expenses that our 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal rescue incurred to give him a second chance at life.

Story
Meet Shaggy - an affectionate, friendly, gentle, and playful senior dog! This happy boy is a snuggle bug who enjoys spending his days lounging around, going on nice walks, playing with his favourite toys, and eating frozen food-stuffed Kongs. Despite his cataracts, Shaggy gets around just fine and can jump on couches and beds with minor assistance. He is crate-trained but prefers to spend his time with his people or his foster dog siblings. He even gets along with cats! Shaggy is housebroken, uses a pee pad, and is crate-trained. He already knows basic commands like "sit" and "shake" and can be left free in the house as he doesn't destroy things. He is also very food-motivated and always comes running when he hears the sound of a treat! At 11 years old, Shaggy is an easy-going and low-maintenance senior dog who is just looking for a loving home where he can spend his golden years. He has so much love and affection to give and will provide endless snuggles and companionship. If you think you can give Shaggy the loving home he deserves, please submit an adoption application today. Let's find this sweet boy his forever home! Shaggy weighs about 29 pounds. Update: Our vet has determined Shaggy has food allergies and is doing great on a prescription diet which has been helping with his skin and fur allergies/sensitivity. He is itching much less. He is currently getting monthly cytopoint shots while his skin is healing. Shaggy also was seen by an eye specialist and it was determined that, although he would be able to undergo anesthesia, he has an additional eye issue that would keep him from having successful cataract procedure. *Please note we currently have two dogs with similar names. Please refer to this dog as Shaggy#2 when filling out your application or emailing to avoid any confusions or delays in processing.* We do NOT ship our animals. All adoptive families must travel to us to meet their adoptive dog/cat. Applicants must live within a 2 hour radius from Sparta/Andover (07871/07821). Please understand that we are an animal shelter and thus unable to say whether the dogs are housebroken as they are not in homes. Story
Mason is an adorable 13lbs mini poodle who actually smiles 😃! Yes, he’s not showing his teeth to scare us there, it’s actually a happy submissive grin he does for attention. He’s timid but also warming up, follows the other dogs wagging his tail, and is going to be a great little best friend for someone with some patience to get him used to a real home, housebreaking, leash-walking, etc. He’s probably been used to father hundreds of designer doodle and poo mixes in his 5 years in the mill, but other than a bad ear infection seemed to escape in pretty good health. Since COVID-19, we are no longer holding our Sunday adoption events until further notice, but we are scheduling meet and greet appointments with a specific dog or dogs at our meeting spots in Northern NJ. To streamline adoptions, all communication before, during, and after the adoption process is done through email only: we have limited volunteers able to return phone calls. Submit an application from our website www.secondchance.petfinder.com to speed up the adoption process and email any questions to us at njwoof@cs.com. Please check your email regularly for next steps. All our dogs reside in foster care in Northern NJ until adoption and we do not have a central shelter location. We are a small all-volunteer organization focused on rescuing local dogs from area shelters, as well as accepting some surrenders and puppy mill rescues.
