Story
My name is Winona! I am one of seven puppies in my litter! I am a female and I was born on 5/1/24. My mom is a 12 lb Pekingese mix. Right now I am just over 5 lbs. We have no idea what my dad is but guessing some type of terrier. I have a curly tail! I am all new. I am crate-trained, working on housebreaking and will need lots of love and positive experiences in my new home. I will also need a little bit of leash work as I I haven't had much experience on one. My day consists of eating, playing, sleeping and repeat! I am good with all but have not been exposed to very young children. Here is a link if you are interested in me! https://asecondchanceforziva.org/adopt/adoption-process-application/

Story
ALL our cats and dogs are in the NY area but can be adopted out of state to the purrfect furever home.  In some cases, we can help transport.  Zani's al fresco Summer Adoptions  follow us on FB to find us this summer as we will try new locations to meet the needs of NYC and support the little stores:)     Meet Winnie from Egypt. When we first found Winnie, a 1.5-year-old male dog, the sight was heartbreaking. He was dragging his back legs along the harsh streets, desperately trying to fend for himself. Examination at the clinic revealed that Winnie had suffered a severe blow to his back, leaving him unable to walk properly. Despite the physical trauma, his spirit remained unbroken. Winnie's gentle and loving nature quickly became apparent as we got to know him. He greeted everyone with a wagging tail and an eagerness to play, showing an incredible resilience that belied his physical condition. His high energy and playful demeanor brought joy to those around him. Winnie quickly made friends with people and other dogs, though he sometimes barked at cats with a curious, playful spark. His full control over his toilet habits demonstrated his determination to maintain his dignity despite his challenges. Winnie deserves a loving home where he can continue to thrive and share his boundless affection. Zanisfurryfriends.org       All dogs are located in NY/NJ area All our puppies need puppy play dates/doggy facetime so we recommend homes with other pups or daily interactions to keep them tired out, happy and social.     Facebook: Zani's Furry Friends ZFF (weekly adoption event info posted there) Twitter: zanisff  Instagram: zanisfurryfriends   Dogs are spayed/neutered, UTD on age appropriate vaccines, Rabies vaxed, and microchipped (not Lyme vaxed but we seriously recommend it!)  All are in the NY/NJ area but we will adopt out of state to the purrfect home and in some cases, we can arrange transport.  Please go to our site  https://zanisfurryfriends.org  fill out an application  Many of us (cats/dogs) will be on display on Saturdays or Sundays, weather dependent--please ask by writing us at dogs@zanisfurryfriends.org and following us on FB. If you are seriously interested in adopting one of us in particular, please fill out an application early Friday so that we can be sure to be there. Otherwise we decide based on other variables. Usually we are in our foster homes so this is a bit more stressful and a slightly artificial environment but we do want to be seen and find our furever homes too.   Please consider providing a home for more than one dog, especially if you are considering adopting a puppy. Dogs are pack animals and very much enjoy as well as need other dog company to learn to play, socialize and be good companion animals to people. The upside to this is that you won't feel as guilty leaving them alone and you get twice the love. Please come! And if you can't adopt, maybe you can foster or volunteer, and you can always donate! If you want to know about cats/dogs specifically being shown at our adoption locations, please email us info@zanisfurryfriends.org closer to the date so we know your interest and will make every effort to have that pet at the event or let you know how and where you can meet.  It is extemely helpful and speeds up adoption if the application is filled out prior to visiting us so please do that before coming to our weekend events. Our weekend locations are: Saturdays or Sundays, weather dependent  Follow us on FB, Zani's Furry Friends ZFF, for latest updates. Usually we are in our foster homes so all this is a bit more stressful but we do want to be seen and find our furever homes. Please come! And if you can't adopt, maybe you can foster or volunteer. And you can always donate:) Cats and Dogs are spayed/neutered, UTD w/ all age appropriate shots and microchipped. Cats are feline combo tested for FIV/FeLV; dogs are heartworm tested and rabies vax'd, (NOT lyme vaxed but we seriously recommend it); rabbits are spayed/neutered. Please fill out an application and email to: For Cats: cats@zanisfurryfriends.org For Dogs: dogs@zanisfurryfriends.org For Rabbits: nyc.acc.rabbits@gmail.com. Please visit our website zanisfurryfriends.org.

Story
PLEASE READ BELOW FOR OUR ADOPTION APPLICATION LINK MEET SPAULDING the PEKINGESE!!! North New Jersey Spaulding is a 2 year old, 18 lb. male black and white parti CKC Registered Pekingese with the coolest tail that flips black-white from side to side! This little guy is SUPER sweet and he LOVES being with his people and giving hugs and kissies. He is VERY playful with toys and other pups. He can be rambunctious and would do well with a furry playmate of equal size and strength. He is a very good listener and knows some commands. He is housebroken and looks to his person for guidance. He knows the routine in the home well. He was bought as a puppy into a home with three young children. Unfortunately, now that he is bigger he does not appreciate being man-handled by small kids and he has bite history with the kids in the home (not his fault!). Thus, Spaulding needs a kid-free home (no young kids living or visiting--teenagers and up ok) where he can continue to thrive. In his foster home he has been the sweetest most well-behaved little guy. He was wonderful at the groomer and at the vet. He loves everyone he meets and promptly jumps in your lap and gives kissies. Spaulding has been brought UTD, neutered, chipped, dewormed, he is HW and Lyme negative, had allergy testing, and is housebroken. He also knows how to use potty pads if they are available. He is allergic to chicken and doing well on a lamb-based kibble. He will go home with a bag of his kibble. Given his high energy level, a fenced in yard is required as is another fur sibling he can romp with. He really enjoys playing and hanging out with his fur friends and does well having another doggie friend (or more) to hang out with. He happens to do extremely well with Bodie who is also for adoption. Breed experience is preferred and will be prioritized (or similar brachycephalic breeds). Adoption donation is $550. TO BE CONSIDERED, PLEASE FILL OUT OUR ADOPTION APPLICATION We only process complete applications and providing false information immediately disqualifies you from adopting. https://gingerbreaddogs.org/adopt-overview/adoption-application/ Please follow our Facebook page to see new dogs as they arrive and to keep up on the daily shenanigans: https://www.facebook.com/gingerbreaddogs ABOUT OUR PROCESS: WE ONLY CONTACT APPLICANTS WITH WHOM WE WANT TO MOVE FORWARD. We typically get in touch within 24-48 hours, but it may take up to 10 days. Please watch your email and answer your phone (from 201 area code) after you submit an application. Unfortunately, we do not have the manpower to reply to all applicants. We also do not have the manpower to accept phone calls. Everything we know about the dog is posted above. Our adoption process is on our website. You can see more about our daily operations on our Facebook page. PLEASE give your vet office permission to speak with rescues if you are applying to adopt from any rescue. Ask them to mark your file. If they will not speak with us, we will move on to the next application and you will not be considered. We consider out-of-area adoptions on a case-by-case basis. All meet & greets and adoptions are held in north New Jersey, and we do not transport our pups. You must come to NJ. We also do not “hold” dogs. It is “first qualified, first come” and our expectation is you will move quickly to conduct the meet & greet if you are approved. An approved application does not guarantee adoption of any dog from our rescue, and we reserve the right to deny adoption at any point during the process.

Story
PLEASE READ BELOW FOR OUR ADOPTION APPLICATION LINK NORTH NEW JERSEY Teddy is the sweetest little cream and tan Pekingese boy. He is 13 pounds and probably around 8 years old. He is extremely affectionate with his humans and loves to give you kisses! He is a super chill guy that loves to lounge around and sun himself by the window. Teddy lived with Harvey (also available, see pic above) and they can go home together or individually. Teddy is pretty low key and just does his own thing most of the day. He does get excited and does a little happy dance when he comes back into the house after roaming around the yard. He can be an only dog since his humans are his priority but he can live with other small breed pups (and other Pekes of course). He loves going for walks or would love a fenced in yard to meander around. Tweenagers and up please. Extensive vetting has been done and he is in excellent health. He does have dry eyes and very early glaucoma so he is on eye drops for both. He also arrived at the shelter with horrible ear infections that we have been treating. Due to the lack of care of his eyes and ears, his vision and hearing are not perfect but he gets around just fine and they seem to be improving now that he is getting what he needs medically.
