Gizmo is a very sweet little boy, however he does not like children due to them tormenting him in his previous home. He has the typical Pekingese personality and we require an adopter familiar with the breed. He would do great as the only dog in the household. He had food and resource guarding issues in the shelter, but we found that not to be problematic in our care. He is just a typical Pekingese. A sensitive breed with a strong personality. We think he is an exceptional little boy that any lover of this breed would adore. A quiet home with someone there most of the time that wants a constant loyal companion and who understands and loves this breed of dog is the best home for Giz. All potential adopters must fill out applications and be approved before meeting the pet they are interested in adopting. To adopt one of the precious lives that we have saved, this rescue requires an approved application, a suitable home environment, a signed adoption contract, and an adoption fee. If approved to adopt, we expect applicants to pick up their new pets in person at the pet's foster location. PLEASE READ BELOW FOR OUR ADOPTION APPLICATION LINK NORTH NEW JERSEY Teddy is the sweetest little cream and tan Pekingese boy. He is 13 pounds and probably around 8 years old. He is extremely affectionate with his humans and loves to give you kisses! He is a super chill guy that loves to lounge around and sun himself by the window. Teddy lived with Harvey (also available, see pic above) and they can go home together or individually. Teddy is pretty low key and just does his own thing most of the day. He does get excited and does a little happy dance when he comes back into the house after roaming around the yard. He can be an only dog since his humans are his priority but he can live with other small breed pups (and other Pekes of course). He loves going for walks or would love a fenced in yard to meander around. Tweenagers and up please. Extensive vetting has been done and he is in excellent health. He does have dry eyes and very early glaucoma so he is on eye drops for both. He also arrived at the shelter with horrible ear infections that we have been treating. Due to the lack of care of his eyes and ears, his vision and hearing are not perfect but he gets around just fine and they seem to be improving now that he is getting what he needs medically. PLEASE READ BELOW FOR OUR ADOPTION APPLICATION LINK MEET SPAULDING the PEKINGESE!!! North New Jersey Spaulding is a 2 year old, 18 lb. male black and white parti CKC Registered Pekingese with the coolest tail that flips black-white from side to side! This little guy is SUPER sweet and he LOVES being with his people and giving hugs and kissies. He is VERY playful with toys and other pups. He can be rambunctious and would do well with a furry playmate of equal size and strength. He is a very good listener and knows some commands. He is housebroken and looks to his person for guidance. He knows the routine in the home well. He was bought as a puppy into a home with three young children. Unfortunately, now that he is bigger he does not appreciate being man-handled by small kids and he has bite history with the kids in the home (not his fault!). Thus, Spaulding needs a kid-free home (no young kids living or visiting--teenagers and up ok) where he can continue to thrive. In his foster home he has been the sweetest most well-behaved little guy. He was wonderful at the groomer and at the vet. He loves everyone he meets and promptly jumps in your lap and gives kissies. Spaulding has been brought UTD, neutered, chipped, dewormed, he is HW and Lyme negative, had allergy testing, and is housebroken. He also knows how to use potty pads if they are available. He is allergic to chicken and doing well on a lamb-based kibble. He will go home with a bag of his kibble. Given his high energy level, a fenced in yard is required as is another fur sibling he can romp with. He really enjoys playing and hanging out with his fur friends and does well having another doggie friend (or more) to hang out with. He happens to do extremely well with Bodie who is also for adoption. Breed experience is preferred and will be prioritized (or similar brachycephalic breeds). Adoption donation is $550. Story

Fifi is a 2–4-year-old, 10–15 lb female chihuahua/pekingese mix from Mexico who has adjusted well to life in the suburbs. This sweet girl loves snuggles, belly rubs, and giving kisses—especially on your arms! She’s smart, affectionate, and loves being close to her people. Fifi has even shown off some impressive jumping skills! Fifi is making great progress with obedience training and already understands “sit.” She’s working on her leash skills and improving every day—she’s a quick learner and eager to please. She’s doing well with potty training, using wee pads and also going outside. Fifi hasn’t shown any signs of separation anxiety and hasn’t been destructive at all. She’s happy to relax at home and loves curling up with her foster family for cozy downtime. Fifi would thrive in a medium to active household where she can enjoy both playtime and relaxation. She’s fine with other dogs but would likely be happiest as the center of attention in a solo-dog home. However, she’s not a fan of cats, so a feline-free home is best. Her future family will need to continue reinforcing the progress she’s made with training and confidence-building. Preferred if fosters reside within the 5 boroughs of NYC.
