Story

I adopted my Sadie in April and she has been a great companion. She likes to sleep a lot as she is a sweet senior but she likes to take short walks on the leash or play in a fully enclosed yard. She can not be off leash when outside or she tends to wander off and not come back on her own. She is good with other pets as long as they are not overly active etc because she prefers a quieter environment. She also does well with children as long as they respect her space. The only reason I have to find her a new home is that my family and I recently became homeless and we are having trouble finding somewhere to stay with her. I don't want to take her to the shelter unless it’s my last option. I am hopeful I will find a great home for her soon. I’m open to someone fostering her as well. Meet Vaughn - an introverted extrovert in canine form... this handsome boy is sweet and playful with the reserved disposition that middle age brings. A pup that LOVES his walks, but only half as much as he loves his naps. In the home, Vaughn is a complete gentleman - housebroken, crate trained, and knows all of his basic commands. A little shadow that will happily watch over his family. A tad shy when meeting new people, he warms up quickly. When excited, however, he tends to be a little mouthier than most in his play style. Because of this, we recommend a home with older children or a home with no children at all. Vaughn likes dogs, but can be selective. He has no problem sharing his food with his humans, but can guard his food bowl and treats from other dogs. Because of this, we think he would be best as an only dog or with a family that can manage feeding him separately. As for cats... the Plott Hound in him would love to chase them all up a tree. Say hello to Loki! This sweet boy was recently returned to us after his former family unfortunately did not have enough time for him. Loki is a major sweetheart who is ready to play play play! He is a bit shy around new people but is easy to warm up with snacks and a ready-to-play attitude. He would do best in a home with no young kids. He loves to snuggle on blankets and spend time outside. Loki is eager to learn and is currently working on his leash training. He knows how to shake hands and sit! Loki enjoys playing with other pups but does best when fed separately. He would thrive in an active home with a yard for him to run and play games in! Please call WCHS to set up an appointment if you are interested in meeting with him.**- Intake Reason: surrendered, owner was moving; Adopted for 2 weeks & returned due to not being good with cat- Weight: 54 lbs.Known with:· Cats: Not good, will chase · Dogs: lived with female APBT, does well in WCHS playgroups· Kids: previously lived with 9 & 11 yr old· Personality: energetic & LOVES to playHi there, my name is T-Bone and I am 60 pounds of exuberance and fun. I was adopted from WCHS as a puppy and lived with a family for about a year. I lived with a couple of kiddos and another pooch and was having a grand time. Unfortunately, my humans had to move and I could not go with them so I am in the market for a new home. I must confess that in my previous home I was a bit remiss in learning some basic manners, so I think it would be lovely if we could take a class or two. That way I could brush up on my social skills. I am a cheerful and lively guy who would love to be your constant companion so I would like to be welcome wherever we go. I am also still working on getting to 100% in the house-training department, so when I get to my new home, I hope we can set up a routine and give me plenty of opportunities to go outside. Lots of yummy treats and praise whenever I use the outside facilities will surely help me master that skill. I do know how to ‘sit' on cue and accept rewards more gently if you remind me to be ‘easy'. I enjoy going for walks but will need some practice so I do not pull so much. I get so happy exploring and sniffing that I just want to go, go, go and run all over the place. I must have some bird-dog in my ancestry because I do enjoy chasing birds. As soon as I get close, they always fly away and I do not think that is playing fair, but it is a jolly good time to run after them. Although I was comfortable in a crate when I was alone in the house, I had the luxury of sleeping in my person's bed at night; that was wonderful because we could snuggle all night long. I am an affectionate lad who is a lap-lover; tender scratches and cuddles are super nice. I am an amiable, playful and outgoing boy who enjoys making new friends; maybe you will be my new BFF.
