He came to the shelter needing a little extra time to warm up to people, as he is naturally a bit cautious around new faces. Though he may take a little while to build trust, Rye has a lot of love to give once he feels comfortable in his surroundings. With patience and understanding, Rye will slowly open up, revealing his affectionate and loyal side. His shy demeanor doesn’t reflect his true potential as a loving companion, but rather his need for a calm environment where he can feel safe and secure. Rye’s ideal home would be with an experienced dog owner who can provide him the time and space he needs to build trust at his own pace.

Ash is a big happy guy who is easy to love. He may be 8 years old, but you wouldn't know it. He loves to play with other dogs (he gets along great with my own dog and my fosters). He greets us enthusiastically every morning when we get up and every time we come home. On walks, he's a little pokey because there's always a lot to sniff. He plays hard with other dogs both in the house and in the yard, but he also likes to sunbathe in the yard. He's a big guy and his beautiful brindled coat improves a little every day. In our home, he's thriving, and he makes us feel well appreciated. He's well-mannered and housetrained.

Vaughn is our longest term pup - an introverted extrovert that came to us almost three years ago in VERY rough shape. When he arrived he was skin and bones and terrified of the world. He would guard his food from other dogs and wouldn't let strangers approach him. With a lot of patience and work - this boy has made a complete turnaround! Vaughn is still a little shy with strangers, but after a quick sniff and a treat he's your best friend. In the home, this 70 pound pup thinks he's a lap dog and is always trying to curl up next to you. He currently lives with multiple small dogs and is doing very well - but will definitely chase a cat if given the opportunity (that's the hound in him). He loves to play with other dogs... but prefers calmer personalities that won't try to bully him. Vaughn is sweet and playful with the reserved disposition that middle age brings. A pup that LOVES his walks, but only half as much as he loves his naps. He's got a smidge of cattle dog in him as well and tends to be a bit mouthier and will herd his friends when he plays so an adult only home or a home with kids over 12 would be ideal. But fate smiled upon me, and a kind-hearted man and his family came to my rescue, sparing me from the freezing cold. I'll be honest; I'm a sensitive soul. Loud voices and sudden noises tend to rattle me, but let me tell you, once I've warmed up to you, I'm a different dog entirely. I'll shower you with kisses and share my whole heart. You see, I'm not just pretty on the outside; I'm smart and gentle, too. What I need most is a patient family willing to give me the time and space to settle into my new home. Trust me; I have so much love to give. In my foster home, they've discovered a side of me that shines when I play with their Big Great Pyrenees. We're like a couple of kids, playing hide and seek, and chasing each other around. I'm also a sunbather at heart, so outdoor lounging in the sun is a favorite pastime of mine. Now, here's the thing: I'm not a fan of long car rides, and I can get a little nervous. But if you speak to me gently and reassure me, I'll find my courage. Leash walks can be a bit tricky too, but with your patience and encouragement, I'm willing to give it a try. In the evenings, I like to cozy up in bed with my humans, though I don't demand it. I just love to be near the ones who care for me. I'm on the lookout for a forever home, a place where I'll be cherished and appreciated just as much as I have been in my foster family.
