Meet Ryan, a sweet 4-year-old, 60-pound Pointer mix with a heart full of love! Ryan’s journey hasn’t been easy—he was at a Missouri shelter in July, facing euthanasia due to painful hip issues. We stepped in and brought him into rescue. Ryan had Femoral Head Ostectomies on both hips. The ball and neck of his femur were removed. Now, he’s pain-free and ready to live his best life! His muscles have formed a “false joint,” and he can do everything a normal dog can do! Though his DNA is likely a mix of many breeds, Ryan’s appearance screams Pointer, with a short, soft, and fluffy coat that’s as cuddly as his personality. Ryan is great with other dogs, especially the ladies, and he absolutely adores people. His favorite spot is his dog bed, where you’ll often find him sleeping on his back with all four paws in the air—too cute! He still thinks he fits perfectly in a lap and loves to cuddle up with his human friends. Ryan also enjoys walks and car rides, and above all, he simply wants to be with his people. Ryan would thrive in a home with a securely fenced yard where he can run, play, and enjoy life to the fullest. So Arika is an unusual name, right?? Well, yes it is!! It actually means "ruler of ALL" and I identify with that feeling :D OK, I am not the ruler of all, but I am the ruler of ALL my friends! We have kind of a democratic system set up...... I tell them what to do and they LISTEN and they do what they want! So, that is the level of my "ruler-ness". However, I have a lot more to offer than just rules and regulations.... I HAVE LOVE! You see, I know love and I know despair...my daughter Mika and I were found on the streets, eating trash and anything we could get our faces on.... until the day that a "street feeder/rescuer" found us. From that day forward we had HOPE... And here we are in the rescue and thriving! I rule all my friends and we are now just waiting for our furever homes. I am a big girl, kind of deceivingly... I don't look that big but weigh in over 70# I am great with other dogs- big and small, as long as they want to play and hang out, I am down with that... My bestest home would be with another playful dog and kids please :) So I am here waiting, and RULING, and waiting for you to find me! I will let you in on a little secret too... Welcome to rescue, Boo! Boo was born in March 2024. He is an English Pointer/Great Dane mix, a typical playful puppy in a big boy body. He also would like to be a lap dog! Boo is good with other people and dogs. He loves to play and he loves to cuddle! He is doing well at his foster home and is just waiting until he is adopted and can go to his forever home. Boo will need a home with a taller privacy fence. We'll share updates and more information as we learn more about him! The suggested adoption donation for Boo is $465, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months. If the dog or cat you adopt is older than 6 months of age and not spayed or neutered, you will receive a voucher to alter the pet at Val Verde Animal Hospital in Omaha, at no cost to you. Or you can alter the pet at your own vet and be reimbursed $100 for dogs, and $50 for cats, of total cost. If the dog or cat is younger than 6 months of age, adopter will be responsible for the cost of altering the pet at the vet of their choice. If proof of alter is received by Muddy Paws prior to the pet turning 6 months of age, a reimbursement of $100 for dogs and $50 for cats, will be sent to you to help cover expenses. All puppies and kittens MUST be spayed or neutered by 6 months of age. All dogs and cats MUST be spayed or neutered no later than one month after adoption is finalized.
