Story
Rose is a vibrant, high-energy dog who came to us as a stray and is now ready to find her forever family! She absolutely loves to run and play outside, especially when it comes to a fun game of fetch. If you're looking for an active, adventure-loving companion, Rose is your girl! While she might take a little time to warm up to new people, once she does, Rose is all about affection and will shower you with love. She came in with another dog, but a meet-and-greet will be required to ensure a good fit with any other dogs in the home. Rose’s adoption fee covers her vaccines, microchip, and spay. If you’re ready to bring this sweet, energetic girl into your home and offer her the love and adventures she craves, Rose might just be the perfect fit!

Story
Opal is a loving girl who came to us as a stray, and although she may be a bit wary of new people at first, it doesn't take long for her to warm up and show you just how affectionate she can be. Once she bonds, Opal becomes a total love bug who just wants to be close to her humans! Opal loves running around outside and having fun in the yard, but she’s developed quite the escape artist skills, so she’ll need a secure, fenced yard to keep her safe and entertained. A large yard where she can stretch her legs would be ideal for this active girl. Although Opal came to us with another dog, she’s fairly independent and would need a meet and greet to ensure she’s a good fit with other dogs in the home. She enjoys the company of others but also loves her alone time. Opal’s adoption fee covers her vaccines, microchip, and spay, so she’s all set to start her new life with you! If you’re looking for a sweet, independent dog who enjoys a good run and is ready to be your loyal companion, Opal might be the one for you. Come meet her today – she’s ready to find her forever home!

HOW TO ADOPT: This pet is available for adoption by appointment. To schedule a time to meet this pet, please email fosterinquiry@arl-iowa.org.---- Gentle, calm and kind; likes to be covered with a blanket when it's cold and will nudge your hand for pets - Foster family said she has been good in the house and tends to sleep when they're not home - Likes stuffed bones - Has been calm on car rides - New environments can be a lot for her to handle, especially at first, so she's looking for a family who will be patient as she acclimates and who will continue to work with her on socialization; will also do best with supervision when outdoors until she feels comfortable - Can be unsure of new people, particularly men, and does best with patience and slow introductions - Foster family said she is potty-pad trained but will need some patience learning that outdoors is the preferred place to potty - Does best on relaxed, slow-paced walks when it's not too busy outside; loves to sniff everything but tends to be cautious, especially around lots of different noises - Has not been around many kids while in our care, but was nervous around a school-age child she met in her foster home (mature home recommended) - Seems to really like other dogs; likes to be in their faces with lots of sniffs and kisses, which can be too much for some dogs, so slow intros with patient dogs tend to work out best - Overall a sweet soul who seems to have been through a lot; give her a few weeks to open up and she'll be a wonderful, loving companion - Tested heartworm positive and has received an initial treatment. She'll need a second treatment and then a recheck to make sure she's in the clear. All treatment phases will be completed at the ARL at no additional cost to the adopter. She will also need to be kept fairly calm until treatment is complete (more info at ARL) All adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and DA2PPV as appropriate for their age)The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label. Primary Color: Tan Weight: 63 Age: 8yrs 4mths 0wks

Story
When I was born, I assure you I didn't want to grow up to be left in a high kill shelter, however, that is what happened to me. LUCKILY, the fates (and some awesome rescue folks) aligned and saved me from certain death and brought me to a safe place where I can find a REAL family and a REAL home. Let me tell you about myself, I am cute, happy, loving, nervous at times, but have the long legs of a pointer! I have lots of energy for running, jumping and playing and I have the handsome chiseled jaw that most actors would love to have! Now if you need a great looking chap, look my way!!! ADOPT...........DON'T SHOP!!! My LIFE depends on it!!! LOcal adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area)
