Story
Our pretty little girl is called Cora and what a loving and sweet little Pointer mix girl she truly is.  She loves playing with other dogs and sleeping in the bed with her foster mom.  This little girl was one of 8 puppies left in an outdoor pen and basically abandoned by the former owner when they loved.  Neighbors stopped by for 3 months to feed and water the puppies and sadly that was all.  They grew and grew and eventually started fighting over the little food they had and the small pen was just so confining. One of the great Critter Cavalry Rescue foster moms heard of their plight and went to get them out of their hot, and confining pen that offered no exercise and not enough food daily…and NO HUMAN LOVE.  Now Cora and her siblings are seeking homes where they can spread their wings and bask in the love and care of their new families.  Cora is remarkably loving and fun and seems to not have been emotionally stunted by their early months of growing up abandoned.  We know that she loves other dogs!  She plays with a 45 pound black lab male that is a year old and “Her and Bo are like two peas in a pod”.  They absolutely love playing together, tug of war, chasing each other in the yard, or just sleeping in the dog bed together.  Cora is good with cats and loves the young children that are in the home, even with all their noise and high energy play.  She is almost there with her potty training and she is good with being in the crate at times needed.  Cora relates to people and loves them.  She always needs to be right by someone and loves to lay on your feet. She has learned not to be possessive of her good or toys as she first started out being.  We totally understood the possessiveness and now she is relaxed and eager to share.  This pretty girl and her siblings have come such a long way.  We are so happy for them to be in out foster care and receiving the love that they so readily deserve.  If you really want to adopt a “rescued dog” then Cora is the total definition of a rescued puppy! If you are interested in making her your own please email us at ccrnewengland@gmail.com!!! PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.August 19, 2024, 8:06 am

Story
Sometimes in the rescue world our stories about a dog we are presenting for a home just kind of leaves us a little speechless for adequate words. This boy that we call “Good Friend Charlie” is one of those deep and touching stories that we know only God had a hand in making come true as he was rescued. His foster mom Rachel calls him “a dream dog!”  But when she stumbled upon him hanging out on her countryside property where she raises chickens and geese and many other dogs that belong to her…she was not so sure of his friendly intentions.  We believe Charles was dumped in her area where he roamed for approximately 3 months, many attempting to catch him but failing as he was smart and elusive.  He roamed onto foster mom, Rachel’s property and within 2 days came out of survival mode (he would bark and bark at her while she was outside tending to her geese and chickens) and when she offered him a blanket one night as he laid in her flowerbed all curled up in 10 degree weather, he soon came back into domesticated mode the next morning.  Because of being abandoned, Good Friend Charlie has some separation anxiety and will need you to be patient while you earn his trust that he won’t be abandoned again and that you will come back for him when you leave.  This boy loves all other animals; dogs, cats, geese, chickens and he loves people of all ages.  He is only 3 years of age and weighs 50 pounds.  We think the grey on his face might be from early stress in his life.  Maybe from uncertainty that he has felt in whatever former life he lived. Good Friend Charlie is well-trained and knows how to sit, stay, lay down, off and wait. He even waits for permission to exit the door and waits for you to tell him he can eat his food.  He does well on a leash but he prefers to roam on his own and rarely will go more than 4 feet from you. This special dog would be wonderful for someone that does live on some acreage and just wants an indoor and outdoor companion and who is working from home or just retired and kicking back in their life.  He loves to ride in the car shotgun style in the passenger seat and he is a homebody’s best friend.  Charlie knows exactly what he wants and will alert you with a few barks to let you know he wants to go outside, or his water bowl is empty, or even when he is ready for bedtime and he is house trained.  He does have some jealousy if you are giving attention to other animals but he is easily corrected and gets better daily as he learns more about coexisting in this new home environment.  He takes to correction like a champ!  If you really want to adopt a dog that is the definition of “Man’s Best Friend” then Good Friend Charlie is your dog for a lifetime.  Please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com to ask about an adoption application. Story
Meet Dottie Dottie is 52 lbs of pure love! We think she is a Pointer mix, and at little more than 7 months (her DOB was 10-25-23) she is already a large dog. Despite her young age, she is crate-trained, housebroken, and knows some basic commands (sit, off, leave it, let's go, off, go to bed). Dottie was one of a litter of six puppies born to a stray in MIssissippi. She's currently being fostered in Collingswood, NJ, which is where meet & greets will take place prior to adoption. Dottie is very affectionate, absolutely loves to be petted, and still thinks she is a lap-sized puppy! She's very smart, curious, and playful. When she's not rough-housing with other dogs at her foster home, she is learning manners and impulse control. Like most puppies, she still benefits from a nap during the day, needs frequent potty breaks, is getting used to loose-leash walking, and is learning to love car rides, too.  Her perfect family will have time to spend playing with, and to continue socializing and training Dottie. A fur-sib or two, and/or human children would be nice but not essential. As long as she gets plenty of daily exercise and attention, she will be a very happy dog. Due to her size, a securely fenced yard is required. Continued use of a crate is highly recommended! Exercise and activity needs: Moderate Shedding amount: Moderate Grooming needs: Low; occasional bath and nail trim Reaction to new people: Friendly, curious Good with dogs Good with cats Good with people; MUST supervise with young children   Please email us at AlmostHome4Dogs@yahoo.com for more info or an application. (Local adoptions preferred — Philadelphia and tri-state area [South Jersey and northern Delaware] only.) NOTE: Most puppies do best in the company of an older dog who can teach them "doggy manners," so homes with at least one other dog usually will be given preference in puppy adoptions. Please read Suzanne Clothier's wonderful article, "It Takes a Pack to Raise a Puppy!" PLEASE READ BEFORE CONTACTING US! We are NOT a shelter: All of our dogs live in private homes with foster families. Come and meet the Almost Home dogs and their fosters at our Meet & Greet events, where you can learn more about our wonderful dogs from the people who live with them, find out which dogs are on their way and when they’ll arrive, and fill out an application to adopt or foster. We cannot adopt to homes where electric-shock fencing systems or training collars are used. For more information on the dangers of electric-shock collars, please visit banshockcollars.ca/studies.php . We do not have an online adoption application; to request an application, e-mail us atAlmostHome4Dogs@yahoo.com. To speed e-mail processing time, be sure to note the name of the dog you are inquiring about in the Subject line. For Meet & Greet times and locations, visit our home page, where you also will find information on our adoption process and fees. FOSTER FAMILIES ARE LIFESAVERS!! Can you open your heart and home for a few weeks to homeless shelter dog? Remember, by fostering a dog, you save TWO lives — that of your foster dog, and that of the dog who takes his place in the shelter! Come to a Meet & Greet and find out if fostering is for you — there's no reward quite like the feeling that you've saved a life ... or two!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 18, 2024, 11:11 pm

Story
And the gold medal for cutest scruffy face goes to......Simone! We are hosting our own Olympics here and granted our dogs are less athletically gifted, but still total winners in our eyes. Simone is an approx 3-4 mth old scruffy medium to large breed mix. She gives us some sort of wirehaired pointer mix type vibes, but of course that is all a best guess. Simone and her brother Ned, available for adoption separately, were found as strays and were fostered temporarily by their finder while trying to secure transport and rescue for them. They were in a foster home with other dogs and some cats. They are curious about cats and bark at them, so would need slow introductions but we think could learn to live peacefully with cats. Simone loves other dogs and would likely do best with an outgoing and playful canine sibling. She is a typically puppy who will need work on housebreaking and basic manners. She would do best with an adopter with the time and resources to dedicate to training, socializing and exercising her to help her become her best self. She loves people, although is a touch shy for the first few minutes. It doesn't take much to win her over though. Her adoption fee includes her spay, vaccinations to date and microchipping. She is also up to date on deworming and preventatives. Interested? Please go to https://www.dogtownrescue.org/online-adoption-application to complete an online application. An approved application and appointment are required to meet any of our dogs. Dog Town Rescue 1553 Bethlehem Pike Hatfield PA 19440 PA Kennel license #12275
