Story
Hi Everyone! My name is Roxy and I am 9 years old. Listen, don’t let my age fool you because I LOVE to walk, go in the car, and take adventures if you are up for it. I am housebroken, pretty polite on a leash, and will cuddle once I get to know you. Sometimes I like my space for a nap or some alone time, but who doesn’t? Am I right?! I would really love a home to call my own, and I promise to be a good girl. If you would like to meet me, please call Christina at 973-668-7208

Story
Introducing Hank, a handsome 1-year-old Rhodesian Ridgeback weighing about 57 lbs, ready to charm his way into your heart. Hank is set to arrive from Kentucky to New Jersey soon in search of his forever home. Rhodesian Ridgebacks, known for their striking appearance and loyal nature, are cherished for their affectionate temperament, athleticism, and protective instincts. Hank embodies these qualities perfectly—he's not just a stunning dog to look at but also a loving companion who enjoys the company of other dogs and likely children too (though he hasn't yet been tested with cats). Hank is also neutered and up to date on all age appropriate vaccines. Hank is looking forward to exploring new surroundings, going on adventures, and of course, snuggling up with his forever family. His playful spirit and gentle demeanor make him an ideal fit for an active household ready to give him the love and attention he deserves. He also gets along great with other dogs, so he wouldn't mind any playmates. If you're ready to welcome a devoted companion like Hank into your life, consider applying to adopt him through Peace4Paws at https://peace4paws.org/adoption-application. Hank can't wait to meet you and show you what a wonderful addition he can be to your family. If you have specific adoption or foster questions, please email: judy.atchison@yahoo.com THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN RESCUING A DOG! Story
Meet Reeko - read what his foster mom has to say about him.  Reeko came from a Logan's Heroes shelter partner in Alabama. He was adopted last summer and is now back, to no fault of his own. His estimated date of birth is November 11th, 2022. Reeko appears to be a Rhodesian Ridgeback with possibly some border collie and boxer. He has a pretty cool "ridge" on his neck and part of his head. He is about 55 pounds, and at this point, is full-grown. Reeko is an energetic and intelligent dog who would do best with an active person or family who is willing to exercise him mentally and physically. He loves hikes and would make an amazing adventure partner. Reeko currently has a fenced-in yard at his foster home, but he was trained with an invisible fence. He will need either a fenced yard or an invisible fence as he is very used to being able to run in and out as he pleases, get some energy out, and use the bathroom off leash. Reeko is crate-trained, leash-trained, and house-broken. His crate is his safe area and he has no problems with sleeping in it overnight. He is crated when left alone but he does not show any signs of being destructive and does not have issues with separation anxiety. He is very well-behaved in the home and eager to please. He knows a variety of tricks and would make a great dog for someone looking to enroll in various dog sports and activities. Unfortunately, Reeko was not very well socialized with strangers for the majority of his life, so he can be anxious around new people, but will warm up with time and patience. He barks at strangers and is very on edge. New people interactions need to be very slow in order to allow him to process. Reeko does not tend to bark at people in public areas. He focuses on his foster mom and does not react to outside stimuli. We do not allow strangers to pet or approach Reeko in public to make sure that he feels safe and confident in his surroundings. At home, Reeko has the tendency to try to herd unwanted guests out of his space. He is working on correcting that in his foster home and is responding well. Reeko has shown some resource guarding tendencies with objects he finds high value. He is very hit or miss with this, does not happen often, but he occasionally will growl if he claims something as his. He will respond to a correction and has never gone further than a growl. He has been tossed around so much in his short life that he is very confused about what is right and wrong. As he grows comfortable in his foster home, and with some help from a professional trainer, this bad habit seems to have improved. Any potential adopter will need to be aware that Reeko will likely need more follow-up training in his new home in order to adjust properly. Reeko is somewhat selective over new dogs in his life. He tends to prefer male dogs smaller than him or any female dog but does seem to warm up to any dog after a proper introduction. He is very playful with energetic dogs but will respect an older dog that is not interested in playing. Reeko has not been around cats in the home. He is exposed to an outdoor cat at his foster home but he does not pay him any attention. No small children for Reeko, dog savvy kids 12 and up is a requirement for him. Because of the likelihood of past trauma and his breed characteristics, he would thrive with an experienced dog owner and would not be a good fit for a first-time dog family. Rhodesian ridgeback experience is a big plus. Once comfortable, Reeko is very affectionate and absolutely adores belly rubs, snuggling, and has a very playful, goofy personality. He has so much love to give and will be an amazing, loyal companion for someone who is willing to work with him. Reeko is neutered, up to date with vaccines and microchipped. His adoption fee is $50.00. If you are interested in adopting Reeko, please visit our website www.LHARinc.org go to Adopt and complete the dog adoption application.
