Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please contact SSRR (Adoptions@southernstatesrescuedrottweilers.org) for more information about this pet. Mae is a cutie patootie in need of a home. An adorable "Pocket Rott", two years old and full grown at just 65lbs, Mae is small for a Rottweiler. Her small size is an advantage because she insists she is a lap dog. Mae has had a rough life of neglect and starvation, but she is a trooper. She has recovered from every kind of intestinal parasite that a dog can get infected with in the US. Her teeth are better described as ground off nubs. She is food motivated and tries to steal what she can reach. She likes being close by to people, almost to the point that she has a fear of abandonment, but she does very well in a crate (long crate times were necessary during her treatments and recoveries). Mae is responding well to training, but still thinks her puppy eyes will get her excused for theft attempts. She does well on a leash except when there are leaves blowing in the wind for her to chase. She may be full grown, but she still has puppy manners. Like all Rottweilers she will need continuous training, attention, and exercise. Despite early health issues and her small stature, Mae is a strong puller. She has grip strength enough to play tug, loves to chase balls and frisbees, and likes big toys. Despite her teeth, where it comes to toys, she is a super chewer. Mae is cat and dog friendly (her foster home has both), after an appropriate adjustment. She is ready to show off full puppy energy and shower a family with love.
