Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please contact SSRR (Adoptions@southernstatesrescuedrottweilers.org) for more information about this pet.                      Jake's favorite place is by your side, or at least in the same room you are in. He loves cuddles and will work for affection (or treats!). He adapts well to change and picks up on household rules pretty quickly. He loves to chew, but keeps his interests to appropriate things to chew. His favorite is beef cheek rolls! He loves playing tug or with other dogs in the household. He isn’t so great with fetch, but he is getting there. He doesn't want to relinquish the toy, but will let you take it from him. Jake is good with cats that are indifferent or good with dogs. If the cat swats any time he gets in proximity, Jake will bark at the cat until redirected. He has not been around children, but we anticipate his morning puppy energy might knock a child down. Jake loves everyone and has offered every person he has met so far, a Rottie lean. He is learning that his choices have consequences. The current one he is working through is coming out of the crate and not jumping up beside you for attention. He is understanding that the best way to receive attention isn't the high excited jumping, but instead, a sit. Jake still doesn't know what to do with his "first thing in the morning" puppy energy though, so the sit is usually pretty wiggly. He has less energy than we are used to in a 1-year-old Rottie, possibly because of being a Parvo survivor, but that just means that it is easier to satisfy his exercise needs.    A Typical Day in the Life of Jake: The alarm goes off. Jake waits a few minutes to see if his foster mom as actually going to wake up. If she doesn’t, he whines in the crate for about 10 minutes. He sits before the crate door is opened. He is still working on duration with an open crate door and release, so the release is pretty quickl. Excitement! Jumping up next to foster mom, then remembering his manners and sitting. He gets a quick pet before going outside. Next up he has about 30 minutes of play outside and potty time. He goes back in and has about 15 - 30 minutes of cuddle time. Next, he sits and waits patiently for breakfast which is 1.5 - 2c of food in his crate. After breakfast he usually takes a 2-3 hour nap in whichever room foster mom is working in. Some days, Jake goes on a 2-3 mile walk in the woods. Others he goes to class. On these days he is generally pretty chill the rest of the day. If he doesn't exercise his mind or body, he usually has about 2 more sessions of zoomies and/or wanting to play a day. Dinner is another 1.5 - 2c. After dinner, he wants to cuddle up with you on the couch or in bed and watch TV. His last bout of play is usually around 9:00pm. After that, he is usually asleep for the night. When humans are ready for bed, throw a few treats into the crate and Jake will kennel up for night, without a cue.    Upon approval to adopt, you will be sent SSRR Decompression and Introduction requirements that we require ALL of our adopters to follow . Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please contact SSRR (Adoptions@southernstatesrescuedrottweilers.org) for more information about this pet.                      Ross is an energetic boy who is estimated to be about 2-3 years old and was picked up as a stray.  He weighs about 70 pounds and is dog friendly.  He loves to run and play with his foster brother, who is a large Rottweiler, and is very gentle with his foster sisters, who are about 50 pounds.  We aren’t sure how he is with little dogs.  We don’t know much about his history, but he is easily frightened, especially with unfamiliar/new situations and is inclined to move away when he is approached or is uncomfortable.  If he initiates contact with you, he will lean against you and loves pets and scratches.  He seems to want love and attention but doesn’t know how to ask for it (or trust that he will receive it).  He doesn’t know many commands (we are working on sit and come) and is somewhat motivated by treats.  His food disappears quickly and he likes to hide his toys in his crate.  He is okay on a leash and likes to run and play when he is comfortable – he is a very fast runner.  With time and patience, he is learning that humans can be loving and trusted.  He would do best in a home with no small children or cats and would enjoy the company of another dog.  His owner should be prepared to be patient and gentle with Ross as he continues to build trust.  The result will be a wonderful companion.
Hi future family, my name is Dottie - or Dottie the Rottie as my foster family likes to say! The shelter who found me as a stray called me Sweet Cheeks which is a name that describes me to a T. My favorite thing in the world is being next to my humans, snuggled with them on the couch. I also love snacks and naps. I know basic commands, am crate trained and completely house broken - so basically the perfect dog :) I love to prance and run around outside with my silly long legs as well as play fetch and occasionally chase the neighbor’s car along the fence. On a rare occasion I’ll even use my big girl bark, but I promise only to do so when you need to know about something important like an intruder... or a pesky cyclist! I currently have 3 older brothers at my foster family’s home and I love to play with them, though I’m told I play a little rough so my foster family thinks I should either be an only dog or be with a dog that is more submissive / unreactive. My perfect home would be a place where my family gives me lots of attention and affection because I too have lots of love to give. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please contact SSRR (Adoptions@southernstatesrescuedrottweilers.org) for more information about this pet.                      Baby Nyx is a five-year-old Rottweiler/herding dog mix with long, fluffy hair.  Her fluffy coat is not typical of a Rottweiler and will require regular baths and grooming.  She is good with other dogs, men, women, and children (cats are unknown).   Baby Nyx can be timid in new situations and needs slow introductions to new people.  She is kennel trained, knows basic commands and walks well on a leash.  She enjoys playing with toys and chasing tennis balls.  She is food motivated.   Baby Nyx listens well and enjoys hanging out with her people.  She started out extremely timid when she came to us continues to open up to her foster family and those around her. She can still be a little timid from time to time but is a completely different dog than the girl that first came into SSRR. She's a gentle soul who likes hanging out with her Rottweiler foster sister and meeting other dogs. She 'goes to work' every day. Assisting her foster mom with work by hanging out in the office with her. She likes walks and toys but really LOVES bounding around the yard with her sister dog's flat football. She takes treats well and loves it when you throw them to her. She knows basic commands though she likes to pretend she doesn't know 'down'. Baby Nyx will need an experienced owner with patience to continue working on her timidness through regular socialization with other people and dogs.  She is a gentle sweetheart of a dog.   Upon approval to adopt, you will be sent SSRR Decompression and Introduction requirements that we require ALL of our adopters to follow . His love for toys knows no bounds, especially if they come with a good squeak! Currently living happily with his foster brothers and sister, Kane is a social butterfly who thrives on companionship. He's mastered the art of being housebroken and is diligently working on his manners both indoors and on a leash. While he's making progress, Kane's interactions with cats require supervision, so he might not be the best fit for a feline-filled home. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please contact SSRR (Adoptions@southernstatesrescuedrottweilers.org) for more information about this pet.                      Gia is loyal and sweet to those who allow her time to develop trust. She’s shy and wary of strangers at first, but once she warms up to you, she’ll be your loyal friend for life and constant shadow. Gia is a senior lady with plenty of love and life to give her family. As expected with her age, she also has arthritis which means that she can’t take as long a walk as her heart desires. And, her vision isn’t as sharp in dark or low light situations which means she’ll be a little cautious entering new places or meeting new people. Gia is a sweet, affectionate and gentle dog. She has a calm and relaxed demeanor. She loves to snuggle with her human on the couch as she winds down for the evening.  And…she’ll do anything for a hotdog or a tasty chicken treat, or anything off your plate, really. Gia enjoys dinner time with gusto! And, if you like taking scenic car rides, she would love to be your co-pilot. She is a well-behaved traveler. Gia would do best in a home with someone who has experience caring for senior dogs with arthritis, and who is willing to give her the extra patience and time it takes to earn her trust and respect her boundaries. She does best with gentle, patient correction - Gia is intelligent and likes to have input on her life’s decision. She would be happiest as the only dog or with a calm, well-behaved canine companion. She loves children and would do best in a home with considerate, older children. It would be great if her new family had a low-stress, quiet environment with minimal stairs, and plenty of comfortable places for her to rest. Gia is a special dog who deserves to live out her golden years with a loving family. If you’re looking for a low key companion who is always ready to take leisurely strolls and Sunday drives in the country, Gia is the girl for you! Story
Introducing Reyna, the regal and affectionate Rottweiler mix who lives up to her name as the Queen of the Good Girls. Reyna is ready to reign supreme in her forever home, surrounded by love and care. Reyna's journey began when she was found on the highway, abandoned and in desperate need of help. Despite her challenging start in life, Reyna's resilience and loving nature shone through. She captured the hearts of those who discovered her, and her transformation began. This beautiful girl is a Rottweiler mix, displaying the distinctive markings and strong physique of her breed. While her exact mix may be a mystery, her gentle and loving demeanor sets her apart as a special companion. Reyna is best suited to a home with older kids who can understand and respect her needs. Although she is a sweetheart, her size and strength may be better suited to older children who can handle her with care. She is not compatible with cats, so a feline-free household is necessary. When it comes to her fellow canines, Reyna prefers larger dogs. A meet-and-greet is recommended to ensure compatibility and a harmonious living environment, however she can go to a family out of town who either has no others or an easy going dog. Reyna thrives on positive interactions and socialization, making her a wonderful companion for those with existing canine family members. This majestic girl is crate-trained and does not experience separation anxiety. She is comfortable spending time in her crate and will appreciate having a safe and cozy space to call her own. Reyna has already learned the simple trick of sitting for treats, showcasing her intelligence and willingness to please. Reyna has a list of favorite things that bring her joy. She relishes car rides, delighting in the wind blowing through her fur as she accompanies her family on their adventures. Rolling in the grass and exploring the neighborhood during walks are among her cherished pastimes. Reyna loves running and exercising her energetic nature, so an active lifestyle is essential for her well-being. When it's time to unwind, Reyna appreciates soft blankets and toys that provide comfort and entertainment. She adores spending time with her beloved humans, soaking up their affection and companionship. Reyna is a loyal and devoted companion, always ready to be by your side. While Reyna has her preferences, there are a couple of dislikes to note. She is not fond of cats, and water is not her favorite element. Understanding and respecting these preferences will help ensure a harmonious home environment for Reyna. Reyna's story is one of resilience and triumph over adversity. From her initial discovery, where she was found dumped on the highway, to her miraculous transformation into a loving and gentle soul, she has shown incredible strength and a capacity for love. If you're searching for a royal canine companion, Reyna is waiting to be crowned the queen of your heart and home. With her regal presence, gentle nature, and unwavering loyalty, she will bring immeasurable joy to your life. Welcome Reyna into your family, and let her reign over a lifetime of love, happiness, and adventures by your side. Hi, I'm Kesha! I am a classy Rottweiler looking for my forever family! Now let me tell you a little about myself.... I was found out on the streets, skinny and sad with these HUGE marks all around my muzzle :( It is obvious to the rescuers that I had been bound around my mouth/muzzle for an extended point of time..... no words can express how sad and heartbroken this makes my rescue peeps feel, cause I am the BESTEST girl! Loving and smart and GREAT with EVERYONE I meet!! I have puppy-dog brown eyes that'll absolutely pull at your heart strings, so careful when I look up at you! I have the ability to melt you into jelly, so get ready to make me your NEWEST family member!! My rescue peeps will be very picky about my forever family, so get ready for the grilling :) BUT I AM SO SO WORTH IT. I have a LOVE for food that exceeds all others. I have been internally starving so long because my pancreas wasn't producing the enzymes my body needs to digest and use the nutrients in the foods I was eating........... Sooooo, I am starving and the time and no one better come into my food space (other dogs). We have had no problems at the rescue since she is kenneled to eat. Kesha has had a really horrible start to her life, lets all get together and make sure she gets the BEST NEXT CHAPTER!!! ADOPT.......>DON'T SHOP!!! MY LIFE DEPENDS ON IT!!!!! Story
RexRottweiler mix1-2 years/Male24-D175Intake: June 27, 2024Rex came to the shelter when he was found on Cayenne Cove, and we can’t believe nobody came looking for him. He’s a big boy with a big bark when you first meet him in his kennel but is really a big softy. He’s a handsome guy and can give such serious looks and you have to wonder what he’s thinking about. We’ve been trying to figure out what’s in his DNA other than Rotti and came to the conclusion it’s definitely not Chihuahua. Come meet this big hunk and spend some time with him, he just might be your new bff.He will need to meet all family members, including resident dogs to make sure everyone gets along before going home. Once home, please give him time to decompress and get used to what you expect of him. You will have to put in the time to train him and with patience, you will be amazed at how smart he is.Ready to meet Rex? Pet viewing hours are Monday-Friday, Noon-7pm and Saturday, Noon-4pm.
