Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please contact SSRR (Adoptions@southernstatesrescuedrottweilers.org) for more information about this pet.                    Hi! My name is Miley. My fosters call me Smiley Miley because I am always grinning! I am a very active young girl who loves to play with toys and other dogs. I did not know how to be a dog when I first arrived to my foster home and I was scared of everything! Men especially were scary to me. When I met my foster brothers and saw how they were with the humans, I did a 180 degree turn and came out of my shell. I am no longer scared of pretty much anything. I even laid next to the vacuum the whole time it was running! I still have a lot of puppy tendencies because I just became a dog. I will need some training but who doesn't! I will be as active or as relaxed as you are! Oh and I just found out I love to swim! I got to go to the lake, with my life jacket. I could be in the olympics! I am looking for my forever home!     Upon approval to adopt, you will be sent SSRR Decompression and Introduction requirements that we require ALL of our adopters to follow . You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please contact SSRR (Adoptions@southernstatesrescuedrottweilers.org) for more information about this pet.                      Butch is a happy 4-5 year old Rottie mix. He’s very intelligent, extremely loyal and super energetic. Butch aims to please his human. Butch enjoys walks, play time and treat time. Butch is leashed trained and does well on walks. However, Butch is highly prey driven. Especially with rabbits and squirrels. He can be distracted easily. With quick correction, Butch can be redirected. Butch exhibits excellent behavior at grooming and vet visits (no muzzle needed). He does exceptionally well with home grooming and loves getting his teeth brushed. Due to Butch’s excitement level and strength, he should be placed in a home with humans aged 12 and older. Overall, Butch is a love bug, remarkably affectionate and deserves to be placed in a loving home.   Upon approval to adopt, you will be sent SSRR Decompression and Introduction requirements that we require ALL of our adopters to follow . Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please contact SSRR (Adoptions@southernstatesrescuedrottweilers.org) for more information about this pet.                      Mae is a cutie patootie in need of a home. An adorable "Pocket Rott", two years old and full grown at just 65lbs, Mae is small for a Rottweiler. Her small size is an advantage because she insists she is a lap dog. Mae has had a rough life of neglect and starvation, but she is a trooper. She has recovered from every kind of intestinal parasite that a dog can get infected with in the US. Her teeth are better described as ground off nubs. She is food motivated and tries to steal what she can reach. She likes being close by to people, almost to the point that she has a fear of abandonment, but she does very well in a crate (long crate times were necessary during her treatments and recoveries). Mae is responding well to training, but still thinks her puppy eyes will get her excused for theft attempts. She does well on a leash except when there are leaves blowing in the wind for her to chase. She may be full grown, but she still has puppy manners. Like all Rottweilers she will need continuous training, attention, and exercise. Despite early health issues and her small stature, Mae is a strong puller. She has grip strength enough to play tug, loves to chase balls and frisbees, and likes big toys. Despite her teeth, where it comes to toys, she is a super chewer. Mae is cat and dog friendly (her foster home has both), after an appropriate adjustment. She is ready to show off full puppy energy and shower a family with love.
Celia is a love bug! Sweet Celia oozes with love, and her favorite way of showing her love is to snuggle up on the floor and immediately roll over for belly rubs. She is a little nervous around adults, so her new family should allow visitors to let Celia warm up to them before trying to pet her.  She was immediately comfortable with the children in her foster home where the youngest is 8 and has loved all of the children she has met so far.  Celia would be a great dog for most families, especially with a playful dog. She loves other dogs and has been great meeting large and small dogs on her walks. She enjoys playing with her foster dog siblings and she loves toys, especially squeaky balls! She could live with a dog-savvy cat; she is currently living with a cat, but he likes to keep her guessing. She is very curious about him. She will run if he runs and walks when he walks, so as much as she wants to be near him, she doesn’t have much of a prey drive. Not much interest in squirrels or birds when we walk either.  Celia is pretty easy to walk but will lunge and bark at bikes and motorcycles. She has recently started barking at some adults that we pass. Distracting her with a treat and having her sit works almost all of the time.   Celia has been malnourished/starved and neglected in her past, so she is constantly looking for food. Celia needs a family who will watch her carefully because she can be very sneaky and will dig into the trash and will climb on tables/counters for food. She has some separation anxiety so her counter-surfing is 100x worse when you leave the house. She should be crated when someone is not home. She has learned how to escape from her crate, so her crate must be 100% secure. On the other hand, she is extremely food motivated and has been pretty quick to pick up commands. She knows sit, down, stay, and will go potty on command in the morning, before bed, and after meals. She also knows “heel” except that she thinks it means stare at you while walking until you give her a treat.  Physically, she is a little small/short for a Rottie, but she's got that perfect Rottweiler block head! She is about 65-70lbs, which I think is a good weight for her. She has some front teeth that are slightly chipped but it doesn't impact her chewing or eating. She has some signs of hip soreness. She is slow to sit, but the vet noted that she's not in any pain and has been able to do some slow jogs with her foster family.   Her paperwork says she’s 5, but she has a lot more energy than her foster dog siblings who are both 5. She is definitely past the velociraptor stage! Finally, her foster family believes that Celia should be on a non-rice/chicken diet; she is eating salmon and sweet potato food from Costco without any issues. Celia is housebroken, but doesn’t always signal to go out.    Celia doesn’t have any food or toy aggression and is naturally more submissive with dogs! She doesn’t jump up on visitors, despite her foster dog siblings showing her how it’s done constantly. She doesn’t lick faces but does like to lick hands. I think she could live with a small child, but when she is really excited, she could knock over someone when she’s zooming.
Carla is very precocious, strong-willed, and lovable. Carla loves her sissy and Lizzie (former SSRR foster).  She is potty-trained but it's up to her people to pay attention to her cues. She is still  working on that. She will sit for her meals, when you tell her to sit, or any time she thinks there's a handout to be had. Carla has been introduced to little kids (4-6) and did very well. No fear in this little girl! We imagine she would do fine with cats if the cats didn't mind. She is crated at night and goes in easily with a treat. She has a pen also, for when she can't be watch 100%. The girls work together to move the pen wherever they want to go in the living room, so we think her days are numbered there.   Upon approval to adopt, you will be sent SSRR Decompression and Introduction requirements that we require ALL of our adopters to follow .
