Story
Nolan / Male / Approx. 10 months / 56 lbs / Rottweiler Mix / Good with Dogs / Good with Kids / No Cats Please / From Tennessee/ Fostered in Scarborough Meet Nolan! Nolan’s foster describes him as a sweet and goofy boy. He was surrendered with his sister to our partner in Tennessee and is now living with his fosters in Scarborough. In typical puppy fashion, he has a lot of energy and sometimes gets the zoomies. He loves to play with toys and chew on bones, but is also happy cuddling on the couch. His favourite toys are those that squeak. He can often be found happily pouncing around with his squeaky toys. Nolan is a little bit timid around new people, but warms up quickly and loves his trusted people. He is friendly, excitable, and affectionate when with his trusted people. Nolan has met some kids at events, and shows interest in them. His fosters believe that he could make a great family dog. His gentle nature seems indicative of being good with children. Of course, a proper meet and greet as well as respectful children will ultimately determine this. He would do well in most situations. Like many dogs, he would love a backyard to run around in, but is also content in most homes as long as his mental and physical needs are met. Nolan is very social with other dogs and would make a great addition to a family with a resident dog. He has not been tested with cats but does show some prey drive on walks towards squirrels and other small animals. For that reason, we think he’d do best in a home that is cat free. He gets two 45 minute walks per day, as well as plenty of backyard time for his zoomies. Still a puppy, Nolan is working on manners but is quick to learn and is food motivated. If he is properly exercised and given lots of enrichment, he is very well behaved. A smart boy-Nolan loves food related puzzles and games. He is potty trained and has not yet had an accident in the house. Nolan has not been left alone yet during the day. At night, he sleeps in his own room in his crate with the door open. He whines for a few minutes but settles quickly after that. Overall, Nolan is a pretty awesome goofy little guy. He would fit in well with many different types of families. If you’re interested in adopting Nolan, please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form Nolan’s adoption fee is $900. Story
Choi is one strong guy! Most of the time he is tough and determined, but once he accepts you into his circle he is a real cuddle bear. He is so very loyal. Choi enjoys spending his days doing lots of tricks for treats, playing ball, and getting all the pets he can. Sometimes he'll even sit on your lap! When we first rescued Choi he had no leash manners or training. His reactivity and protective behaviour was very intense. Throughout the months of working with him we have seen a huge change in Choi. He is extremely food motivated and enjoys structure. He would benefit from someone who is active, has experience with dogs of his demeanor, and will have the time to continue his training long term. Choi would do best in an adult only home with no other pets, in a quiet environment. He can still be reactive towards dogs, vehicles, and strangers at times. Choi could go to a home with teens depending on the family's experience as a whole.

Story
Introducing Cheyenne, an adorable 8-year-old boxer mix with a heart of gold and a wagging tail that never stops! This gentle doggy was obviously part of a family once, but somehow she ended up out of time in a nasty shelter and was scheduled to be killed before anyone noticed her. Luckily we saw her sweetness and got her out of there before it was too late. Now she's searching for her another home, one where she'll be kept safe and secure from getting lost again, where she can shower her new family with endless love and affection. She's relaxed and at ease indoors, and is already housebroken, making her transition into her new home a breeze.Cheyenne is a social butterfly who adores people, especially children. Her face lights up at the sight of little ones, and no matter what else she was up to before, suddenly all she wants to do is play and snuggle with them. She'll flop over onto her back for tummy rubs and has no problem being tickled, crawled over, leaned on or even laid upon! If a child leans into her face, they will be met with enthusiastic sloppy kisses. Adults are acceptable alternatives if there are no kids nearby. She absolutely LOVES everyone and has shown no signs of shyness or reluctance with anyone. Cheyenne is also pretty jazzed to meet other dogs, and has been eager to play. She thrives in the presence of well-mannered and easy-going canine friends who share her playful energy, but she may come on too strong for some dogs and could use some work on her social skills. Another thing that Cheyenne absolutely adores is car rides. Whether it's a leisurely drive through the neighborhood or a road trip to a nearby park, Cheyenne is very happy to take her spot as co-pilot.If you're looking for a faithful companion who will shower you with love and devotion, look no further than Cheyenne. Her excitement and joy are contagious, and she will undoubtedly bring a whole lot of fun and laughter into her new family's life! Come meet this delightful girl and give her the loving forever home she deserves. Adopt Cheyenne today and make a loyal and loving friend for life! She is in a foster home in Kitchener. Story
Tessa and her 2 tiny babies were rescued from BARC in Houston on April 29, 2024, moments before they were going to be killed. They had a loving home, but their owner was taken to the hospital and his relatives dumped his dogs at the shelter. There was another dog, too, thought to be Tessa's mom, but she was killed. We can't save them all, as much as we wish we could! At least we were able to save Tessa and her babies. The photos of Tessa in her concrete cell, her head down body curled protectively around her puppies, might make you think she's guarding them from letting anyone get too close. Her facial expression doesn't exactly look warm and welcoming -- but the truth is, this mama is as sweet and affectionate with people, even people she's just met, as she is with her own babies. She's all sugar, and no spice! She had absolutely ZERO concern about having her puppies picked up and carried around by strangers, she just wanted to get a butt scratch too. We haven't known her for too long, but so far everything we've seen has been absolutely lovely. She's an amazing mama, but she's also super friendly, quiet in the house, playful with other dogs, curious to investigate new surroundings, and quick to learn. She was pretty interested in the resident cat at her foster home, but was easily redirected and seems to understand now that the cat is off-limits. She's already learning the house rules from her foster-dog siblings and loves being to,d what a good girl she is.Tessa is going to LOVE being part of a family, and we're confident she's going to be an easy, fun and precious addition to any household, whether it's with a single retiree or a busy, bustling family. We're not sure yet if she would prefer having doggie playmates or being the center of attention -- she'd probably be very happy with either, as long as she's not left alone for long periods (she hasn't shown that she has separation anxiety, we just know she's not going to like being by herself as most dogs don't). She seems to be somewhat dominant, so she won't be placed with another dominant female. She's currently in a wonderful foster home in Arkansas, and is available to join a loving household nearly anywhere in the continental US or Ontario. Please go to our website, lastminutedogrescue.com, or our Facebook page to complete an application!
