On September 11th, 2015 Sonny was hit by a car in Chicago and taken to Chicago Animal Care and Control.  He sat there for almost a week.....his euthanasia date was set but that didn't stop ICARe president Margaret from doing everything possible to save his life.  After many, many phone calls and emails we got Sonny to safety and more importantly to see the vet!  Tests were done showing a spinal cord injury that will not heal.  Sonny had no use of his back legs.  He also could not urinate on his own so his bladder had to be expressed manually.   Let me tell you how amazing this dog is. He can now urinate on his own AND even more amazing is Sonny is getting therapy and regaining the function in his back legs. He can take several steps and stand on his own! Sonny has some wheels to help him get around on longer walks as his front end is very strong and he is perfectly capable of going all over!  Sonny needs a special, special forever home.  A family that will love him and treat him like a king.  November 6, 2024, 12:11 am

Miss Honey is living in a foster home. Fill out our quick adoption survey and then we can set up a phone call or meet and greet with the foster! Miss Honey is: Spayed: Yes! Up to date on vaccines: Yes! Microchipped: Yes! Our microchips will automatically register when an adoption is finalized - Currently on medications for anxiety support More about Miss Honey: Housebroken: Yes! Crate trained: She has done well with free roam when home alone for up to 5 hours, as well as overnight Leash walking: She has shown some reactivity toward other dogs she sees on walks, and would benefit from continuing to work on this Dog social: Miss Honey has participated in dog playgroups at our Adoption Center but does not like to share her belongings so needs to be the only dog in the home. Cat social: She has done well with a dog-savvy cat after a slow intro Kid-friendly: Yes but a better match for older kids as she can be jumpy when excited. Miss Honey likes: - Watching TV with you - Enjoying the sunshine - Cuddling up in some cozy blankets with her stuffed dino - Laying her head in your lap Miss Honey is the absolute best girl! She loves hard, and she will follow you all over the house, just wanting to be close to her people at all times. She plays hard, too! She loves to chase her doggie foster siblings around the yard or play tug with her people... but only for like 20 minutes and then it's time for a nap. She snuggles hard, and loves to park herself on the couch and get as much of her body on your body as she can. She's friendly with every person she meets and within moments of greeting you she'll show you her belly for rubs and will give you the sweetest, most gentle kisses if you'll let her. She would appreciate an adopter who can help her channel her energy in positive ways when she becomes overstimulated, to avoid mouthing and jumping behaviors. Miss Honey's adoption fee is $300, and she is excited to find the perfect person to cuddle with on the sofa! Beau is loving and a nice dog I have had for 8 years. He is starting to act very possessive around my 10 month old granddaughter and snapped at a 15 month old toddler for no reason. He has never bitten anyone and is good around older kids. He has a voice and will be your protector. He will spot to show you it is his territory but is housebroken. He loves the outside, has a doggie door, and goes boating. A very cute and loveable pet. He is used to sitting with you on the couch or laying at the end of your bed. He has his own beds he is fond of laying in.
