Story
Frizzle and his brother Bantam ended up on a Good Samaritan’s door step one dark and freezing night. It is unclear if the puppies wandered there or were put there. Since it is a two business, no stoplight, 4 street town, it didn’t take the homeowner long to discover who the puppies belonged to. The owner didn’t want them, but also didn’t want anything bad to happen to them. The Good Samaritan agreed to keep them overnight and went to work getting them to rescue. A PUP volunteer drove 50 miles the next day to get them and later transported them to Saint Paul to get forever homes.
Frizzle was born Halloween night. We don’t have a picture of mommy but the owner thought she might be a doxie X. Frizzle weighed 4.4# at his vet appointment December 18. We believe he will be either on the upper end of small breed or lower end of mid-size when full grown. He has very short legs and is well built and solid even though he is tiny. The vet commented on how well muscled both he and his brother are. We had DNA testing done on Frizzle and the results are in. In declining order of % of breed, here you go: Australian Cattle Dog, Shiba Inu, Chihuahua, Pekingese, Australian Shepherd, Shetland Sheepdog, Rottweiler, German Shepherd, Border Collie, Miniature American Shepherd, Dachshund, Pug, Pomeranian and Chow Chow.
Frizzle is well socialized, happy and health, and he is a player! While his brother Bantam has a tail that curls up over his back, Frizzle has a stubby tail. It was not docked, he was just born with a short tail. Check out the Youtube videos to see these pups in action. He is consistently using newspapers in the house and has not started going outside yet to potty. He is still in the shoelace-chasing stage of life.
The early months are when puppy learns the social skills needed to be a skilled dog in dealing with other dogs and a good citizen in the human world. Adopters should be committed to getting puppy into lots of new and different human social situations, hearing vacuums, trucks, and rattling garbage cans, meeting people who are clapping, laughing, with hats, tools, bikes and skate boards. AND puppy needs many opportunities to meet and greet dogs of all shapes, sizes and dispositions. Just sharing a home with another dog is not as much doggie socializing as puppy needs. If good canine social skills are not learned and maintained during these early months, it will be very difficult to ever master them. Puppy play dates, trips to the pet store, puppy socialization classes and later, obedience classes are particularly important. If all this doggie time and involvement seems like a good idea, you are up for a puppy! As always, a tired dog is a good dog.
Frizzle has been vet checked, vaccinated and de-wormed. He will need one or two additional puppy vaccinations plus rabies at the adopter’s expense. We do place puppies outside the metro area if a firm plan for the neuter is in place; we do not ship. We require that he be altered at 6 months. His required alter surgery is covered by the adoption fee if it is done at 6 months at the PUP clinic.

If you elect to contact us via e-mail it may take several weeks for us to get back to you. Renters must provide proof that you are allowed to have a puppy. If you currently have a companion dog or cat please be prepared to provide a vet reference prior to adoption if requested. Payment is either check or cash.
