Story
Hi, I’m S’mores! I also respond to Macy. I am a female Sheltie born in February 2018 weighing about 20 pounds. NDLB rescued me from a life of breeding and I’m so happy to be officially retired! My life before rescue wasn’t great and I’m still learning that I’m safe. I will need lots of patience because it takes me a while to warm up. I really like getting belly rubs, laying on the couch, chewing on bones, rolling in the dirt, and eating popcorn. Popcorn is my all time favorite snack!! I am kennel trained and sleep in my kennel at night. Potty training is a work in progress. I am potty trained on a schedule but I will likely have an accident inside if you aren’t watching me - I don’t know how to ask to go outside yet. I get along with dogs and currently live with a 70lb fur brother. He has taught me so many things.. like how to beg for treats, play with the ball, and bark at the mailman. Dogs help me feel comfortable and my furever home needs to have a well-adjusted pup for me to befriend. I have met several kitties and got along with them all. My foster mom thinks I would do best in a home without young kiddos because I am nervous of loud noises and sudden movements. Because I can be easily startled, I will also need to go to a home with a fully fenced and secured yard. Other than the occasional zoomie, I am very chill. I was adopted for a year and returned to rescue because I was still very timid. I’m a really sweet girl and I promise you’ll fall in love with me, I just need patience. If you have another dog and a fenced yard, please apply for me! Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, alter, dental, prepaid microchip, dewormed, Rabies vaccine, DAPP vaccine, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX , flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $550.00 Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 19, 2024, 10:58 pm

Story
Hi, I’m Sammy. I’m a collie beagle mix born approximately 3/17/21. I have the legs of a collie, but the beagle side of my personality is what comes out the most when it comes to sniffing. When I came to NDLB I was heartworm-positive and had a skin issue. I just finished my heartworm treatments and as you can tell from my pictures my fur has grown back beautifully. I get complimented on my coloring a lot when out for walks. Once I decide you’re my human I will stick to you like glue. I do well with my foster parent's dogs but sometimes if they are playing, I will mistake it for aggression and growl. I quickly stop if told no. Other than that, I get along great with them. I would be a great only dog since I love my humans. I go to the office with my foster mom and do well with all the customers that come in and the pesky office cats I just ignore. I’m quiet as far as barking unless I see deer or other critters on my walk. I sleep well all night on a dog bed in my foster parent's bedroom. I prefer not to be in a crate.  I do have separation issues when my foster mom leaves me at home and I have escaped from the house twice but as soon as she pulled up, I was right there by the car. This might be because I go to the office with her every day but it is something that needs to be considered. My foster parents think I’m super smart and maybe training and longer daily walks or a fenced-in yard would help with the separation issues.  I’m a very happy girl and love my walks but also don’t mind a good snuggle on the couch or right by your feet. Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $395.00 Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 19, 2024, 10:58 pm

Story
This is Boi, he’s a Corgi/Chihuahua mix born 10/18/23. He is roughly 10 pounds and full of energy. He thinks he is a big dog and loves to play with dogs of all sizes. He walks well on a leash and has been really good at coming when you call him. He does like to chase anything that looks like it will be a fun chase such as balls, toys, squirrels and birds. He seems to have a bit of puppy left in him. He loves to get your attention so he may give you a couple quick barks to see if you want to play. He does well in his XXL crate and has had no accidents in his crate. He does need to be on a schedule for potty breaks to keep the potty training going. He picks up on things quickly. He is healthy and happy so no medical needs. He is good with older kids (7 and up.) He may nip at times to get you to play so younger children may not be a great fit for him. Again, he does good with other dogs and has been introduced to a cat and Boi just wanted to play…no aggressive behavior at all. He does bark when someone is at the door but it is short and sweet. He loves the exercise inside or outside. He does well on a very large long tie out. He loves to run. He should go to a home that can provide the release of this energy and give him lots of play time.  Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, dental, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Apply on our website ( https://www.healingheartsrescue.org/adopt )  to  set up a private meeting or check below for my adoption event schedule.     Age: About 7.5-8 years old Weight: 21 pounds Dog friendly: YES, REQUIRED IN HER HOME Cat friendly: Yes Kid friendly: Yes, but prefers a quite home Potty trained: Yes, on a schedule  Crate trained: Yes   Oh boy just look at this pretty girl!! Little Miss Joni is ready to shower you in love and affection with her corgi big smile in tow. She's a very happy, wiggly, and smart little girl whose life wasn't always sunshine and rainbows.  She was rescued from a breeder who kept her in an outside pen and sadly when she was young her signature corgi ears were burned by the heat lamp. They are all healed now and Joni doesn't give two cares about it and hopes you can see past it as well!   &#226&#128&#139Joni is very well mannered, affectionate, gentle and sweet. She's happiest lounging quietly in the house but has just the right amount of energy to keep up on long walks, camping and hiking.  She's excelled and basic obedience and knows how to sit, down, stay, come, walk nicely on leash and has an excellent recall.   Joni great with other dogs, cats and livestock. She actually will require another dog in her home and prefers her dog sibling to have a relaxed energy (no young, high energy or pushy dogs for her life  partner). She is good with all people but really doesn't love a lot of fast moving action so young kids are not her jam. She'd thrive in a quite home with another dog friend or two and people who love her.   Joni does have some anxiety that is mostly triggered by thunderstorms but also fireworks, power tools and loud children. She will pace and pant and sometimes have potty accidents when she's scared.  She loves her safe spot (kennel) during these scary times.  This pretty girl can’t wait to meet you and love you endlessly    Adoption Fee: $495  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.INTERESTED IN MEETING ME?
