Story
Bella is a 65 pounds German Shepard mix. She is 7 years old. She has EPI which is well managed with pancreatic enzymes added to her food. She is a calm and stoic dog. As she has gotten older she has gotten anxious around my 5 year old. She isn’t as patient as she used to be and has snapped and growled at him a couple times. She adores my teenager, but we are concerned about her interaction with our younger child. She is great with dogs her own age, but doesn’t like the chaos of puppies. She is a sweet girl who needs a calmer home where she can be relaxed and enjoy her later years. A home with older teenagers or perhaps no kids would be great for her.

Senior Alert!! Sherman is 11.5 yrs old (DOB 08.30.12). He’s the absolute best boy with other dogs of all sizes. He does prefer a home without any cats. Sherman would do well in a home with older children. He is an absolute love, who is happy cuddling up on the couch with his humans and snuggling, but despite his age he also LOVES his daily walks. Sherman is now almost completely deaf, and has trouble seeing in the dark because of changes in his eyes due to age. But, he’s still extremely strong when on walks or even playing. He knows basic obedience commands and is crate trained, house trained, fully vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. He would do best in a home with somebody who is home almost always as he does have some separation anxiety. Sherman is not a SacRDR rescue dog. He is one of our foster's rehoming projects. She is a Vet Tech and is in the process of starting her own rescue. We fully back her and her dogs. We have collaborated on rehoming several dogs with her and the dogs are stable grounded animals. Story
Meet Dutton! Sweet Dutton is looking for his forever home! He was pulled from the Stockton Shelter at approximately 4 months old after being found running stray with another puppy, and had a bit of a rough start after developing a vaccine reaction that resulted in temporary distemper symptoms. Luckily with time and care he recovered quickly, and has been fairly healthy ever since! Dutton loves his people. He lives with dogs his size of both sexes; when introduced properly he can be playful and he loves his canine foster siblings. Cats and small dogs are not a fit. Dutton is listed as 'Special Needs' due to allergies and anxiety. After all he's been through he's an extra sensitive soul, and is beginning a behavioral training course with a reputable trainer based out of the Sacramento area to work through those anxious tendencies and help him learn to feel safe and secure in new situations. He would do best with a foster or adopter who worked from home (or spends time at home frequently) as he is a bit of a velcro dog. The ideal foster or adopter for Dutton will be willing to participate in training with him - the costs of this upcoming course have been covered by the rescue and are included in his adoption fee. Allergy-wise, Dutton had a full allergen panel completed after experiencing a skin reaction, and is now known to be sensitive to peanuts, soy/legumes, and tumbleweeds (of all things!). He is currently undergoing an immunotherapy treatment to alleviate his reactions to these allergens, which we hope will lessen the need for regular allergy medications in the future.
