Meet Henry! Henry, a 6-years-old, 10lb, Shih Tzu is just the cutest ever! We met him on a trip to a metro Atlanta area shelter who was about to euthanize a bunch of dogs because of overcrowding. Henry had been surrendered to the shelter when his human “mom” and “dad” broke up. As soon as we met him we couldn’t believe anyone could ever give him up! He’s super low maintenance and spends his days with all four paws in the air while he naps. But don’t let his tiny size fool you, there’s nothing he enjoys more than a brisk walk. He comes alive and jumps for joy as soon as he hears his leash rattling. But if it’s raining and he can’t go on a walk then he happily sleeps the day away in his crate and nobody would know that he missed his daily exercise. His crate is his sanctuary but he does like being within reach of his favorite human. His tail wags whenever a human is near or he rolls onto his back looking for free belly rubs. Henry does have a very common condition known as “cherry eye”. We are trying a course of medicated eye drops to see if we can reduce the cherry eye that way, but if that is unsuccessful we will get him right in for surgery. It’s a surgery we’ve had done on tons and tons of dogs - very routine and no one will ever know there was ever an issue once he has healed. I was given this pet as a Christmas gift 5 years ago and he is about to be 6 years old in November. I am looking for a new owner that has a loving home and has more time for him than I do. He is a very active dog, and requires a lot of attention that I can’t get him since I am still in college. My dog is a sweetheart, and sometimes might be a little stubborn but he loves people and loves to play. My dog requires a special diet as well so I’m looking for someone who can afford to take care of his needs as well . He knows a few tricks such as sit, lay down, shake hands and fetch. I love my dog but I just don’t have e the funds and the time and I just want to find him a home that will love him as much as I do.

Several years ago a good samaritan in Nashville saved me, I was running down the road. She took me in for 3 years, but couldn't afford to take me to the vet. I developed skin and ear issues so she reached out for someone to take me, and here I am getting the health care I need and responding very well. Yes I'm mostly blind, but I'm a gentle fellow that enjoys being petted. I could spend the day sitting on a lap being company and enjoying a persons company. I'm quiet and I would be fine in a small home with a small fenced yard because I love to sit in the sun and snooze.

I came from a backyard breeder in Cartersville. They didn’t want me any more so Act2Pups stepped up and rescued me. I was just a number, I didn’t have a name. I hadn’t been to see a vet and was totally confused to be out of a wire cage. I was allowed to decompress and in a week I was coming out of my shell. All my teeth were rotten so I had them all removed, but I do fine eating wet food. I’ve come a long way and I’m doing great. I’m a sweet gentle fellow that needs a home that will understand what my life was like for so many years.
