You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.  Do Not Apply for a pet with PENDING in the name bar.  They have been matched with a home, but not adopted yet. Joie was born in September. He is very sweet and seems to get along well with others. . He is a shih tzu/maltese mix. He will need basic training. Located in boarding in the midwest. Adoption fee is 950. This includes transport to the Northeast or Southeast. There are no other pictures. Pix are current. You pay adoption fee when you pick up.   Thank you for choosing rescue! We are volunteers with other commitments in addition to rescue. Our time is very limited. Therefore, we request a  $20.00  donation through paypal in order to process and expedite your application. This shows that you are truly interested in adoption. Your application will remain on file for a year. Applications are available at www.eastcoasthumanesociety.com under forms/application. Donation should be made through Paypal at www.eastcoasthumanesociety.com. We are only available by phone after you have an approved application. All pets are located in the southeast. Transport is available to the NE for an additional $300.00 transport fee. We do not adopt in MA, RI due to import laws. Residents MUST pick up in CT. All dogs over 8 months will be spayed or neutered and heartworm tested. All dogs and puppies have been vaccinated,microchipped, dewormed and treated for other parasites. Please read the FAQ on our website for additional information. Adoption fees are cash or money order only. Meet Doobie! Doobie is a distinguished gentleman looking for the perfect retirement home! He's a 10ish yr old guy who loves chilling on the sofa or out in the yard. Doobie gets along great with other dogs but he's also pretty independent so wouldn't mind being an only fur child. He wants nothing more than a calm, quiet place to enjoy his Golden Years and would be a great companion for a retired person looking for some help in the garden. Doobie is a homebody though - leash walks and car rides just aren't his cup of tea - so he will do best in a home with a fenced yard and won't at all mind chilling out at home while you run your errands Interested in adopting? Story
King has been with us since 2015. He was originally my sister’s pet. My sister passed away and King was with my mom who now has Alzheimer’s disease. King was very close to my mom and is having separation anxiety. He has been a little hard to care for since he has been away from my mom and he needs constant attention. We would like him to be with someone who has experience with dogs with special needs. King will need a loving owner who is compassionate and patient. He loves to run and play with his toys although he is an older dog, King tends to be more relaxed during the day. He’s not a big eater but he does love pup cups and riding in the car. King does have some issues with tinkling indoors due to anxiety since he has left my mom, so he would need to be walked frequently. King doesn’t mind being dressed up in cute clothes either. He is a very loyal companion once he gets to know his owner but he loves attention. My hope is that King finds a loving forever home.

I adopted my Oliver from his first owner (a college girl) who raised from baby when she was in college. She rehomed when she wanted to move away from city for her work. She does not know how Oliver have the habit of biting any when he is touched. He is taking daily a tablet (recommended by his pet doctor) daily for his anger issue to calm down. Oliver loves and follows one owner in the family and try his best to protect that person. Follows and tries to stay within 10 feet from that dog parent always. Does not like to be tied. He does whining throughout the time being tied and settle down. He understands all instructions and try his best to follow. He does not run away from home; follows the owner back inside home when taken out for walking or for his natural needs to front or back yard. When anyone touches his body behind or anyone has things in hand and try to tie leash on his collar, he is afraid that things may fallen on him. He is a happy dog.

Story
Several years ago a good samaritan in Nashville saved me, I was running down the road. She took me in for 3 years, but couldn't afford to take me to the vet. I developed skin and ear issues so she reached out for someone to take me, and here I am getting the health care I need and responding very well. Yes I'm mostly blind, but I'm a gentle fellow that enjoys being petted. I could spend the day sitting on a lap being company and enjoying a persons company. I'm quiet and I would be fine in a small home with a small fenced yard because I love to sit in the sun and snooze.
